dear evan hansen isn’t that great of representation for people with mental illness
if we say that a female character can only be strong if she exhibits traditionally masculine traits, that’s still holding up misogyny
like a character’s strength should come from their complexity and not their dependence on masculine or feminine stereotypes. if you play up a female character as masculine and having her explicitly denounce femininity, you’re still being misogynistic and saying that things that are feminine are bad and that men are inherently more strong characters than females.
Moon does NOT owe Winter a romantic relationship. She DOES, however, owe him a few other things: an explanation on what happened to Darkstalker, acknowledgement that he had every reason to be angry about her insisting on being friends with the dragon who was committing IceWing genocide, and more than a dismissive "Oh, he's strong, so he'll be fine."
