Lesson 9: Collaborative ICT Development
A Reflection Paper
Collaboration is a working practice whereby individuals work together to a common purpose to achieve business benefit. Contradictory to the usual way of working together, it is not necessary to be physically together in order to work as a group. There are various online collaborative tools to help users interact with one another even at a distance. Websites like Facebook and features such as creating groups and group chats enables people to communicate and exchange ideas. Wordpress as well as Google Drive and Terello also allows multiple people to work on different files and multiple contributors for a single blog which are free and can be used efficiently and effectively for online collaboration. It started form the do’s and don’ts of internet usage, internet ethics. netiquette, internet privacy and internet security; we are now discovering and exploring the websites, how they work and what benefits they can offer.
There are blogs and websites that we can categorize as personal and many of them are prepared and produced by multiple people. Collaborative ICT content enables us to obtain more knowledge and it happens through web portal. A web portal is a website that contains information form different sources and places them in one location in a uniform way. Yahoo! is one example of a web portal where news, emails, weather and others are located and found in one page. There are plenty of online collaboration tolls and it excites me because now, our groups and school organizations can communicate and interact through the use of these tools in the internet without having to be together physically and spending hours, going home late and risking pur safety in order to collaborate to finish our tasks.
Collaborative ICT Development is significant in our lives and this lesson enabled me to become cognizant of the tools offered in the internet. It made me realize that distance is not a hurdle in working together and achieving our goals.
Davao Bombing: Attack against Humanity
An explosion at a night market in Roxas Street, Davao City on Friday night, September 2, killed at least 14 people and injured more than 60 according to Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella.
An improvised explosive device caused the explosion and the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) has claimed responsibility for the blast. ASG spokesperson Abu Rami said the Davao attack is a "call for unity to all mujahideen in the country" amid the all-out offensive of the military against the group.
The Davao City explosion has prompted Duterte to declare a state of lawlessness across the Philippines.
Davao blast may be a diversionary tactic aimed “to ease up the pressure that they [Abu Sayyaff] have been experiencing in Sulu” where government troops have been deploted following the President’s order to “destroy” the group.
The attack may have been no more than a diversionary move. However, it is no longer an attack against the president but rather, an attack against humanity. Several innocent lives were affected due to the explosion. The bombing was a savage attack on human lives – on our culture of life, and we want swift justice for the victims and their families. It is no longer about the government, the Aquinos nor Marcos, neither is it about origin nor religion, but a crime against humanity, an act of selfishness, hatred and fear.
Terrorism knows no borders. It does not discriminate against race, religion and political affinity. It is simply an attack against God and Humanity. And we shall stand as one nation- rigid and just, unswerved and shall not be consumed by fear. The success of terrorism is how long a victim will stand up so rise amidst the ruins, Barog Dabaw.
