Real talk: I don’t think Roxas is as mad about that as people want him to be? His whole arc in 2 is coming to grips with that whole shitty situation.

And keep in mind 2 was written before Nomura even knew 358/2 was gonna be a thing (it was pushed for by Nintendo) so Roxas was coming to terms with, not having the life that occurred in the simulation (he cries and is sad when they leave Twilight Town) despite knowing it’s a simulation. Which yes is very fucked but still.

And then you get to Dream Drop which is post character arc and 358/2 and Roxas still seems okay with it all even if morose. He tells Sora “it had to be you” showing his acceptance

And then Sora rightfully says “that’s bullshit, it should be both of us!”

Which yeah he right. But it doesn’t change Roxas’s resignation.

But yeah seeing as I don’t think Roxas holds any negative feelings about it other than, extreme melancholy. He would probably be okay being friends with Riku. Especially since Xion was on good terms with Riku.

Oh that will be a fun convo.

Double-checking bits of the KH2 and 358/2 Days scripts for this fic really drives home just how much “I think [Roxas] left the Organization because he really wanted to meet you” is a wildly charitable reading of the situation on Riku’s part. Like earlier today I told @loobywibble that it was technically not a lie, but then I was reminded of the “Sora, Sora, Sora! Enough about Sora!” bit in Days and it’s like buddy. I think that was a lie actually. I think you told a fib. You’re lucky you’re not a puppet because your nose would be getting longer and so soon after you got your regular face back.
