There’s been an issue the past few years, the last decade really. One I haven’t spoken out against enough; to now I’ve mainly reblogged and liked other people instead of putting it into my own words.
I’ve been watching the country’s slide into more fascistic and authoritarian domestic policy since the Obama era. I was still in high school when George W. was the president and I was a freshman in college when Obama was elected, so that’s really when I started paying real attention, but I knew the typical historical & left-wing main points. Raegan should be burning in Hell, Thatcher’s unisex bathroom, Nixon’s corruption, etc., But I’ll keep it to the last 15-ish years.
First there was the Wall Street Bailout in 2008 during the Housing Market Crash. This is one of the rare spaces where George W. Bush was better than Obama. Bush wanted to give money to homeowners and Obama torpedoed that idea in the crib. Obama takes a lot of blame for how lopsided the recovery in 2008 was; banks made billions and everyone else was crushed and lost their homes. Then he systematized drone warfare and the assassination of Anwar al-Awlaki and his kid, both US citizens, without a trial. The US Government was now killing citizens. Without a trial.
Worse still has been the long-growing, right-wing tolerance for and push to legitimize political violence. It was something that we saw coming for decades, well before it became blatant with the Tea Party’s reactionary, racist effigies and rambling about FEMA camps and Birth Certificates.
Oh, hello there Donald Trump. We’ll get to you.
Right-wing extremist violence has been rising since the 90’s, while left-wing violence has been both almost non-existent and vigorously, even over-zealously punished when and if it ever did happen. Case in point, there’s a reason why the Occupy was shut down within a few months of peaceful civil disobedience; the Black Panther Party was killed and bombed out of political relevance while the Bundy Ranchers could get into multi-day armed standoffs with the government and walk away from it and, to this day, continues to steal from US taxpayers by illegally grazing his cattle on federal land.
Left-wing political activism is a threat to the rich and powerful; right-wing political activism empowers those same people. It’s little wonder why Fred Thompson was killed and Cliven Bundy gets to be a Fox News personality. He’s gone back to threatening to shoot cops, by the way.
This lopsided, imbalanced treatment of criminals has culminated in the current state of the USA’s active and energetic collapse. Pushed to do so by truly wicked bastards. I’m not even going to get into any international pressures or geopolitical forces; the role both foreign states and US foreign policy (Fuck the IMF, Free Palestine, Slava Ukraini) in accelerating the catapulting to the right of America, straight into a wall to go splat. Those topics are broad enough to deserve their own focus from someone better equipped than I am. And, frankly, I am trying to get this up and out there as quickly as feasible.
I won’t even really touch on the historical roots of this beyond the most current monsoon of bullshit beyond calling out Raegan (and Thatcher) should spend the rest of eternity getting kicked by Brown, Queer, Black, Indigenous, etc. people in the depths of hell. One man’s hell is another man’s Heaven, after all. Nixon too, with his drug war and racial policing. All my homies hate Nixon. Did you know he’s the root of why the Supreme Court said Money is Speech in the first place?
Right. I said I wasn’t going to discuss that. Whoops.
Charlie Kirk died. To put my thoughts on the matter succinctly; I have no qualms with people killing a wannabe-Goebbels. The man didn’t just “debate people”. He was a dishonest actor who got “beaten” in debate countless times but never changed his mind. He actively took billionaire cash to help push policies and propaganda that lead directly to the culture that got him shot at another school shooting.
It’s important to point out: Charlie Kirk was an idiot. He was propped up by billionaire dollars literally his entire adult life. He dropped out of college at 18; instead immediately becoming Bill Montgomerty’s mouthpiece with help from Foster Friess. He was given tens of millions of dollars from millionaires and billionaires to run Turning Point USA, and given untold millions through access and influence. He built what fame he had on the back of needing to selectively edit and crop “debates” he had on college campuses, spending billionaire money, and using a podcast to try and bolster right-wing narratives on gun violence (blame the blacks and gun deaths are acceptable), fascism (Trump is great, actually), immigration (they are coming to kill and rape you), gay people (stoning them is perfect) and trans people(trans people are mass-shooters & terrorists who should be “taken care of”).
He didn’t randomly die doing a college debate; he died filming content to fuel the fascist propaganda machine.
Being a propaganda arm for the richest and most influential people in the country is how TPUSA had such a remarkable “growth”. It’s easy to have 800 college chapters when you have as much money as you can beg billionaires for.
Beyond just the public propaganda, Kirk was a republican apparatchik. He had constant appearances at political conventions, including the RNC. He was tapped for Youth Voter Outreach in Wisconsin (Trump lost young people by 23 points), Michigan (Trump lost them by 24 points), Arizona (31 points), and Nevada (30 points) in 2020. Like all evil white men Kirk would fail upward, being put in charge of young voter outreach for Trump’s campaign in 2024. Even with the youth vote in open rebellion against the Democratic Party over Gaza, the Trump campaign managed to lose young voters by 12 points.
I actually want to focus on this just a little bit more. Trump’s Youth Outreach netted Trump an estimated 6.1 million youth votes in 2024, totalling 42% of young people, compared to Harris’ 54%. That was more than in 2020, where Trump got 31% of the youth vote, 4.6 million people.
In 2016, Donald Trump got 36% of the Youth vote. Or, 8 million people. Charlie Kirk, with the full force of a united Republican Party behind him and unlimited money from millionaires and billionaires got 2 million less votes than Trump did in 2016. While young voters were in open rebellion against the Democratic Party, leading to the DNC even cancelling their primaries because the amount of “uncommitted” votes was too embarrassing. With a completely shattered and tone-deaf opposition party and a vaguely “anti-war” candidate, as laughable as that is, Turning Points USA and Charlie Kirk, in conjunction with almost the entire podcasting world, wasn’t even as effective as the complete shitshow that the 2016 Trump campaign was.
For context, George Bush in 2004, in the midst of the Iraq War, only lost the Youth vote by 13 points. In raw totals, George W. Bush, in the middle of the Iraq War, got 5.6 million young votes. To reiterate: Turning Points USA managed to get 6.1 million votes. That is 500,000 more than George W. Bush did in 2004.
Congrats, Burning Ghost of Charlie Kirk. You did one-thirteenth better than George W Bush during the Iraq War. Truly a master of your craft.
Charlie Kirk was an active participant and proponent in the degradation of American society. Granted, he was regularly outsmarted by college students on topics he picked ahead of time, his organization was and still is kept afloat by endless amounts of billionaire money, and he couldn’t even mobilize the Youth Vote to leave Kamala Harris in the middle of the Gaza Genocide. So…we can’t exactly say he did much to benefit it, but he tried his best. He couldn’t even come up with his own schtick; he stole “Prove Me Wrong” from Steven Crowder’s “Change My Mind” bit.
He gets a Participation Trophy posthumously.
He so desperately wanted to matter that Turning Point USA even provided free buses for Jan 6th rioters, and he helped muddy the waters on it immediately afterward for years until his death.
His last words were emblematic of his entire adult life; deflect from serious concerns for problems America is facing by insinuating that it isn’t actually that big of a deal, and if it is a big deal it’s because Black People are Bad.
Why am I getting into this though?
Especially in a time where citizens are being deported without a trial, where the US is threatening to seize people’s passports if they espouse Politically Incorrect opinions. The White House is on the cusp of proclaiming the Democratic Party as a terrorist organization, with all of the threat of imprisonment and execution that entails. When we are bouncing from trade war to trade war and courting open war with Venezuela because we just want to keep killing their civilians why am I laser-focused on this imbecile?
For all his dreams of grandeur, for how clearly he wanted to be Goebbels in this new Orange Regime, he was never going to be that guy. And pissing on the memory of a fascist in real time is both fun and important. He obviously wanted to run a massive and influential propaganda network but he was too dumb and too incapable to be anything more than a funnel for billionaire cash.
That’s not really a question though, is it? It’s obvious.
They’re making lists of people who are insufficiently sad about a fascist getting shot. People who even have the gall to quote Kirk when he says, “I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment,” “I can’t stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that does a lot of damage,” or “"Black women do not have brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person's slot,” are getting doxxed, brigaded, and harassed by thousands and thousands of people, explicitly and implicitly endorsed by the US Government.
With all that being said, he’s not entirely irrelevant, though, is he?
Republicans want him to be taken as their Jesus, their Martin Luther King Jr.
But he isn’t the Goebbels equivalent in the distinctly American flavor of Fascism.
He’s our Horst Wessel. A vessel for MAGA to bleat out its warcry.
American Fascists, and their collaborators outside of the government, are trying to whitewash his past. Turn him into an unimpeachable, perfect little Nazi- I mean MAGA Hero. Died for the cause, and better than their enemies.
They need their Horst for the same reason the Nazis did. They need an excuse to justify their fascist transformation of the country. It doesn’t matter that there’s no evidence tying Kirk’s shooter to any left wing organization; the White House is going out there using the shooting to justify their oppression.
“With God as my witness, we are going to use every resource we have at the Department of Justice, Homeland Security and throughout this government to identify, disrupt, dismantle and destroy these networks and make America safe again for the American people. It will happen, and we will do it in Charlie’s name.”
Every day there any number of insane things that the US government is now doing, and the American Left has been calling it out since 2001.
It’s a very simple line of thought. Being a Democrat is being a terrorist >> Being a terrorist means a loss of rights and potential literal exile >> Democrats don’t get rights.
Trump continues just threatening any and every reporter who annoys him. He isn’t even pretending to give a shit anymore. The sitting Vice President and famed Couch Lover JD Vance said that the US Government “doesn’t give a shit” if they do war crimes.
There isn’t even the pretence of “there was an internal memo and investigation about his cell phone.” It’s a simple, straightforward “they’re civilians and we don’t care.”
Stephen Miller, the actual Vice President and sometimes President, has been explicit about how the White House wants to fundamentally destroy any and all political opposition; not by getting more votes, promising what their political base wants, or even stewarding the economy in a way that doesn’t tank bankrupt 95% of us. They’re just going to label everyone not “servicing” Trump a terrorist and arrest any who won’t go along with it.
They’re the State. Arresting people is what the State loves to do. They’ve been talking about arresting Hillary Clinton since the 90’s, and worse things to younger politicians like AOC, Ilhan Omar, and Zohran Mamdani. They’re even resurfacing attempts to deport Ilhan Omar. The duly elected representative of Minnesota is obviously a black muslim terrorist who should be deported, obviously.
I wish I could ignore Fox News Hosts, but since Fox News is a prime recruiting pool for Trump’s regime I can’t. So when their hosts say we should just kill homeless people I have to mention that too. Anyone saying “but he was only talking about-” can be ignored immediately. Nobody is that stupid. Not even Brian Killmeade is that stupid.
The White House made ABC fire Jimmy Kimmel. They labelled contemporaneous reports of Kirk’s killer being right-wing “hate speech”, while saying it isn’t protected speech (spoiler: it is). Except Trump said they were going to get Jimmy Kimmel fired 2 months ago. Weeks before Kirk was shot, Trump was telling ABC that they wanted Kimmel fired.
It, obvious to everyone still paying attention or with a brain stem, was just a pretext to get rid of someone who annoyed Dear Leader.
And of course they want to keep going.
So, why am I writing this? Why am I here, going through a wildly incomplete list of just a few things the American Gestapo has been trying to do in the past couple of weeks at the time of writing?
Because fuck em. Fuck every single simpering, pathetic god-damned loser who voted for this and supports it. They disgust me. I want exactly zero equivocation about this and for there to be zero concept about where I stand on this, at any point. There shouldn’t be any question at all about this to any and all who know me, but this one is for tomorrow, for the day after that, and for everyone who doesn’t and decides to look me up.
They are weak, pathetic losers with a perverse glee for cruelty and some narcissistic Grand Vengeance against people who never hurt them in the first place and don’t even know they exist. They once had a heart and a brain and two eyes and every single day since then they have purposefully and intentionally sliced them out of their souls, layer by layer. The eyes that see their Husbands, Wives, and Children: siblings and pets and loved ones are fucking blind to everything that matters in life. They cut their eyes out because seeing the real world would mean seeing themselves. MAGAts lost the ability to love a long time ago and chase it like an angry, gasping, gnawing ghost.
Their hearts are the salt of the earth, because they’ve long since crumbled to dust and blown away in the wind. They feed the tumbleweeds of the Southwest. And I await the day these victories turn to ash in their mouths and the lot are hung by the neck until dead, like should’ve happened back in 2020 when MAGA first tried to pull this bullshit with their coup and their false elector scheme.
Oh, look, Charlie Kirk helped organize that and tried to cover for it when it failed.
It’s ironic, Charlie Kirk saying the scheme was fake because it was such a stupid-ass plan that it couldn’t be real. Almost as Ironic as Kirk dying in a school shooting while trying to deflect from gun violence by blaming black people.
