WAS SOMEONE EVER GONNA TELL THAT LOIS CLARK AND JON CAME FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSE???
At least at one point?? I don't know if that's been retcon but what the hell??
For those wondering what I'm talking about, I'm talking about the fact that I've read all of Jon's appearances (at least the early ones), and even though I haven't seen or read everything, what I've gathered is that the three of them come from another world and have taken Clark and Lois's places in this one.
Which is wild that I've never heard of this before??
It's about the rebirth flashpoint and Earth 0
And it's not exactly bad it's just that, wow, technically Jon (and Clark and Lois) are from another universe!
I'm new to comics, so if anyone wants to explain whether this was a retcon, whether it's still canon, or if I misunderstood something, etc., I'd love to hear it!
lmao so the SHORT version is:
-DC rebooted its continuity via the New 52 initiative, it went downhill reasonably fast -They did a storyline/miniseries explaining that the versions of Lois and Clark from before the rebooting (also known as the Post-Crisis versions) had actually arrived in the new universe and been raising a kid in the background for the past decade -DC killed the New 52 versions of Lois and Clark and the Post-Crisis versions briefly stepped into their roles -They did another plot explaining how BOTH sets of Lois and Clark were sort of separate halves that had been ripped apart via dimensional bullshit; Jon did some shonen protagonist power of love stuff and got his parents to merge with the dead spirits of the other halves -tl;dr reality adjusted AGAIN and now Lois and Clark's histories and backgrounds mostly align with the Post-Crisis versions but with Just The Good Bits of New 52 sprinkled in. It's very confusing.
There are probably some things here that are not quite right, but it's what I took away from a bunch of reading I did in recent months. I'm not new to comics but hadn't read DC in quiiiiiite a while so had a lot to catch up on. It gave me a brain cramp.
Honestly I don't think you need to sweat the details too much. The whole set of bullet points is basically DC going "shit shit shit this reboot was a mistake, how do we get things more or less close to how they used to be while still moving the story forward."
