Stop defending Shane Dawson

If you think about making excuses for this greasy fucking slimeball heres only a small fraction of some of the things Shane Dawson did:

-Racism against black people, specifically targeting black women since they’re vunerable targets and he knew his audience would let it slide

-Violently describing how he would kill a black woman in his podcast because she had called out his racism, saying that he would cut out her tongue, slit her throat and make her say violently racist things:

Misplaced kindness, when you do more damage than good

During the boss fight against monster Six there's a number of theories reducing the meaning of the music box as it's just too important to her. But something I never seen others point out is in just how much visible pain and agony Six seems to be in everytime you hit the music box, and again sticking with the concept that this game is largely from Mono's POV, from his perspective this is a NECESSARY pain to get his friend back. Of course this would be a easy decision to make for someone not in the receiving end of that pain: "This is what's best for you."

There's a lot of factors to consider that we don't see from Six's perspective, like how long she has been on the tower, and how much torment she has gone through for her to be twisted the way she was. For Mono is more simple: "my friend is in the tower, the music box is doing this to her. Even if she is in pain, I can get her back if I destroy the music box." And what follows this thought process is a action Six used to consider safe, like Mono calling out to her, now being a torment hurting her over and over again.

I believe the last hit to the music box is the worse one, because you can hear Six sobbing through the entire process.

I think people tend to scrutinize Six a lot for her actions, but believe Mono is completely good, just a boy helping his friend. But what they all fail to consider is the traumatic ways Mono often chooses to save Six. He hacks the door open with a Axe, he lets her fall head first after she is strung up by the bullies, and chooses to destroy something important to her to save her instead of finding alternative ways that won't hurt her as much. I believe this is all unintentional however, but it does show some underlying dark side from Mono's part who probably sees all his actions in a altruistic light, which mainly take into consideration his own feelings first.

what blows my mind most about the usa is how a lot of people have such an outdated, patriarchic, patriotic, racist view on what the country should be like. instead of getting mad or shocked when they hear someone got murdered by the police, their initial reaction is doing research to justify their death. “he had a fake dollar bill” so he deserved to choke and die, rather than being talked to and maybe arrested? “they thought his toy gun was real” so he deserved to get shot and die, rather than being asked a few questions about it? “her boyfriend shot at the cops” because he thought the people quietly entering his home in the middle of the night were intruders? and like you advocate for the right to bear arms and protect your home with it, he was using that right?

you’re proud of a country where people die at the hands of the force installed to protect them. you’re a person who cannot say “they didn’t deserve to die regardless of the mistakes they might’ve made”. you’re advocating for the right to bear arms but you’re not advocating for the lives of children who were just playing outside, who were walking down the street and napping on the couch, for the lives of the people sleeping and living in their homes, the men selling cd’s, leaving a corner store, jogging in the neighborhood. you advocate for lives that don’t exist, lives that are career paths that are chosen, lives that are costumes that can be taken off at the end of the day, over lives that are brutally taken without any consequence.
