Sorry to drop in like this after such a long absence (I am qorking on Policy 8, I promise) but I just wanted to let people know that, if they are happening to be in or near Suffolk (England) in September and onwards, an anthology film featuring a short film I wrote will be making the rounds. Its called Once Upon a Time in Suffolk and my section is about a solicitor's office that specialises in magic getting approached by a woman who promised her firstborn to a fairy. She needs help breaking her contract with the fairy so she can keep her baby and it is up to Nellie, the main lawyer's daughter, and Jack, his clerk/apprentice, to save the day.

If I ever get a free moment, I would love to write a story where the members of Lockwood and Co are historical reenactors who live full time in the castle they reenact for and they discover the castle is haunted so have to stop the ghost before it hurts someone.

I have this idea of George refusing to buy a step stool when he first moves into 35 Portland Row because it gives him an excuse to summon Lockwood and make him feel needed. Within a few weeks Lockwood buys George a stool and George breaks it only for a cycle to begin of Lockwood buying stools only for George to break them in increasingly bizarre ways.

Writing for Policy 8 and accidentally creating a person I hate more than Miss Heath...

George always write Lockwood and Co's yearly reports, which is a job Lockwood should do, but Lockwood is the one who goes to present them to Barnes and has to have a meeting with him discussing the details. And George therefore makes it a game to include embarrassing details/statistics Lockwood will need to explain.

The most infamous of which was a table detailing the number of kisses Lockwood gave members of the agency over the 12 months. Lucy, of course, is getting into triple digits most months. Skull is sitting solidly at 0. George listed 1 kiss for himself from Lockwood in June and Barnes spends 20 minutes trying to understand what the situation is. (Mostly because if Lockwood cheated on Lucy, he will be arresting him. Barnes wants grandbabies already)

It's past midnight so I am making myself sad thinking about an elderly Lucy who stopped listening to ghosts years ago but now releases her talent has finally faded just as she has said goodbye to her husband of over 60 years, Lockwood.

I started this fanfic a few days ago but my back decided it hated the idea of me being productive so I want to share the idea with you.

Basically, Jessica and Kipps are the ones who start the Lockwood and Co agency with Jessica doing the research and Kipps being the field agent while they essentially co-parent Lockwood and the dynamics are basically like this:

Kipps = new version of Lockwood

Jessica = new version of George

Lockwood = new version of Skull, complete with constantly suggesting Kipps should die in horrible ways because Jessica is his sister, not Kipps' potential girlfriend

To me it’s very canon that there are rules against agents (specifically from the same agency) dating. Especially at places like Fittes.

It's also a rule at Lockwood and Co, a heavily ignored rule, but it becomes a running gag that any time George mentions Lockwood and Lucy dating in front of them, they shush him and warn him 'He'll hear you', pretending that the Boss is some terrible monster who has forbidden their love.

A tragedy we don't talk about enough in relation to Lockwood and Co being cancelled is I think that Cameron Chapman and Ruby Stokes would have probably really enjoyed getting to play ghosts and haunting the other.

Lucy: Of all the wonderful things about being married to Lockwood, there is an unexpected benefit. George: All benefits of being married to Lockwood are unexpected but go on. Lucy: Lockwoods are so bad at doing what they are told I have essentially put a genetic protection over all my descendants in case Marissa returns in search of a body.

I want to put out a little plea here and say make like George Karim and pay a visit to your local archive. Every council run archive I know in the UK is free to access (they often only require you to bring a piece of ID to prove who you are) and they have a sorts. Diaries, photographs, administrative records... the archive I work out has a folder dedicated to news cuttings of ghost stories from one of our particularly haunted towns. At our archive we also offer free access to Ancestry, Find my Past and the British Newspaper Archive.

Archives are an amazing resource and are constantly being forced to justify their existence by proving people use them. People use them to learn about their own families, fight for public rights of way and find out about where they live. Most things in an archive are open for access so if you are writing a story about the 1800s, what better way to research it then to actually hold a diary from someone in that time?
