Hiii I wanted to know if you'll open more toy house profiles? 👀 I love the characters you currently have open
Hello! And yessss. Slowly but surely I want to put more characters up on TH. Writing/rewriting character bios and making updated art takes a while, though, so I just do it when I catch an urge. 😭
Happy slightly late Valentine's Day!
Here's some art featuring OCs I realize I've never posted here a single time, despite having a whole webcomic about them and drawing them almost constantly...
Same anon as the previous 23:4 question-- damn, I had no idea the hiatus was due to issues with Webtoons. I miss the story and the characters a lot (I'm way too picky with my angel media haha) and will definitely not "have forgotten about it" by then, but I totally understand if you prefer to focus on other projects after this lol. All the best!
(Forgive this text wall. Using your question to answer multiple ones at once)
The hiatus was initially because my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer and I had to become his caregiver. The plan at first was to take some time off, build up some episodes and come back to webtoons, but as time went on I eventually decided that working with Webtoons wasn't worth the trouble and chose not to go back at all.
Working solo: 60 fully rendered drawings a week + looking after an elderly man that can't bathe or dress himself or use the bathroom on his own. Not to mention taking him to all his appointments. Many of them hours long. Dealing with unexpected hospital trips, etc.+ doing commissions to make up for what I didn't get paid in webtoon revenue because no way was I going to be able to do that 60 panel a week submission thing + artistic burnout + caregiver burnout + the comic not being all that successful on webtoons in the first place? All while sitting on the knowledge that I could make more money and draw A LOT less by focusing on commissions?
To say I was over it. ALL of it... would be an understatement.
I couldn't do anything about my grandpa's situation but I could absolutely do something about Webtoons. I think quitting was the best decision I could have made even if 23:4 is stuck in limbo. (Ba dum tsss)
I've since started self publishing another webcomic and it's much funner to work on. I can still scratch that comic-making itch without all the stress.
Perhaps 23:4 will return someday but I have very much tossed it into the very back of my mind and do not miss working on it at all. I appreciate y'all for reading it and supporting it while it was updating! 😭
Hi! Will you continue working on 23:4 or is it shelved forever?
I can't do anything with 23:4 until WEBTOONS loses the publishing exclusivity rights to it. That doesn't happen until 3 years after the final episode I submitted to them goes public.
They have not published that final episode yet so that 3 year countdown hasn't even started yet and I don't know when it will so I don't even know what to tell you.
If it/when it does come back, everyone will have forgotten about it by then. lol
Hiiii!! Any updates on Westerloch? I hope you didn't abandon it, I really wanna know about Gideon's backstory and how he got his scars 😭
Every blue moon I get the urge to draw a character or two from it. Every bluer moon I act on that urge. That's about it.
The struggle of having a million and one OCs and the attention span of a moody goldfish.😭
It's Brad from hit shelved webcomic Westerloch!
I haven't forgotten about the Westerloch cast and characters. I just have the attention span of a goldfish and only one good drawing hand...
Sticking my head in here on a random holiday like the textbook definition of an absentee father... 👋🏾
I regret not trying to build things up here more. Gonna try again I think. Did it for Bsky...
hey just wanted to quickly say your art is absolutely gorgeous and amazing. You got me back into drawing again and I absolutely love looking at your works and your webtoon! The concept is literally so cool and am not joking my mouth was hanging when I read the first episode your art is majestic ✨✨✨ (remember to drink lots of water and rest that looks like a lot of hard work <3) Sending lots of love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷
Aaa thank you so much!! I'm honored to have helped you get back into drawing and thank you for checking out my webtoon!
I appreciate you and your kind words. 😭
how do you come up with such detailed designs & clothes, and how did you learn to have them all flow so naturally? the folds and sleeves you draw always feel so real
I am super duper ultra late and I apologize.
Pinterest hands down is my go-to source when I need inspiration for clothes.
When it comes to folds and drapery, I'm still extremely inexperienced. (I appreciate the compliment thought! ; u ; ) I continue to hoard refs to this day (also via Pinterest). I like to use a combination of real-world references and anime-style ones to understand how to simplify what I'm looking at.
When you look at refs long enough you start to notice that certain folds sit the same way in certain places. (Like around the elbows and knees)
I wish I could explain better but it's ultimately been trial and error on my end. T _ T
Where do you find the stroke stabilizer on clip studio? A screenshot of it would be helpful, I'm a visual learner
Here you go:
QuestionMy lines are shaky and uneven when I draw. I want draw smoother lines using stabilization. Where can I find this setting? AnswerWhen
I highly recommend checking out CSPs support articles sometimes. There are a lot of little information nuggets in there. Their online user manual is super helpful too. = v = ) b
If you still don't see it you might need to toggle the visibility of the option.
More info on that here: https://help.clip-studio.com/en-us/manual_en/240_brushes/Customizing_brush_tools.htm#XREF_56201__Customizing_brush_tools4
Hi, I was wondering if you have any advice on how to make your lineart so smooth and nice? Yours is just so incredibly satisfying to look at!
Aw thank you! T u T
The stroke stabilizer in clip studio paint has always been my best friend for lineart. I keep that thing turned up to almost 30 at all times because my hands are shaky as heck.
I highly recommend it if you don't use one already. Most drawing software has some kind of stabilizer. I know procreate, sai, and csp do. There's also this software called LazyNezumi that does the same thing if you use Photoshop or some other software that doesn't have stroke stabilization built in.
I almost forgot to mention that my webcomic “23:4″ updated...like a week ago. You can go check it out if you want/ haven’t already. ; )
You can read it here on its official website or on Webtoon Canvas.
do you have any tips on how to grow your accounts, especially as an oc artist?
Uhm....I'll do my best:
-Be patient. It takes a lot longer to grow an account that's all OCs unless you're like...an art deity.
-Spark curiosity. Don't just draw your OCs standing there. Draw them doing things relevant to them or acting in character. Memes, fake anime screenshots, mini-comics. Or even like...a single drawing with a speech bubble next to it. Make em say something. Give people a reason to care.
-Bait people with fanart. (This is risky. Make sure your fanart is infrequent. Far and in-between. Buried under mountains of OC art. Also maybe try to make sure the fanart is somewhat similar to your OCs vibes. Like...maybe don't draw Sailor Moon fanart if all your OCs give off Dragonball Z vibes.)
-Have fun with your characters. Pretend they're already popular and mainstream and draw them that way. When you have fun with your characters I feel like it shows in your art and can make people want to see more of it.
Hello, I wanted to ask if you have tutorials or tips for drawing hair
I have this very old drawing but I don't think it says anything a million other tutorials haven't already. T - T
very important question: when it snows in heaven do the angels make snow-humans?
I seriously hope they do. I'm gonna be sad if they don't LOL
okay so I found a photo on pinterest with no link redirecting it anywhere. it was a dapper looking monkey man interacting with another dapper boy, possibly a robot boy. i don't know anything about you or your characters, but as far as I could tell the art belonged to you (through searching "Terra Terrific" since it was on a watermark)
i can't find any other art of these characters, but I have become enamored with the monkey man's design! can you talk more about him?
You're talking about Professor Gibbon! Yeah, he's an obscure character of mine.
He's a scientist/inventor-type guy. The robot boy's name is Arthur. He's really more like a cyborg. The story idea they're in takes place in a steampunk-type setting where humans are just about extinct and the world is overgrown with nature and also there are talking animals because of course.
Gibbon finds a baby Arthur abandoned in the jungle, injured and nearly dead, and he saves him by like...replacing his human parts that were beyond repair with robot parts.
He then proceeds to raise him as his own without telling him he's part machine until he accidentally hurts himself and finds out on his own.
Gibbon overall is a very grumpy dude. Very reclusive. Usually tired. Not beyond breaking out into a fit of rage and throwing things across a room. But he's a nice monkey-man deep down.
