Birds of a Feather

There had been a few bumps here and there when keeping work out of his time with Kadar. A couple of slippery situations had been taken care of, his leg was healing alright, and his boss stopped asking where he went so long as his job was done. The only thing that was truly bothersome were the longterm missions..

Sergej scratched his neck idly, “He’s a pretty large dog and he’s not used to visitors. That and, uh, he might not take kindly to you ‘breakin’ in’.” He checked his watch and tipped his head to the side as he thought, “..I’ve probably got a couple hours if I book it later.”

Kadar still felt terrible whenever he remembered that Sergej had gotten hurt because of something and he had been nearby. Granted it was something that happened often in both of their lives, either intentionally or not. Still, Kadar tries to not think too much on it and instead focuses more on the happy times they spend together.

"Oh... Maybe I should just wait until you come home, then." It would probably be a while, but he wouldn't mind waiting. Getting potentially attacked by his dog would be bad, and the last thing he would want to do would be to hurt it. "A couple of hours?" He perks up a bit and smiles up at him. "What do you want to do in the meantime?"

The slight swinging brings a warmth to his chest. The mercenary didn’t find it childish so much as simply endearing. It still surprised him how sappy he could get over the Arab. Kadar would probably laugh at him if he gave voice to half of the things that crossed his mind when they were together.

But he had to control his affections for now, “That’s..good. When you, uh, get to my house? Call me. Before you open the door.”

To be fair Kadar was equally infatuated with the mercenary and their odd times together were quite a sight to behold if anyone happened to know their occupations as well as their generally rough exteriors. How Kadar managed to keep work away from his and Sergej's time together, near impossible to comprehend. A good grip on what was personal time and what was appropriate at certain times, perhaps.

"What do you mean...? If you have a dog, I think I can handle myself." Though he's never met Innokenti, so maybe he shouldn't go assuming anything so fast just yet. "When do you have to go?" A slightly disappointed question.

There was a smirk, “Oh ho, I’m sorry my locks aren’t challenging.” He snickered.

It took him a second to actually respond as he was too busy staring at Kadar’s face. “..Hm? .. oh, right.” He reached into his back pocket with his free hand and pulled up a couple texts on his phone. “… … I might be a little late tonight .. but you can go in anytime. Innokenti will watch over you and the house.”

As he was sliding his phone back his face scrunched and he sighed heavily, “Shiiit, uh.. how do you feel about ..uh… dogs? Large dogs.”

Another laugh comes from him and he brings his free hand up to cover his mouth with the subsiding snickering.

The pause doesn't bother Kadar, though the staring does get him to awkwardly rub at the side of his neck. He looks over to the other's phone as he looks at it, glancing up to his face when he tells him he'll be late. A small frown appears, but it disappears just as quickly.

"Oh... Okay." It shouldn't be any problem. Give him time to run his errands since Sergej will be busy anyway. He hums lightly in thought. "Large dogs...? I've never had a dog, but I love animals." A bright smile, swinging their hands between them gently.

Sergej missed the look as his eyes had been upturned. But they returned to the shorter when he spoke again and squeezed his hand.

A sincere smile plastered itself on the Russian’s face and he walked a little closer to the other, “It’ll be locked but I’m sure you can just let yourself in if I don’t answer, right?” He smiled playfully and pulled on Kadar’s hand so that their shoulders could nudge together.

Their shoulders brush as they walk closer together, Kadar happily squeezing Sergej's hand again in excitement. Now he wasn't one to brag or anything, but... "Yeah, it wouldn't be too much of a problem I don't think," he gives a short laugh and looks back up at the taller male.

"When should I head over?" He supposes he could get a few errands done before having to go over there, but to be honest he would rather forget his errands and spend more time with the other. Sadly, their work kept them from making rash decisions like that.

There’s a snort and a roll of eyes, “Like you need to ask.”

The taller hummed a negative and waited for his question..only it was cut off. Cornflower blues blink owlishly and he felt his own cheeks warm at the inquiry. “Oh.. uh.” He shook his head at Kadar’s attempt to retract his statement and cleared his throat, staring up at the sky, “I mean.. I don’t mind. I’ve got plenty of room, it’s just me an’ Innokenti anyway…”

The answer makes him smile again and he nods his head curtly. That was always good to hear--when he didn't get to see Sergej often it... helped knowing that he hadn't really forgot about him and that he still wanted to see him.

Confusion crosses the Arab's features for a moment as he looks up to the other, head tilting to the side curiously at his words. Though, his own colored cheeks are still fairly warm from his initial inquiry, and Kadar simply looks down to the ground instead.

"That sounds good... I uh-- look forward to it." Fingers tighten around Sergej's hand as they continue walking.

Unfortunately it wasn’t really something that could be avoided. And if he knew that it would have saved another life he would have done it again.

He tugs a hand out of his pocket to tap at his chin, “Hmmm…” His hand came up to cover Kadar’s, “We’ll just have to see then, won’t we?”

"Yeah..." Blue eyes glance to their hands, before he playfully nudges him with his shoulder. "Now that I'm back in town though, we should have more time to spend together. Is that okay?" Always so polite, even when he knows the answer.

Pulling Sergej along he looks back to him every now and then. "Is... work going to keep you busy tomorrow? I... can come over tonight if... u-uh..." Oh no, that was a bit too fast and too sudden even for him. Red colors his face and he looks away to make sure Sergej can't see--or at least try to avoid him seeing. "N-nevermind."

Sergej just laughed lightly and waved him off, “It’s alright, the boss has been keeping me busy since..well, yeah.” He pat his thigh idly.

The memory of his leg injury was pushed aside, “Awesome, I’m buyin’.”

"Oh." There's a moment where Kadar glances down to Sergej's leg, frowning slightly before trying to smile up at him once more. It was just... sad to be reminded. Something that could have been avoided or... something he could have at least helped more with. Shaking his head, he tries to not think about it anymore.

"That's not fair! We should at least split. One of us pays for the movie, and one for the food." He steps closer to him, an arm wrapping around one of Sergej's. "Or... you can still pay for both anyway and ignore what I say..."

The taller frowned at the not thought about it comment. But it was made up for when he said that they should visit each other more. Blues brightened and he puts his hands in his pockets, “Yeah, for sure. Innokenti’s been missin’ you, too.”

He could feel his cheeks starting to hurt, he didn’t ever smile as much normally as he did when he was around the Assassin. “Are you doing anything now? ..Do you wanna maybe get a bite? See a movie or something?” Man, he really was acting like his dog…

The smaller just grins up at him and bounces slightly on his heels. "I miss him too. Sorry, I should have been trying to get in touch with you... But you know I am not always allowed to uh... have my phone." Slight shrug.

The questions make a gentle hint of pink cross his cheeks. He ducks his head down shyly and chews on the inside of his lower lip. "Nooo..." He waits a moment before speaking up. "That sounds good to me. Whatever you want to do."

"Ah!" The sudden embrace makes him return it a tad awkwardly, but he does nuzzle at him. "I… I missed you too." He looks away and smiles to himself. "It’s been a while, yeah. What have you been up to?"

Chuckles and backs up a bit, patting his shoulder, “Sorry, guess I got a little excited. Innokenti must be rubbin’ off on me.” He smiled at him and rubbed his arm, “Just work here and there, I guess. You?”

Kadar gives him a nod before chuckling a bit. "I didn't realize how long it has been. I guess I've been so caught up just... doing work and stuff, I haven't thought much about it..." It was sad though, because the Arab was so attached to the Russian. Difficult to really forget about him, so he was technically lying. He was just really busy.

"I should really come over some time. ... And you're always welcome at my place if I'm around. Or... not around." Heheh. A hand comes up to rub at the back of his neck. Butterflies in his stomach. It's been too long.
