Jennifer Lawrence’s $20m Film

Last year, as the release of Morten Tyldum’s science-fiction film ‘Passengers’ loomed closer, media outlets publicised Jennifer Lawrence’s involvement. This was especially the case when it concerned the income she would be generating from it. It was reported that Lawrence would be receiving a total of $20m, with her co-star, Chris Pratt, receiving $12m for his role.

I’m still young but I know enough to guarantee that £20m and $12m are definitely not equal. Now, let me clarify that I do not harbour any ill feelings towards anyone featured in this project. However, why should Jennifer Lawrence be paid an additional $8m? In my opinion, an individual should receive different payment regarding the hours they put in. After all, Lawrence did work for fewer days than Pratt.

You don’t have to love abortion. You can dislike it. Maybe it even makes you sad. The way you view abortion is up to you. If you don’t like abortion, you can advocate for proper sex education, access to birth control and other things that have been shown to lower unplanned pregnancies. You don’t have to like abortion.

But what you can’t do is disrespect somebody for having an abortion. You can’t take away that choice from women because you don’t like it. Your emotions are not somebody else’s responsibility. Your emotions aren’t more important than anyone else’s bodily autonomy. You don’t have to like abortion, but you have to respect other people’s rights and that includes the right to safe, accessible, abortion.

Unpopular opinion: Religion isn’t inherently bad or good. But it is dangerous.

It all depends on the context and how it’s utilized.

Religion can turn violent and uncaring people into more docile and merciful folk, but it can also turn healthy people to self-loathing and guilt complexes.

It can be used for positive social change, but also for violence and terrorism.

It can condone and support research and science, or suppress them.

It can build strong communities and familial ties, but it can also isolate people from their communities and families.

It should be practiced responsibly or it shouldn’t be practiced at all.

Unpopular Opinion: School Rivalries are Dumb

I mean, there are already so many stupid reasons in the world that people don’t like each other. What’s the point in making up more pretend ones?

You can always continue growing, educating yourself, changing your point of view, being more informed and compassionate on something. If you have a new perspective and you change your mind on something you believed in it’s not a flaw in character but an asset in personal growth.

Theon freaking out  jumping when Yara was being held by Euron is understandable.

Euron’s men were torturing their victims, as was purposely shown, and Theon saw this. He remembered Ramsay, then, and the torture he himself had been subjected to. This kind of stuff makes people freak out, and being around it obviously triggered something in him, like he became Reek again, too scared to fight.

I feel bad for him, the poor man. 

Sure, a dramatic redemption and him kicking butt would have been amazing, but would it have been realistic? Getting past abuse is hard. I can say this from personal experience, even if mine was mostly emotional, not so much physical.

It can take years to be able to cope again, even with just emotional trauma, and it requires specific focus on getting better.

Theon did not have years’ time. He did not have time to focus on moving past anything. He was put into the frey again with his sister, still scared and traumatized.

He still felt guilt as he looked back at the Sand Snakes, at Yuron’s ship sailing off. He’d wanted to do something. He couldn’t.

So I don’t wanna see anything about him being weak. As a mentally ill person myself, it feels trivializing of our issues, almost.

TL;DR: Theon is a mentally ill character and he’s portrayed as such, yet he is trying to be the best he can without any aid for his issues or time to focus on getting better. He’s strong for trying despite everything against, not weak for being mentally ill.

Attention SJWs and Anti-SJWs:

Getting angry, swearing, and sending death threats won’t get your point or your views across.

I know doing all of the above is what a social justice warrior basically is (not to be confused with a social justice activist) but I see anti-SJWs acting just as immaturely.

If you want to promote your views, do it peacefully. Being immature and childish by sending death threats is not the way to go.

A big pet peeve of mine is when people get rid of their pets bc they’re going to have a baby. Your pet is your baby, and was your baby first. Its unfair to them to rip them away from their home because you want to have an actual child. It breaks my heart. Whatever the problem is, there are so many alternatives before just getting rid of the pet altogether. I dont care what the excuse is, I’ll never undrstand it. Its being an irresponsible pet owner. When you get a pet its your responsibility to give them a full, healthy, happy life until death.

People need to understand that parents can be wrong. Parents are humans. They make mistakes, they make bad decisions, they mess up. Parents are not invincible and they’re not perfect. In fact, some parents are so twisted in their own minds, that they are poison to their children. They may not even realise it, but it is definitely possible. Parents are just human beings that once used to be not parents. So can we stop forcing this idea that parents are always right and no matter what, you should do as they say. Some parents are terrible parents. We need to accept this.
