Love is With him (Dark Glinda POV) Part One
TW-dubious consent, disassociation
Nothing really happens in the chapter, it’s just Glinda refusing to acknowledge what she knows is true.
This is inspired by the lyrics of “Girl in the Bubble”, the train station scene, and Fiyero dissociating in “Thank Goodness.” 😂 (don’t know if I’m laughing or crying.)
It’s not really a Gelphie story, but Galinda liking Elphaba is a big part of the story
Glinda straightened the pillows of her perfectly pink room. Each shade complimented the other perfectly. I guess she finally got the private suite she so desperately craved back at Shiz. Her stomache curdled at the mention of Shiz and she pushed it to the back of her mind. Carefully she pulled back the sheet and settled in. She clapped her hands and the all the lights turned off and Glinda was left alone in her perfect wonderful room. She closed her eyes and shifted to one side and drifted into her slumber.
“Galinda!” She was startled by the use of her birth name as she shot around. Although she would be lying if she said that she didn’t recognize the voice instantly. It was her Elphie. The girl sported a frown across her face and she was pointing to the words on the page before her with her beautifully manicured nails. Dream Galinda closed the book and pushed it away from them.
“Taking a page from Fiyero’s book, I see.” Elphaba teased. Glinda smirked.
“Please, as if Fiyero would ever have a book.” She snapped back.
“That’s not true, the other day I gave him one of my books and he-” the imagery faded away to a picnic, Nessa and Boq were talking about classes, and she was still talking to Elphie, but her gaze kept flitting to someone behind her, exasperated, she looked behind her to find Fiyero. He was holding Elphaba’s favorite book and carding through the pages gently. She turned back to Elphaba who looked amused.
“Would you stop looking at him.” Galinda yelled. Weird. She would never yell like that.
Glinda shot up, her body was warm and hair was messed up, no doubt from her frantic state. She quickly got out of bed and rushed down to the guards quarters. It was fairly early in the night still, and if she was lucky, she would catch Fiyero before bed. She was right. She peered in the door to his bed and saw him sitting in front of his mirror. He looked tired, insanely so. He had bags under his eyes and his hair was messed up, there was no smile on his face, not like the one in her dr- never mind. She liked to not think about it. Regardless, he was beautiful. Like Elphie, she thought. She didn’t know why she thought it however. But they were different. Fiyero was beautiful in a way that she didn’t have to explain herself to anyone. He just was. It was a universal truth. He was the most beautiful person she has laid her eyes on. So why did it sometimes, not feel like enough. Perhaps it was because he gave her eyes everything they wanted, but not her heart.
She sauntered into the room and sat on his bed. He turned over his shoulder and gave her a smile. One that didn’t reach his eyes.
“He’s distant and moodified.” A memory rang through her mind.
“Galinda, what are you doing here.” He spoke. Brushing the hair that has fallen in front of his eyes away from his face. His wonderful, mesmerizing face. She blocked all other thoughts from her mind and focused solely on the man in front of her. Her boyfriend. The man anyone would be lucky to have, because he was sweet, and carefree, and gorgeous. Traits that even Glinda wouldn’t deny. He was perfect, and even when he wasn’t. He was imperfect in the most perfect way. He made mistakes with the right intentions and Elphaba saw it too. She has chosen him to save the cub, and after, she has asked for him at the train station. Even when Glinda was right there. And had Elphaba asked for Glinda to come with her to the Emerald City because she wanted her to come, or because she wanted Glinda away from Fiyero.
“Hey, you alright?” He pressed further, handing her his water from the table. “If this is about Elphaba, I’m sure she’s alright and-”
“Can we not talk about her.” Glinda cut in. “She doesn’t want to be here.” She extended her arm out towards him, which he hesitantly held in his hand and sat next to her. She ran her fingers across his arm.
“It look like training has been doing you well.” She complimented. She didn’t really know what to say to him when he barely made eye contact with her anymore.
“I guess.” He shrugged, his eyes never once leaving the map plastered on his wall with sightings of Elphaba around Oz. She let her hands continue to roam over him, he sat in a weird stance. It looked like he wasn’t there. Not really. His mind was probably imaging someone else right now. A voice told her. But Glinda pushed it back. She was just being paranoid. Of course Fiyero wanted her. She kissed his cheek, and his stiff form relaxed. His eyes didn’t meet hers. And he didn’t lean towards her, or show anything on his face.
“Fiyero, say something.” She pushed. But her words had no reaction. Fiyero was elsewhere. He kept doing that. What could he possibly be thinking about. She was frustrated, but she shouldn’t be. She reminded herself. In front of her was the most undeniably beautiful person in all of Oz. He was her boyfriend, he listened to what she said, and they were truly and utterly in love. She had everything she wanted, and she could get anything she craved.
