I used to use just a single dash, but then I accidentally used two and they combined to make that long dash and the way it felt like the words were being ripped out of my character’s mouths… I haven’t looked back.

Having both stories hit a very even round number at the same time is very satisfying. Thank you to everyone that has read in our teeny tiny fandom! I can’t wait to post more for In Memories of Fire and Blood, work has just been kicking my butt the last few days, but I’ve been working on it everyday anyway. The last arc is probably going to be longer than projected. It will be what it will be at this point lol. If this story breaks 200k, then that will be just fine. I’m sure ya’ll won’t mind.

I wrote them to where you don’t need to know the source material to enjoy them because I had some friends who wanted to read my first story who weren’t part of the fandom yet, so don’t worry if you don’t know anything about Life Eater. Be aware of the triggers and practice lots of self care if you need to take a break for any reason.

So I know that I've already been posting Chapters for In Memories of Fire and Blood but I found something in my drafts that I think is funnier than it should be.

It was this thought that inspired me to start In Memories of Fire and Blood. February 2nd. Like 10 days after I finished posting In Dreams of Blood and Water.

Still working on the final arc, but I have a really clear idea of how to accomplish it now that I've reread the first story again. Planning on posting Chapter 7 this week.

And thus I pass another milestone. 150k words. I'd write more but I've done another 1,500 today and I have to get sleep so I can be useful at work tomorrow, but I'll probably lay in bed trying to plot out the end in my head rather than sleeping lol.

I've heard once that being a creative is actively trying to be comfortable with frustration.

Sometimes I get frustrated that In Memories of Fire and Blood is taking as long as it is. Today, I looked at my current word count and it's 30,000 words longer than In Dreams of Blood and Water was at the end. I'm also now working 40 hours a week where I wasn't before and I still reached half of the output I was when I was unemployed. I also have been struggling to adjust to my new job, falling asleep as soon as I get home most nights. So, maybe I'm not writing 40-50k a month anymore but I wrote 20k in May and I'm still trying to write everyday. I still wake up at 5:30 in the morning on workdays because I still think it's worth it to get an hour of writing in before heading in to the office. There isn't a day I want to give up and that's the most exciting thing about this.

I love where the story has gone. I love that things that felt unfinished are getting more attention.

I guess all of this is to say: keep going. Keep going when it feels like everything you're doing is terrible. Keep going when it feels like things are amazing. Keep going despite everything.

In Memories of Fire and Blood is now 126k.

I make jokes that by the time everything is said and done... I'll be looking at closer to 150k but honestly that sounds neat.

This has been the longest and most important 24 hour project of my life.

Okay I was editing this morning… and the first fifteen chapters have hit the “ready” state. I also realized I had one chapter that was 10,000 words so I had to separate that out lol. We’re getting there, we’re getting close! I just need to finish the last few chapters and do a full read through/edit.
