Just Finished Playing: Eliza

Thoughts

I’m super late to this game (released in 2019!?) but I couldn’t imagine a better time to discover it. Exploring the reality of characters connected to an budding AI counseling program…🫩 too close to home, man

All in all, with the landscape of technology changing so rapidly, I am so appreciative of a visual novel that explores the implications and philosophies associated with artificial intelligence, mental wellness, and societal development.

This was a really interesting story, especially toward the end. The visuals are also quite pleasing to the eye. Most of the characters feel very lively and complex, but I must highlight my fave…

Finally, more good aroace rep! 🧡💛🤍🩵💙 She’s thoughtful, sensible, and has a big heart that is influenced by her past traumas even though she still struggles. <3

Just Finished Playing Arise: A Simple Story

Is there a video game version of the “Absolute Cinema” meme?

Like I need it now more than ever 🥲🙌🏽

Excellent soundtrack, fittingly present but definitely not distracting

Entrancing and touching cutscenes that make for perfect checkpoints

Simple (ofc) yet appealing visual designs (loved the sunflowers, bubbles, and snails in the Joy stage 💛 and don’t get me started on the Romance stage, so endearing)

The game is ALL TIMING, which was just the right amount of engaging to keep the game challenging but not too frustrating

Solace is probably my favorite stage✨🌌

Nonetheless, the game is truly simple but it’s far from shallow or boring. It takes a lot to actually bring tears to my eyes, and Arise really got me at the very end. I’m a sucker for a perfect ending 🤷🏽‍♀️

Highly recommend!

I didn't think Walter's death would hit me so hard but actually playing it and hearing the narration do made me feel bad for him, he was so hopeful of living at least one day out of the bunker and yet he lasted seconds
