I couldn’t sleep so I made a themed mix tape. The theme of this sort of transformed over the course of its construction, but the spirit remained the same. It’s a collection of songs meant to capture the general feelings I’ve had lately of being single and the difficulty that finding a person I like enough to bother dating has been, with the past few months being punctuated with go-nowhere crushes, too-brief makeout sessions, and failed attempts at dating. On one hand, I like the freedoms of not being in a relationship, but on the other I miss being a boyfriend and the romantic treasures that exist while in a commitment with someone special. It’s a weird conflict of life direction that’s had a sudden yet prevalent place in my mind, so I figured the best course of action to relieve some headspace would be to have some fun and get a little creative with it. What’s more, the songs were purposefully chosen for their parallels to a lot of (mostly sappy) personal feelings and/or events in my life, so in a way it’s pretty revealing. Hope you dig it. DOWNLOAD

This mix is 15 years old and the link still works. I was digging around old tags, reading some personal posts I used to make on here, and the most shocking part is that I've spent a good chunk of this year already listening to a lot these songs because that's where my feelings ended up taking me. 2026 has been a weird year where echoes of the past are coming to visit me non-stop, and the vivid memories have been making me feel like I'm traveling through time. Feeling anything is great, especially the things you thought you lost, so I welcome this bizarre time capsule of songs that still have meaning. I threw a surprising amount of stuff from Tempe, AZ in it, too; what a truly bonkers thing to re-discover.
