As someone who is from South Carolina, I think that the conditions we provide you are quite generous. Because of us, you have a place to stay and food to eat as long as you are working hard in the field. We provide you the means to survive for your time of day and work in the fields. As for the rain storm you had to work hard through, you must understand that if you didn’t work hard, all the money in the crop would be lost which would not only be bad for your owner, but for you as well. I think you should be more respectful towards the people you work for because I have connections in South Carolina and I will find out who you work for!

There  has recently been an outbreak of illnesses in my area as well. Im not quite sure that my local physician know a lot about my sons and daughters sickness and I worry a lot for them. Their skin turns yellow and their body feels very sore so I have just had them resting. Three out of the four of them who had it survived so I think those are pretty good odds! Rest up and take the southern physician’s advice and then you have a 3 out of 4 chance of survival! Best of Luck!

I feel as if these past few weeks are finishing out well. Things are always improving more than mistakes occur, and everything seems to be running smoothly. I am so thankful that I moved here to the southern colonies because I couldn't have asked for a better place to be. The refreshing warm weather keeps me away from the harsh winter the other states have to deal with. Cold weather is not for me!

Yes, I have to cook and clean all day while taking care of the house. However, at the end of the day I have a great family and an even better town that I live in. Im so thankful that I don't have to live in the crazy backcountry! I don't know how they survive with those terrible crops and colder weather. Maybe one day in the future they'll even have slaves that work really hard without rebellion!

A terrible tragedy has struck my family in the my daughter Cornelia has passed away. The four of my sick children all felt better one day but then the next day Cornelia just wouldn't wake up! Oh how devastated everyone was. She was the best at sewing out of all my six girls. Although this sad event has put us back in production of our plantation a little bit, things must return to normal and I have to just teach another one of my daughters to sew better. 

Throughout my daily chores I must take care of the house and order the servants on what to do. I wake up and get dressed and make sure the butter is made for breakfast. After eating I tidy up the house a little because the slaves can never clean to my standards. Some of my sons are working in the field because they are strong and one of them I sent away for a college education. The girls and I sew and knit in our spare time making blankets and clothing. Although everyone is sad about the passing of Cornelia we all must move on because there is lots of work to be done.

After last week was so frustrating, this week is even worse. The illnesses that I was so thankful my family hasn't caught has finally come to four of my eleven children and my husband. Samuel and Jonathan are needed to do the labor and help their father around the plantation and Cornelia and Jane were just getting the hang of sewing. Everyone is running around our lovely home rushing to do their daily activities because were so short on people. If only those slaves would  work a little harder...

Samuel, Jonathan, Cornelia, and Jane are all complaining of their head pounding and they're vomiting all over their room so I had to relocate them somewhere it would be easier to clean the mess. I feel as if their skin is starting to turn yellow, but maybe I'm just imagining it. I hope they feel better soon and that work can return to normal for my husband.

Today i'm not in the best mood but I decided to let you all know how I fell about the people who work for me. Slavery in Georgia is obviously something you can't live without. And i'm not sure how the poor people survive with actually having to do hard labor. Anyways, the tobacco plantation that my husband owns takes a lot to be taken care of. The slaves have to water the crops, make sure the tobacco is ready, and it's very hard to boss them around!

Today they pulled one of their foolish stunts on me and I just about had it! They broke one of my best tools that I payed a lot of money for. They were apologizing but I knew they didn't do it on purpose because they don't want my family to make money! I gave them severe punishments of brutal whippings that made me feel slightly better of the money our family had to lose today. The life of one slave won't really matter if they didn't want to work hard, plus it will make the ones who remain work harder to save themselves from being punished too which I will gladly do!

Hello followers! I've decided to document my life living in the south and the events that occur in my life. I recently had someone paint a picture of me and it came out wonderful with the dress a sewed myself so I thought that I must share it with you.Things in my family have been going very well so far in the sense that no one has fallen ill, the winter is not cold but the wind is hard to bear on top of being already sick.

All around us are people who are dying and becoming very sick very quickly. The doctors treat the people to the best that they can but sometimes it is just too late. There are many families that are being split up with husbands, wives, and children dying. I just hope that God will end the madness and protect the people of the Southern Colony.
