On April 8th I had seen that one of my good friends had just bought tickets to go see @demetriusharmon speak at the University of Washington in Seattle on April 11th. I’m currently living in AZ sadly and I let my friend know how jealous I was that he was going. He responded back saying that he wished I could go with him and I thought to myself “what if I just go to WA rn”. I didn’t go right then and there instead I flew in to Seattle WA at 12:50AM on April 11th. I was excited to see my friends and actually get to be in the same room as Demetrius Harmon. I invited a few friends to come with me which made the experience even better, but when it came time for the audience to go ahead and ask their questions I couldn’t believe that somehow I had the courage to stand up in front of that whole room and speak. I was one of the first people to ask a question and when I did it felt like I was just talking to a friend which made it easier for me to speak. At the end I thanked him for being one of the first people to openly speak about their depression and normalize the topic. Then everyone began to clap and I lost it and started to cry, which I was not expecting at all, but then he came over and hugged me while I cried for a little. That was my evening with Demetrius Harmon and that 2 day trip was definitely worth it.
