He's brilliant, he's expressive, and he's real.

Sometimes you want to fall apart, to simply shatter into a million pieces, swept up by the wind, scattered to the far reaches of the earth, to be picked through by the ones that recognize themselves in your parts. It is only then that you truly feel whole.

And we are passengers on this rollercoaster together,

Strapped in, buckled in, tied in.

And we clasp hands as the ride comes up and up and up.

And as the ride peaks, we giggle and laugh and wonder about what comes next.

But the downward spiral is too fast to keep holding hands, so we hold the bars for dear life, struggling to breathe from our own seats, feet dangling, anticipating the next twist and turn.

Then it slows down as we turn a corner, and again we hold hands tightly, for fear this time of losing track of each other again. And it climbs up and up and up, and we can breathe, a bit more shallow but a breath none the less.

And we hit that last peak and we look to each other, no longer laughing, but terrified sadness of the next few turns and knowing that we are nearing the end. Again we drop, and again our hands clasp the railings of our seats, our legs and arms locked into a place of survival, and we stay there, until the ride comes to a close. And as the seat comes to a jarring halt, you ask, "do you want to do it again?" to which I reply "Every Day."

One foot planted, here we go.

One foot rooted into the dirt.

One foot standing stable, assured.

One foot pressed into the soft earth beneath me.

One foot to keep me grounded...

Before I run.

"So the tree in your front yard is on fire, but so is your house. Which one do you put out first?"

"So I'm being sacrificed for the greater good?"

"In essence, yes."

When finding yourself, it's important to pause and breathe. Sometimes you are so frantic in the search, you miss all of the pieces of you scattered about.

Break me. Break my soul into tiny pieces and leave them scattered on the floor. When I have the energy to crawl from my bed, I will gather them up and put them together again...maybe I'll rearrange them this time. Maybe it will be stronger, braver.. maybe it will be beautiful. Maybe it will dance in the rain and soak up the sun. Maybe I will realize that I am more than the opinions of others, that I can love myself and be enough, that I doesn't need anyone else's love to feel whole. Maybe when I hold the pieces of my soul in my hands, I'll feel free to build as I wish.

So break me.

She wanders aimlessly, choosing this blue flower over the purple one. A new experience she says. That's what she wants the most. Another experience. Another chance. Something new. Something different. To learn something because she tried. Not to be trapped in this cage, this role, this tradition. To explore and be free is what she asks. It's all she asks.

Play with my brain.

Start by running your fingers through my very fine hair, slowly, gently, meticulously, letting every hair part ways.

Then drag your fingers down the back of my neck, paying attention to the singular vertebrae that protrudes past the others.

Use both hands to run parallel lines down my spine, touching every rib, every line running perpendicular to my spinal column.

Find my tail bone, that hides between mounds of muscle and flesh, the dimple that exists at the top, large enough to place your gentle finger into and pull me closer.

Explore my hip bones, as they are so oft used for movement, but are not used near enough for caressing and kissing and nibbling.

If you pay attention to my hip bones, you'll find my navel and my very soft tummy, the curves and stretch marks that make me beautifully unique.

Find me. Every little place that makes me who I am. Every little place that begs to be touched and held and caressed and adored.

But first, before all of this, you must play with my brain, for it is the key to the rest of my universe.

Don't put me on a pedestal, or ask me to be a princess

I'm not frail or fragile or waiting to be saved

I am independent and forward moving...

At least these are all the things I tell myself and then I also want

You to tell me that you think my emerald eyes are radiant

Write me a love note and make me feel your warmth and your surrender and your love in those 26 letters of various combinations

Be my partner, my lover, my land of eternal exploration, my experiment and my scientist

Let us lay in bed for a little while, blankets pulled up, retelling memories to each other and laughing until we cry

Let me be both sides. I want to have both sides. Love me, both sides.
