Ten years ago today, my absolute favourite Christmas film hit the big screen!

Arthur Christmas!

Practically everything about this film is perfect: a very straightforward story of Santa’s son trying to get a missed child’s present to them before Christmas morning regardless of whether he uses old or new methods, wonderful characters brought to life through stellar vocal performances (James McAvoy and Bill Nighy especially), quick and witty British humour that only gets funnier when you watch it again and catch all the little details and side-jokes you didn’t notice before, all the visual wonders you’d expect from a Christmas film, a lesson that captures the importance of Christmas from both a modern and nostalgic perspective, and the fact there are no villains or even antagonists in this movie, simply dedicated but confused people who got so wrapped up in their work that they forgot about the original purpose of their jobs.

It’s practically a new Christmas classic that really deserves more attention. If you haven’t seen it, then I definitely recommend it for this year!

Every year I rewatch Arthur Christmas and am reminded what a good movie it is!

The realistic family dynamics and conflict!

Keeping everyone sympathetic when they could have easily made Steve or even Santa a villain!

Steve hitting his shit-taking limit and storming out while angrily singing Gloria.

Grand-Santa being delightfully dark!

Martha being low key awesome at everything!

Malcom remaining likable & sympathetic!

Briney being the most competent gift wrapper you ever saw!

Arthur being the sweetest cinnamon role ever!

The Jokes! The beautiful animation! And most of all the heart!

Easily one of the best Christmas movies of all time!

Arthur Christmas is a criminally underrated Christmas movie and it is my mission in life to make as many people watch it as I can.

Funny? Very.

Heartwarming? I cry multiple times.

Stellar voice cast? Acting legends. All of them.

Go watch it people!!! It should be considered a classic.
