As a Lakers fan, Iāve never been a huge fan of LeBron, which doesnāt mean I canāt appreciate his greatness. The dude is unlike anything weāve seen in this league.
I understand rooting against him, but to hate him completely misses the point of sports. We need great polarizing players, they make the game a lot more interesting. Much like the 1960ās fans discovered with Wilt and the 2000ā²s with Kobe, we will miss him when heās gone.
EDIT 1: In the first version of this list, he was number 10. After the 2015 season, especially his heroic Finals performance, I was tempted to move him up the list, but without any additional awards and accomplishments, it just wasnāt possible.
I specifically said āIf he wins another Season MVP, or ring, or Finals MVP (which he almost certainly will), heāll move up the list.ā
EDIT 2: That 2016 performance was absolutely unbelievable. To beat the greatest regular season team EVER, AND to come back from a 3-1 deficit, AND win Game 7 on the road, AND do it for a city that hasnāt won a title in half a century, AND lead all players in every statistical category. I mean, that warrants a huge jump on this list, and I put him at number 5.
I really donāt think he will be moving any further, because the guys above him are giants.
EDIT 3: After yet another marvelous season in 2017 and no end in sight to the epic career heās having, he may be going up after all. But for the time being, he remains at 5.
