Just to be clear, the rapists are the same generation of priests who kidnapped children during the Holocaust, converted them by force, and refused to return them to their communities, right?
Tfw you love cheap kindle books on spirituality and religion
So… Anyone remember when the Hobby Lobby people were busted for smuggling artifacts, and we were all shocked and confused and then forgot about it?
Well, the artifacts they were actually busted for are Mesopotamian clay tablets. But… those aren’t the only artifacts they’ve been dealing in.
I just found out that they have thousands - thousands! - of Torah scrolls, which they then donate to other Evangelicals for financial reasons and political leverage. (In one case, they donated a 16th-century scroll to Liberty University. It was completely unfurled and directly handled in an auditorium. By untrained students.) Almost two thousand of them are sitting in an explicitly Evangelical museum full of supercessionist bullshit, and the text of the largest display talks about how they were “saved” from burial or the genizah.
Saved.
From proper Jewish ritual handling.
By Evangelical Xians.
Who then donate these things to other Evangelicals who mishandle them.
For money.
I… I think I’m going to cry.
I was just about to post this! I even got a little shout-out in the article. :)
The notion of “build[ing] a Christian museum on the backs of Jewish items” is, as I’ve come to understand in my research of the history of Judaica collecting, goes back several centuries to the origins of the modern museum itself. But it is particularly disturbing to see how this classically-supersessionist and fossilizing language (“God gave those people [Jews] a job, and they did that job well,” Steven Green explains, referring to the “job” of preserving the Torah text in identical copies so that evangelical Christians could prove the Bible’s unerring nature) is intertwined with corporate capitalism and greedy tax evasion. If only there was something in all those Torah scrolls on the subject…
anyways I hope all you fascists are russian trolls and as such hold a less abhorant ideology
people are seriously going “lol nice fedora” when they see others say that the slaughter of non-violent Christian sect by crusaders was bad
I really can't handle Catholic Tumblr anymore so I'm out of this place. I don't think there's anything I can do to argue the fascism out of these creeps (You Know Who You Are) and you're making me ashamed of being what I am. I can't be anything else aside from the sin of cultural appropriation, so I'm stuck. You fash killed St. Edith and St. Maximillian. If you want to say they're not "really" saints because they're post-Vatican II that's your business, but you also killed 12 million other people for belonging to the wrong ethnic groups and not caring about that, or lauding that, is so disgusting that it defies language.
Temple Beth Shalom and their neighbors are still recovering from Hurricane Maria. Donations are appreciated to help pay for ongoing synagogue costs, help afford solar panels so they are no longer reliant on the electric grid, and to help surrounding communities that still need water purifying filters.

Rep. Robert Aderholt met twice with Marian Munteanu, who claimed that Romanian Jewish groups exaggerated the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust.
The Christian group that runs the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. sponsored a trip to Romania for a member of Congress to meet with a local political leader accused of anti-Semitism, the left-wing news outlet TYT Network reported Wednesday.
Republican Rep. Robert Aderholt of Alabama met with Marian Munteanu on two separate occasions during his trip in May 2017 organized by the Fellowship Foundation, TYT reported, citing federal travel disclosure records. Other records show that Aderholt and Munteanu also met in May 2015 on another trip organized by the foundation.
The purpose of the trips was to “build new and maintain old relationships with business leaders and officials from throughout the region,” according to the travel records.
According to a Jewish Telegraphic Agency report citing the Romanian newspaper Evenimentul Zilei, Munteanu signed a letter in 1994 accusing Jewish groups of exaggerating the number of Romanian Jews killed in the Holocaust in order to “obtain illicit moneys from Romanian people through disinformation and manipulation of public opinion, with the complicity of treacherous elements who infiltrated the Romanian institutional structures.”
In 2016, Munteanu criticized a law against anti-Semitic speech and Holocaust denial, claiming there is hardly any anti-Semitism in Romania. “We are all philo-Semites because we are all Christians,” Munteanu explained.
Munteanu attended last year’s National Prayer Breakfast, according to a Romanian report citing Munteanu’s Facebook page. The report does not identify who invited him.
Munteanu said in a Facebook post last year that the founder of the Fellowship Foundation, Doug Coe, was a “close friend.” Munteanu’s personal website also includes a photo of the two together.
The National Prayer Breakfast has come under increased scrutiny in recent days after the FBI accused alleged Russian operative Maria Butina of using the event to create a backchannel between conservative operatives and Russian officials.
Father Angel, I recently had a conversation that troubled me. Someone was saying that since God will provide for Mankind in the world, we do not need to labor by our own power to secure God's gifts against environmental damage, use sustainable energy, come up with new technology to irrigate tbe deserts, etc. To me this seems like an outrageous presumption, like somebody not bothering to feed their family in hopes of manna from Heaven. Can you comment on this?
Hello,
I don’t blame you for feeling bothered. We can’t dump everything in God’s lap, when it comes to the care of our planet, as good stewards.
We are in a partnership with the Lord, a team effort of collaboration. Our heavenly Father provides strength and His Spirit. We take that and do the work that Jesus has entrusted to us as disciples. I suggest to the “somebody” who talked about God providing, would read the parable of the talents.
Jesus speaks of a worker who is provided with ten talents, a worker who is given two, and a worker who is given one. The Master returns and asks for an accounting of His talents. The workers with ten, and with two, labored with initiative, and doubled the Master’s investment.
The worker with one talent, did nothing out of laziness and used his fear of the Master, as an excuse for burying the talent in the ground so that it did not improve or yield an interest. The Master is angry at that worker for being useless. He orders that servant to be thrown out (Matthew 25:30).
When it comes to the environment, and the planet, we are dealing with a treasure our Master has entrusted to us, to be kept well, taken care of, and stewarded.
It is not the job of a steward, a caretaker, to go hog wild, to waste, to despoil, to pilfer the Master’s treasure. Our dominion over nature, over creation, over animals, does not take away the Creator’s dominion, as if God abandons everything to us to do as we please.
We will have to render an account to God, for the way that material creation has been stewarded by us, and not just how we grew in spiritual matters. When nature, when animals, cry out to God, that they are abused and blighted by our gluttony and waste, the Creator hears.
Thus, the more we can show a loving attention to creation, and to take better care of it, the more we can show God that we respect and love the beautiful world He gave to us as a common home. God bless and take care, Fr. Angel
They say that when we get to Heaven we will experience the beautific vision and like it will be an intellectual way of seeing God the Father since he’s a spirit but like Jesus became incarnate so like we will also experience Jesus like seeing him in person. We can hug him right ? Like we humans when we love something we just wanna hold it physically. I wonder what we will be doing for Eternity. It seems scary sometimes to think that you will live forever whether that be in heaven or hell
Not sure what we’ll be doing for eternity exactly, but I’m definitely looking forward to the Beatific Vision! I imagine that since we believe in the physical resurrection of the dead, there will be at least a sensory part of the World to Come. Hugging Jesus? I sure hope so.
