what documentaries / books / etc should i watch? i have the smallest knowledge of the history ever but i want to learn / get a better idea of all the major players / etc

whoosh depends on if you wan to learn about frev as a whole or specific time periods/figures from it

Marisa Linton has awesome essays and books on it, so does Peter McPhee. You can def read Stanisława Przybyszewska's plays, theyre very cool and spot on. Steer clear of youtube, there seriously isnt one good video on the french revolutuon there. READ ROBESPIERRES/SAINT JUSTS/ETC LETTERS AND SPEECHES !!!!!! Also try to find newspapars from the era, helps to see how the public was shown the events. I dont think there are any good documentaries per se, but La terreur et la vertu and saint just et las forces des choses (i think i misspelled that) are both awesome 2 part movies. Andddd if you understand russian i highly recommend Anatoliy Levandovski !! He has some cool books on Danton, Robespierre and Saint Just. Its a shame they arent translated to english. All in all look out for the books with thermidorian propaganda and try to find viable sources and youre good.
