trent and cody are literally NARRATIVE FOILS and i know that term has been pounded into the ground but its TRUE trent is effortlessly cool while cody is awkward but trent is much more emotional while cody is more methodical trent is emotionally intellegent whike cody has trouble reading the room and theyre literally put side by side in season 1 to demonstrate this and i know its mostly to make trent look better to gwen but also cody is so awkward and tries way too hard and is so obviously insecure and the butt of so many jokes but trent still likes him and respects him on a level the other characters just dont ans trent sees cody for who he is through the veil of overcomphensation and theyre best fucjing friends and im-
