Ninlil shrugged. “I got away with killing 30 people within the timespand of 2 years when I was alive. No one ever found out it was me even after my death because I know how to cover my ass.”
She pinned another profile to the board, a sinner who was an amazing hacker, who didn’t exactly owe her a favor but was bought easily enough for the right price.
“When I arrived in hell 5 years ago, it took me less than a week to figure out this place was just more of the same.
Crime runs rampant and the Sinners who are on top are the ones who can get away with atrocities without being caught until they’re too powerful to care about getting caught.
Once I started working for the royal family I threw myself into learning that particular game. There’s a hierarchy, there are rules, there’s a way to conduct and carry yourself in public. Each one runs their territory differently and each one has a unique set of skills that keeps them on top. Yours is Lust, and the ability to travel. Lucifer’s is Pride and his ability to create, and so on and so forth.”
She pulls her long hair back into a a tight bun, before she flared out her wings, stretching them before tucking them away again.
“So to answer your question, about 7-8 years. If this was a royal game, you could play how someone of your station usually plays… but it’s not. This has become a Sinners game, so you have to play this like the Sinners do. And if you can’t, then you’re gonna get eaten alive and you risk losing the respect you’ve carefully curated throughout your years.”
She turns and stares at him in the eye.
“Valentino doesn’t care that you’re a sin anymore than he cares Lucifer is king. Valentino doesn’t care about your wealth, he doesn’t care about your power. The only thing he cares about is your social influence. Because to him, that is where the power lies, and if he can make you loose that influence, he can open up a window to steal it for himself.”
“Valentino is a lot of things, he’s Bipolar, he’s short tempered, he’s a manipulative freak and a monster…. But he’s also capable of being incredibly charming and wonderfully creative. He knows what to say and what to do to make you let your guard down, he can stay close enough to distract you but far enough to put you in a false position of confidence.
And he’s not alone. He has Vox by his side, and he has Velvette. He is not someone to be underestimated. What he lacks in intelligence he makes up for with brute force, and unless you know what to say to appease him, his anger also makes him unable to be reasoned with. Not to mention Vox and Velvette are the brains of many a scheme.”
“You came in here talking only about Valentino but that was your first mistake. You think our only threat is Valentino but it’s not. It’s the whole triad, it’s the Vees. If you take on one, you’re taking on the other two as well.”
