CATCHING A BREAK WOULD ALMOST BE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. "Us catching a break ? Yeah, we would be so lucky." And also sounds like how every horror movie starts. Things starting not too threatening, not too much of a concern... until it is. Hughie holds the flashlight tightly secured in his hand as he flashes the light at the SAID MONSTER following them. Emery speaks up before Hughie can even say anything. A fucking raccoon munching away on some food. Hughie instead lets out a slight chuckle in response and pretends to swipe away imaginary sweat off his forehead. "Phew ! Wow. I have to say I'm actually happy seeing something so normal for once and not... well, WHAT WE'VE BEEN DEALING WITH."

Hughie states with a grin stretching across his lips. With the whole having to hide from Homelander and his followers. STAY LOW AND DO NOT MAKE THEMSELVES KNOWN. This norm was very much missed. The raccoon is in the middle of eating from some abandoned bag of chips, only stopping because of Hughie and Emery. Snatches up its food and scurries off with a hiss. He couldn't help but burst out laughing, A REAL LAUGH. Something so real and just so random. He can't even say why he finds this so amusing... a world filled with scary killer supes out to hunt him, and the raccoon had managed to make him jump back a bit. Guess no matter what, he's still him. He still hates seeing blood and being covered in it. He's not lost himself.
