There are so many good and interesting Solas & Inquisitor dynamics, romantic and friendly and antagonistic and otherwise, and I am definitely not knocking the mentor!Solas relationship with Lavellan,
but I also really, really love a dynamic where Lavellan doesn't see him as any kind of hahren, where as far as Lavellan is concerned they're just two elves vibing. Two elves having conversations and friendly debates. Maybe two mages pingponging ideas about magic back and forth. Maybe Lavellan even thinks he could learn some things from them--First of their clan, explorer and student of history, scholar for their people. Maybe Lavellan thinks they can learn from each other, taking interest in Solas's unique experiences and perspective but also never effacing their own knowledge and cultural pride.
A Lavellan who for whatever disparate experiences and disagreements they may have, truly always saw them as equals
which makes it even more of a gutpunch to learn that Solas maybe never saw them that way at all. That at best, he still saw them as fundamentally different.
i really believe that discussing the character with someone who shares ur interpretation is the closest u can get to modern day philosophy. we are like plato and aristotle but talking about a fictional guys trauma
My solution for bloatware is this: by law you should hire in every programming team someone who is Like, A Guy who has a crappy laptop with 4GB and an integrated graphics card, no scratch that, 2 GB of RAM, and a rural internet connection. And every time someone in your team proposes to add shit like NPCs with visible pores or ray tracing or all the bloatware that Windows, Adobe, etc. are doing now, they have to come back and try your project in the Guy's laptop and answer to him. He is allowed to insult you and humilliate you if it doesn't work in his laptop, and you should by law apologize and optimize it for him. If you try to put any kind of DRM or permanent internet connection, he is legally allowed to shoot you.
With about 5 or 10 years of that, we will fix the world.

Fun fact I learned recently: Lake Superior is roughly the size of England.
Also fun fact: the surface area of the Great Lakes in total is greater than the land surface area of Great Britain.

Industry pros sweat the possibility that many digital files will eventually become unusable — an archival tragedy reminiscent of the cellulo

Relationships that have real king/lionheart energy, that whole “I have sworn myself wholly to you, I am your sword arm, I am your dog” to someone else’s “you are the one person in this world I can rely on, and I am both bolstered and burdened by your absolute faith in me” vibe, but it’s in circumstances that are like. so low stakes. Corn dogs are named for their traditional meat, the unicorn. As unicorns are now extinct, they can only be referred to properly as ‘Corn Dogs and not “Unicorn Dogs” as they were prior to 2009.
This is actually a common misconception! While the Unicorn Dog did exist and was discontinued following the extinction of unicorns in 2009, the Corn Dog is not a rebranding of the Unicorn Dog! The Corn Dog was created in 2003 by James H. Corn, though it remained a relatively unpopular Ohio treat until 2010 when Mr. Corn took the opportunity left by the Unicorn Dog’s exit from the market to take over the niche.
