my gender/sexuality hcs for the old guard archive crew:
- michael shelley: cishet. he/him. died a virgin on sannikov land in like, his mid fifties.
- jonah magnus: cishet before the words ‘cis’ or ‘heterosexual’ were like, ever a thing. he/him.
i cannot explain to you people how overwhelmingly cis this man is. not only is he cis, he ( canonically ) doesn’t know how to cook or clean anything himself, and ( not canon, but i know it in my soul ) doesn’t wash his dick. he wasn’t homoerotic in the regency age he just hated women
- elias bouchard ( og ): cis. he/him. sexuality:
- gertrude robinson: i know she’s cis. she/her.
frankly i can’t see her having any time for romance or sexuality? not so much aromantic as that she sees the entire business as impractical, in her pragmatic world view of things. would especially be an interesting contrast in the terms of her vs. jon, where jon’s link to his humanity is specifically via the form of his romantic love for martin, and she just has no interest in pursuing that. ( again, not necessarily bc she’s incapable. she just thinks there’s no point in getting that close to people. )
- adelard dekker: trans man, he/him. straight.
there’s not a ton of transhet rep out there. this one’s one that @gerrydelano and i kinda felt out together. i’m not going to go too in depth about some of our shared thoughts on his gender because i don’t want to give away things ron might delve more deeply into in pbr, but i’ll share some of my thoughts.
probably wouldn’t use the term ‘transgender’ for himself, all things considered! since it wasn’t a term that came into being until more recently - would probably refer to himself either as transsexual or, before that term, ay’lonit - one of the six hebrew genders that can, if you look at the term from a modern perspective, be interpreted as trans man, though it might just give dekker a good starting point to talk about his own experiences when trans resources weren’t really that common.
carried one of his and his wife’s kids, and got a hysterectomy afterwards. he’s glad that he did, but once was enough for him.
- mikaele salesa: trans man, he/him. gay.
not much else i can say here. i think salesa lucked out in the genetics department, and is glad for the height his genes gave him, taking advantage of it. i think there’s something to be said for the relationship he has with his gender/his sense of identity and the relationship he has with his crew - something about the good or redeeming sides of masculinity. protection and camaraderie, broad hands and broader laughter. it doesn’t feel right to him to not be working with his hands.
- eric delano: cis. he/him. probably straight, honestly. if i had to specify, i’d say his gender is malewife.
- mary keay: cis. she/her.
alright so here’s the thing i think. mary could also be attracted to women? just like. hang on the best way i can put it is probably
- peter lukas: cis incel. he/him. does it matter who he’s attracted to? he’s never going to get any either way.
