Basically Owens vsmp finale
Came to me in a dream
Anyways while we're at it let's say there's a guy who's killed a bunch of people on several occasions with a gun. And he still has the gun. And now he's like I promise I won't kill anyone with my gun anymore. But he won't put the gun down. He actually can put the gun down, unlike some people. He just won't. He's like oh nooo I might die without my gun, but if I shoot anyone with it you can kill me. When he could just put the gun down, which would reduce the risk of anyone being killed - though obviously he could still kill someone without a gun, people do it, but it's not quite as easy, you know?
Anyway. That's why I think Scott Goldsmith should have been cured at the end of vsmp.
Vampirism as a gift and vampirism as a curse are both pretty significant motifs in vsmp, but I feel like it's also pretty important to keep in mind the conception of vampirism as a weapon.
Like, regardless of the individual vampire's feelings towards their condition, the point remains that it gives them the ability, if not necessarily the inclination, to enact extreme violence onto others.
Owen is the most obvious example, especially if you contrast him with Ren; both lash out in grief and anger after the death of a loved one, but only Owen is able to slaughter an entire town as vengeance because he's a vampire. Louis's gift did not only cure his disease; it made him stronger and faster than any human could hope to be, and Owen uses this newfound strength as he sees fit.
And he's not the only one. As Legundo regresses to his soldier days, he asks Cleo to turn him as a last resort because he recognizes vampirism for the tool that it is. Apo, ever the reluctant draftee, has a weapon pressed into her hands and is given the choice to use it or die. Drift eventually justifies accepting vampirism to herself with the argument that she doesn't have to be scared anymore, that she feels safer; basically akin to carrying a gun for self defense. Obviously she hopes she doesn't need to use it, but if she does - well, they can't hurt her if she hurts them first.
every day i get a little madder about the ‘dream job’ narrative… all i want is to have a job that benefits society somewhat, doesn’t abuse me, and lets me live a happy life outside of my job lol. jobs should not be (and arguably can’t be) cosmic destinies and identities

its funny to me how warmups for instruments generally sound nice and pretty. like just basic scales or chords. the exercises i do on my guitar could be mistaken for actual music at times.
and then vocal warmups are shit like. bark like a seal. grunt like a thwomp from mario 64. now sing the melody but instead of the lyrics youre saying 'moo moo mee mee mah mah' even the scales you gotta moo mee mah through that shit and its just so goofy every time. and this is why im not a singer
see this is exactly what i mean. i thought someone was having a mental break of some kind in my notes until i remembered what i had posted last night
realistically a lot of ships would never fuck without a degree of dubious consent if not straight up rape
did this as a warm up cuz this line engraved itself on my brain
tearful expression of anguish and dismay → "no, no, no, no, no-" → orgasm
ykw in retrospect I probably should’ve been watching scott’s streams concurrent to vsmp because looking at some of the things he was saying about his character towards the end of the series feels like watching the sea receding ominously from the shoreline. such as:
(1:23:26) “what have I done after turning pyro? like, I’ve not hit pyro at any point after the shelby thing. he betrayed us by lying about his secret bunker. but like, I never asked him to call me sire. (…) pyro has very much done that thing where like you make, or you… in your head, make up this idea of what a person has said or done rather than just going based off of what they’ve done, and like you act according to that image. like he has this image of me being this big evil scary thing, because I am, but I’ve never done that to him, if that makes sense. like, other than—obviously we turned him, like yes that was brutal, that was violent, yeah. but like, since him being on the vampire side I’ve not done anything after, per se.”
Just so we’re clear, if I point out that you did something racist, that’s not the same as me thinking you’re irremediably terrible. You did a racist thing.
You think you don’t do racist things, homophobic things, etc? You do. I caught myself in fat phobic and homophobic lines of thinking/speech just this morning. I’m fucking gay married. Nothing disqualifies you from acting in a way that reflects the society you exist in. We are obliged to fight it. Why not fight it in honesty and with camaraderie?
