This scene made me feel so uncomfortable. It's not romantic nor a lovely one. This is an almost sexual harassment and assault. He pinned her down, and tried to force a kiss on her!!!!
I love Jinshi, he is one of my favorite characters, he has many good sides to him "other than being handsome" like how humble and kind hearted he is, how he doesn't get wavered by all the seduction around him, keeping his heart honest and pure for real love.
So I really can't hate him, however I do hate his romantic advances and flirting with Maomao (which is unwanted by Maomao, to begin with) when they go overboard.
But what I find weird is the fans reaction, how almost everyone is giggling about it as if it's the most romantic thing in the world!! While Maomao was thinking of kicking him to save herself.
And even Jinshi himself realize that what he did was wrong, he apologize to Maomao and understood that she is worried of him and doesn't want to open her room door for him.
I have seen many toxic similar behaviors showed as romantic gestures in many popular animes from Hana Yori Dango to Kaichou wa Maid-Sama, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, and many others. So I know how to regulate my feelings around those scenes, without ruining the whole show experience for me, but I don't consider it as a romantic or even an acceptable behavior. And I really thought that we as a society have overcome glorifying and rebranding toxic behaviors as a romantic until I saw ppl reaction to Jinshi behaviors.
I have seen people saying pathetic excuses to make Jinshi behaviors seems OK, like saying Maomao is autistic and doesn't know her own feelings! Or saying that it's matual and Maomao actually reciprocate Jinshi feelings (while she obviously clearly, and visibly does not).
Other fans went as far as hating on Maomao for responding negatively to Jinshi flirting.
And I can't believe that in 2025, people are saying such things about a smart and a strong female character just because she is not interested in romance!!
Yes Maomao will fall in love with Jinshi later on, since they are an end game eventually but this doesn't make his behaviors now to be OK.
And so I realized that ppl are just hypocrite, they will give a green light and free pass to what they like, then pretend to be moral on what they don't like.
