Gwynriel Week: Day 11 - Alternate Universe
It is AU day for @gwynrielweeksofficial and here is the full piece I teased yall with that I had commissioned by Shinkxart!

A little bit about this piece:
I knew I wanted Gwyn and Azriel to be in a college/library setting given Gwyn's role in ACOSF and that's where she feels safest (at the moment). I also wanted her to be carrying books as she is known for helping Merrill with her research. Her being in blue just fits her perfectly with her coppery colored hair, her association with the blue Invoking Stone in ACOSF, her eye color, and well blue is associated with Azriel to.
As for Azriel...Azriel just screams a hockey player to me (probably because I've been on a hockey romance kick lately). The number 7 on his jersey is a nod to how many Siphons he has in ACOSF as well as the time he found himself arriving in front of Clotho to drop off a gift for Gwyn. Him leaving that encounter feeling a spark in his chest and tucking the thought away deep down of Gwyn's teal eyes lighting up when she sees the gift makes me giddy inside. 💙

Two sides, same coin
It's day 2 of Gwynriel week @gwynrielweeksofficial
Today it's about complementary, and I think Az and Gwyn really complement each other, and one of the parallels that I really like is the siphons and her invoke stone.
Gwyn says the Invoke Stone can be used to heal and protection, whereas we know that the Illyrians Siphons were made to filter the magic into something to harm, the Invoke Stone and the Siphons are the opposite and they complement each other, can you imagine this in a battle field? Or during a mission? for me it's clearly that the both itens can be connected, and can be used together, one to attack one to defender.
[Not sure if the siphons can be "borrowed" or the Invoke Stone, but I think it would be interesting to see Gwyn use the siphon and Az the invoke stone.]
I also think that Gywn is really curious and she verbalize her questions, and Az is more the type that don't speak, unless it's necessary, so this another way they can complement their personalities, I imagine will be something like this:
They during a mission, waiting and waiting, and Gwyn whispering a lot of things, cause she can be loud and bring attention, and Az just listening to her, with a soft smile.
We know they are both competitive, and even though this may not look like something to complement, cause isn't the opposite, it is. A lot of thing that are opposite have their complement, like sun and moon, day and night, salt and sugar, but their competitiveness will complement each other.
They will be able to create strategics together.
They will love to hear each others stories about their winnings.
They will be living challenging themselves.
Another thing is, they ara both strategists.
How will this complement them? Like I said, they can work together on some strategics, I can see Gwyn become a spy too, so I think they will spying together, and they will work like a symphony in harmony.
Last, but not least, admiration, you can be with someone that you don't admire or you trust.
We know that Gwyn trusts Azriel, and we know that he admires her, and trust her abilities, so they will be able to complement each other in a lot of ways, and helping each other to heal.
Gwyn and Az are the perfect complement to each other, their opposites are a perfect match, and their similarities bring the best of them.
That's it, can wait to see more of them!
Gwynriel Week
Day 1: It's all about the firsts.
The first Kiss: I think that their first kiss will be something "light", lots of brushes over lips, kind of "tentatively", like they are hesitating, not wanting to ruin the moment, in a private space, and I imagine something like this.
[...] Az stepped a little closer, a smirk on his face. "Say that again Berdara". Gwyn lifted her chin, she wouldn't back up, she would challenge him. "I said that I think it will be difficult to beat the books I read, they are too good, you know". He closed the remaining distance between them, locking his eyes on hers. "Do you want me to prove you wrong? I'm looking forward to it". She almost rolled her eyes, of course he would say something like this, she returned his stare, it was like they were staring into their very souls. "Please, shadowsinger, try to prove me wrong". She smiled, but all trace of the smile disappeared when Azriel put his hand around her waist pulling her towards him, and his other hand on her chin, tilting her head, his eyes dropped to her lips, then back to her eyes, she put her hands on his chest, feeling his heartbeat increasing, as she knew her own was the same, as he moved his hand from her chin to her neck, Gwyn closed her eyes, and felt the light touch of his lips over hers, one time, two, three, he brushed his lips over hers so gently, like he wasn't sure if he or she might break, and teasing her, making her almost to beg, he closed the gap between their mouths, kissing her calmly, Gwyn let him kiss her as he wanted, she knew that he would be better in his than her, she needed this, this first, with someone she trusted, someone she knew wouldn't hurt her, she gasped when she felt a soft bite in her lower lip, Az took the chance to explore more of her, putting his tongue in her mouth, while stroking her waist in soft and slow movements, taking a little break, he moved his lips from hers, leaving littles kisses and her skin, her neck, to whisper in her ear "This is just the beginning Berdara, you have no idea what you started", biting her earlobe, he didn't left her answer before kissing her again.
The first date: I think that would be something music related, or just them sitting somewhere talking about the universe.
The first starfall: I think that they would use matching clothes, like the same shades of blue.
The first "family" dinner: I think that everybody would have questions, but Gwyn would nail every question.
The first visit to his mom: This is going to be an emotional moment, and I think that Az's mom would cook a lot of food for them.
The first time in Illyria: I think that is going to be a blast, they are going to attack Gwym, and she will eat them up with her smart answer, and Azriel will love every second of this.
The first time they sing: I think either Gwyn or Az will be having a hard time, and the other will sing to help, and eventually they will sing together.

The fact that both Azriels siphons and Gwyns invoking stone are blue , yet one has killing power the other has healing and shielding power .... Everything about these two is so poetic and their aesthetic is chef's kiss
Like, can you imagine they in a battle field? He is using his siphons to defeat the enemy, and she is use her stone to shield him?! They are a strong pair
Disproving the narrative of 'Azriel won't get his own book' + Who Will His Love Interest Be?
When asked if Azriel would get his own book... this was her answer:
In another live she mentions she knows who the next book is about but wouldn't mention if it was a male or female main character, but there will be a pegasus in it, and again she said it was pretty obvious!!
When she was asked a question about Azriel's shadows she had this to say:
"When it's time for HIS story to be told"
^All that proves Azriel will get his own book, in my opinion and..
As for who his love interest will be?
Well... this is her answer on characteristics that an enticing love interest would have...
Who is it that has Azriel feels a spark in his chest for in the bonus scene of HIS (which takes place between Ch.58/59 of ACOSF)? Gwyn.
Who is it that Azriel attention is fixed on more and more after feeling that initial spark in the bonus scene throughout the rest of ACOSF? Gwyn.
Who is it that has history with Azriel, as well as her own history left to still be explored? Gwyn. Reminder that Sarah wrote that Azriel was the one who saved her, slaughted the soldiers without hesitation, and even gave her his cloak to cover up with.
Who is it that can challenge Azriel and has bantered with him? Gwyn.
I also found this question in a live and her answer interesting when it comes to the Valkyries bracelets:
She went with her 'spiritual gut instinct' as to what colors she associates with the characters.
And in the scene with these three making the bracelets in Chapter 59?
Gwyn's bracelet: Blue, White, and Teal.
What do I think these colors could mean?
Blue for Azriel. Teal for Gwyn's eyes.
White for her powers (to compliment Azriel's darkness) or even when Gwyn does feel worthy of the Invoking Stone (which is also Blue). Gwyn even mentions this about the Invoking Stone in Chapter 15:
“It’s an Invoking Stone.” Gwyn unfurled her fingers, revealing the gem within her hand. “Similar to the Siphons of the Illyrians, except that the power of the Mother flows through it. We cannot use it for harm, only healing and protection. It was shielding us.”
And there is this to when Gwyn was holding the stone: It fluttered with light, like the sun on a shallow sea.
The Invoking Stone is similar to the Siphons of the Illyrians.... Gwyn has a Blue Invoking Stone that matches with Azriel's Siphons and the Invoking Stone is used for healing and protection, which is the perfect counterpart to Azriel killing...
Also, in regards to that earlier picture where she mentions the next book and a pegasus....
Who in ACOSF was most loved by a certain pegasus? Gwyneth Bedara (P.S. this was revealed during the ribbon cutting scene in Chapter 60, which I will post below, and again happens after the bonus scene takes place.)
"As if it had been following one path and now branched off in another direction" and "Right then and there. That's when it all changed." <--- This to me is Sarah telling us her plans changed and in this scene both the world and Azriel paused/stilled..... and he stilled as if aware that far larger forces peered into the ring as Gwyn moved.....
I think it's clear after reading ACOSF that Azriel will get his own book given how much he was prominent in it, and taking into account the bonus scene, and what happens after..... Sarah has shown us who his love interest will be.
These two will heal and grow, both individually and together, and I can't wait for their story to be told. 🥰❤🥰
I’m on my Gwynriel era (been here since 2021 🤓)
So, I’m here thinking about them, and how they will challenge each other, make a lot of bets, make inside jokes, they have so much potential to grown together and heal together.

So here a few things that I think will happen, or I would like to see/read in their book.
I said here once, but I would to see that the shadows talk to Gwyn, I know we don't have evidence yet, but I think when Gwyn ask Az if he can sing it was because maybe she heard something, and the way she smiled to them (you can't tell me the shadows aren't the captain of the ship, and don't give me "it's good for Az if they left him", it's BS, the shadows are part of him)
Bets. We know they both are competitive:
Gwyn asked Az, her teal eyes bright, “What do we get if we finish the course?” Az’s shadows danced around him. “Since there’s no chance in hell any of you will finish the course, we didn’t bother to get a prize.” Boos sounded. Gwyn lifted her chin in challenge. “We look forward to proving you wrong.”
“Az had let his brother boast. Especially since Azriel had been planning his own victory for a year now.”
Encouraging. They will push each other to their best version, to recognize that they both deserve good things.
Chemistry. All their interactions are so good, and funny, they have a really strong set up. If they talking it's like this, can you imagine they flirting to each other?
“I blame Cassian for this. He's too busy making eyes at Nesta to notice such mistakes these days. Azriel laughed. — I'll give you that. Gwyn smiled broadly. — Thank you.”
Opening. Gwyn is comfortable around Az, he isn't self-conscious around her, so they will be able to talk to each other without their past, traumas get the best of them. [Don't give me the "she is a SA survivor speech", she is, but she isn't her trauma, and she can have everything she likes, she reads smut books, and she isn't a child.]
Spying together. Az is the spy master, and Gwyn showed abilities to become one.
She smiled crookedly at Nesta. “I kept to the trees the first two nights, watching the beasts, and I spotted that horrible male and his companions this morning. Saw they’d found my nightgown and displayed it, and I knew they were hunting for you. I thought I’d take them out before they could find you.” “You led the beast right to them.” “I learned where the beasts sleep during the day,” Gwyn said. “And that they get very angry when awoken.”
Gwyn and Az have so much potential, if you see the details, the songs references, the spark, the glow, all of this is used to describe a match bond, anyway, I'm here for them, I can't wait to read their story.
Something sparked in Azriel's chest, but he only nodded his thanks and left. He could picture it, though, as he ascended the stairs back to the House proper. How Gwyn's teal eyes might light upon seeing the necklace. For whatever reason… he could see it. But Azriel tucked away the thought, consciously erasing the slight smile it brought to his face. Buried the image down deep, where it glowed quietly. A thing of secret, lovely beauty.
The first image is Az in thinking about how Gwyn’s teal eyes might upon, after the solstice party(witch happened half way in ACOSF).
Then, in the second image, we have he actually seeing it, after the Gwyn, Nesta and Emerie beat the course(that happened after the solstice night, so after Az imagined Gwyn’s eyes).
Sarah knew what she was doing, you can’t tell me this is wasn’t done by purpose.

Can we talk about this?? Az is the new ribbon, he following Gwyn, and he was amused, the way she looked at him 🤌
And she already knew that he can sing?!
I love them so much, maybe not much as the shadows, but I love.
Let’s finish with this, the shadows dancing, Gwyn challenging Az.

About the necklace
So, I know that the necklace Az gave to Gwyn was originally for someone else(and I know that this detail could be a problem in the future, though I hope not), but that is a few things that I keep thinking.
1. First is something I read here on Tumblr( I don't remember where, *sad face*), it said that: when Clotho said "She deserves something as beautiful as this.", she could be referencing Az, since she didn't saw the necklace, she didn't open the box. Maybe Clotho can see through the box, but I like to think that she meant Az by saying something beautiful.
2. Another think that I read, it was the Sarah used the description of the necklace "A thing of secret, lovely beauty", to describe as well the "Buried the image down deep, where it glowed quietly". Sarah don't do things without some further purpose, and I'm curious to see what is behind all of this.
3. The bonus scene happens during ACOSF, but after that, we didn't saw Nesta or Cass saying anything about Gwyn wearing the necklace, so I'm curious to know, did Gwyn wear it under her clothes? did she not wear it at all? I need more info, or theories.
4. Four and one of my favorite thoughts on this necklace thing. Why did Az give it to Gwyn? Because of the other one gave it back? Some people might think that the "reuse" of the gift it was a bad thing, and in some ways I think it is, but, Why give it to Gwyn? Az wanted get rid of it, and even said that Clotho could give to any priestess who might like, but, his first thought was Gwyn, maybe because when he went to bed, one of the last thoughts were about how Gwyn's eyes might light? And I think that she was on her mind during the day, his intention was to return the necklace to the shop, but as he came back, he went to the library, so something made he change his intention, maybe this something is what is glowing quietly inside of him.
5. Not related to the necklace, but I love how after the solstice there are more interactions between Az and Gwyn.
One more point but this one is just my hope.
6.In my dreams( let me dream ok?!), after the solstice they had private lessons at night that Nesta, Cass and the other don't know about, and that is the reason during the rite, Gwyn could watch and learn the beast habits, Az said to her a few things about spying, and she used his tips. Another dream? Az's shadows somehow talk to Gwyn, I don't know if is possible, but I'd love to see it, can you imagined a conversation between Gwyn and the shadows, and Az completely curious about it?

Reading after I don't know years later, but I was right, I love their friendship, they not only became friends, but Valkyries, and shared their histories :)))))
Just thinking
I was here thinking of my gwynriel, and jus HIT ME, the bonus scene happened right after the solstice, which is in (more or less half way through ACOSF), so when Gwyn said in chapter 60 "See you tomorrow, shadowsinger", and "Az stared after her, brows high with amusement", SHE ALREDY KNEW THAT HE CAN SING.
And in my head it goes like this: she knows this about him, and He knows that every time she calls him Shadowsinger it means more than that, she is saying "oh that's right, I know you can sing".
I'm so obsessed with them (and just not for this, but, their shadows it's like the point signal, they sang in answer [could be related do match bond, and I think it is], they are curious about Gwyn, they react [a good one, they danced] to her, they were happy just to watch Az e Gwyn talk, the image of Gwyn's burried down deep glowed, what else can glow? Yeah, Match bonds).
Okay. That's it, I just needed to put this in words.

Utter silence filled the snowy forest. Even the birds in the pines had stopped chirping.
“Valkyries,” Emerie said, eyes blazing bright.
Nesta grinned through the blood she knew was splattered on her face. “Hell yes.”
