Sorry if this is a stupid question- what exactly is the misceverse? (Am I spelling that right?) is it like- a lifestyle? An identity? Is it a chosen thing? Or is it just like an aesthetic? I know nothing lol- any information would be greatly appreciated

not a stupid question!!! i wanna start of by saying to please take everything i say with a grain of salt for 2 main reasons:

1. i didn’t know until a few months ago that other people felt the same as me or that there was a whole misce community! so there are things that i probably haven’t seen/heard of in specific terms :)

2. the misce verse is all very personal to who you are, your identity, and what it means to you!! so what is true for me may not be true for you or anyone else :)

moving on, im not sure how familiar you are with the concept of the omegaverse, so i’ll very briefly explain in case you haven’t heard of it! the omegaverse is a fictional setting/universe based on (since debunked) hypotheses about dynamics among wolves. so in the omegaverse, each person has a secondary gender that is either alpha, beta, or omega, each with specific characteristics that people explore in fictional writing ! i’m sure there are much more detailed explanations of omegaverse out there if you want more in depth info :)

the misceverse is a community of people who take concepts/practices from the omegaverse fictional world and apply it to their own real lives - whether that’s in gender identify, lifestyle, etc. “misceverse” is kind of an umbrella term, there are more specific terms that align with certain animal groups that people use if they feel more connected to those, like miscecanis for more dog/wolf centered feelings, experiences, identities, miscefelis for felines, and many others for different animal groups! one important thing to note is that this isn’t pretend or role play for the people in the misce community, it’s our real identities, feelings, and experiences.

because it’s so intwined with each person’s identity, there are so many different ways it shows up in people’s lives - whether they have a designated scent for themselves, identify with specific characteristics of the label they identify with (like whether or not someone experiences “typical” omega things if they identify as an omega), how they feel about packs/finding a pack for themselves, heat/rut cycles, etc.

at its core, it’s about adopting parts of the omegaverse that align and resonate with YOU and making it a part of your day to day life and incorporating it into your identity :)

a common misconception is that the misceverse is inherently sexual, which is not necessarily true. for some people it is and for some people it isn’t, and that’s for them to decide! at the end of the day it’s about your gender and your lifestyle!

there’s a lot of overlap with the alterhuman, therian, and kin communities too :) this is sooooo much info so i’m sorry if it’s overwhelming/confusing, but i hope it helps!

i also want to say there’s sometimes some confusion because of tagging !!! a lot of people (like myself) also tag with some omegaverse tags in order to find and connect with people who may feel the same way and don’t know about the community or haven’t been able to find it :)
