The Altmer had been right, of course. What if by some fluke, the Thalmor got him again? He couldn’t put the Alfiq in that situation twice. And some happy stuff wouldn’t hurt the kid. But gods was ‘Tail missing him now. Baurus felt like that one little string that kept an otherwise entirely tattered robe from falling apart. The kitten gave him something to focus on. 

Make sure Bar gits fed. Make sure he’s clean. Don’ let him git hurt. Keep him outta trouble. Make sure he’s happy.
