And there he goes. Drowning in a inch of water, just because Karl is somewhat good with words. It’s too easy, really. Someone else would’ve already gotten bored, seeing how little it takes to make that poor, little mannequin completely panic - and from the looks of it, except with that eternal smile on his face, even the statue seems kind of disinterested, swinging back and forth and stretching (as if he even needed to do it…!) as he looked around.

   Needless to say, he’s having so much fun, despite the simplicity.

It’s one of the few, yet certain joys in life. Having someone seemingly so heroic and strong tremble in front of him is cathartic, especially if said someone is meant to keep an eye on him for that damned castle.

“Hmh, I’ll give you that. I ran away. I figured that, hey! Might as well take some time on my own and have fun by myself, instead of disturbing the–” oh, hold up, he’s counting “…four visitors! We don’t want this wreck to lose even more costumers, after all. But then Jackie told me I’m supposed to be always under surveillance, and then I wanted to give you a surprise and get back to you like the good statue I am. It’s not my fault if you like to rest around here.

Hehe, man… When I’m around you don’t want me, then when I run away you lament about it… make up your mind, Cloth-Guy!”

oh, this is getting worse and worse. if climber had lungs, he would be hyperventilating right now, trying to make a sense out of the words that the other is saying. he’s aware that he’s turning the words against him, he’s aware karl is just having fun torturing him. he always does. but at the same time...

at the same time, it’s like climber is compelled to answer. to try to say the right thing and show that he’s capable of responding, just to never be able to. it always ends like this - with karl laughing at him, and climber feeling more and more useless.

he shouldn’t have told castle and jackie that he would have kept an eye on karl. he’s... he’s not able to! he’s always been used as a carpet, as a toy to break and throw away, as just a mean to have a good laugh at his own expenses. he’s not able to answer back. and he’s not able to fight back, because he doesn’t want to hurt the statue. the fact that neither of them can feel pain is just a mere detail - hitting karl would require the mannequin to use the pickaxe, if he wanted at least a slight effect, and that would mean break karl. which, in his head... is hurting him.

                he deserves it., something murmurs in his mind, making him shiver.                                     why is he having such thoughts, suddenly...?

he shakes his head. no, no, keep it together. answer, he needs... he needs to answer, he needs to explain himself. be-because he obviously didn’t explain himself good enough the first time, no? karl could... could be telling the truth, maybe he’s just confused. the problem is c-certainly himself, not the statue, h-he did wrong, h-he was the one who did wrong.

though not needing to breathe, climber feels the closest feeling to losing his breath. eyes open wide open, staring at the ground, just to close as his hands slowly grasp his helmet. his mind is getting confused. he’s still in complete possession of his body and his thoughts, yet he can understand that there is something that shouldn’t be there. another shiver runs through his body. he knows what it is. he knows who it is.

          but he doesn’t know why he’s there...! why is still there...?!

« wh... why are you li-like this, karl...? » he asks, without completely realizing to be speaking out loud. eyes still closed, he shakes his head, a gentle but constant tremor in his hands. « why a-are you like this...?! »

That’s on Castle, really. He could’ve made that poor mannequin learn more than the essential before throwing him out in the wild. That’s just cruel. It’s like he was built to be made fun of!

       …still, apparently his comment isn’t enough to fully distract that… sorry excuse of a babysitter. The statue still smiles, of course - he always does -, but the look he shares with Arma, on his shoulder, would make even someone as naive as Climber understand that he’s kind of annoyed with the whole situation.

He was… so close…

“…I was saying!” Karl continues, still with the brightest, most credible of cheerful tones “You were the one who decided to stay around here, and since I’m supposed to be always around you of course I had to be closer to the humans as well, no?

This is what I meant. You’re just cheating to try to get me into trouble, don’t you? How mean….”

oh, climber definitely notices that look. and in all honesty... it makes him extremely uneasy. he knows what happens when karl feels annoyed, especially when he’s near him, and even more when he is the cause of it. it doesn’t matter how much the mannequin wants to reply to that comment - as soon as the glance is noticed, words die in his throat, and his hands tighten the grip on the pickaxe.

and so karl can continue to talk, making everything even worse.

« wh-- WHAT?! » he exclaims, voice much more tense than he wanted it to sound. that accusation had sent him a sudden rush of panic - thinking to be the cause of karl’s presence there was... was bad...! « y--you never stay beside me!! i w-was-- i was taking a break b-because you ran away a-and i couldn’t find you a-a-and you--! i just found you, y-you didn’t even n-noticed i was i-in the cart! y-you can’t... y-you can’t blame me--!! »
