I'm growing increasingly disillusioned with the way the trans community as a whole expects trans men to pretend that they have never in their past or present experienced misogyny. Like someone could word for word say the most fouly misogynistic shit to me that is only being said to me because I'm transmasc, if it was said to a cis women the same people who insist I could never really be imoacted by misogyny would very much be able to call a duck a duck

It is a bit fucked up how in a significant number of queer and leftest spaces trans men are expected to cheerfully accept being misgendered or its proof they've 'transitioned too far and have toxic masculinity now' (direct quote)

I admit I'm feeling increasingly uncomfortable with how cis people have been told 'trans bathroom bills operate on a platform largely targeting trans women' (factual) and taken from it 'therefore trans men face no danger at all in bathrooms and if any of them speak about their experiences with transphobia in public in an capacity theyre liars trying to undermine people who Really Deserve Compassion' and 'trans men should be willing to act as meat sheilds for any kind of violence and if they arent they dont Deserve any community' whilst still calling themselves allies (wildly transphobic)

I'm aware this isn't oppression exactly and trans people as a collective have much bigger issues at hand but it does suck that the Internet shorthand rn at least on tumblr, twitter, tiktok ect for something being bad or worthless is either 'transmascs like it' or just 'transmasc' as a descriptor as if things associated with us are inherently bad and worthless

Shout out to all the autistic peeps who weren't diagnosed as kids even though they were very stereotypically autistic because they were afab and their families didn't know anything about autism so they just thought they were weird and lazy, but other kids could tell that they weren't like them so they got bullied into learning how to mask constantly (which put the diagnosis off for even longer) and then they kept on getting burnt out from masking all the time and they had to go to noiser more overwhelming environments as they got older until eventually it became very obvious that they were autistic again and they finally got a diagnosis (which is a whole other story on its own).

I’ve seen a lot of theories that Pink Diamond is an off-colour gem and in all honesty, I dont think I agree with that sentiment at all. In my opinion, and I assume other people have already said something to the same effect but I think that Pink Diamond serves her purpose exactly as she is intended to, even in her death.

I genuinely think that pink diamond was intended to be a force to help keep gem society in line and that almost everything about her from her height to her role on homeworld prior to gaining a colony was meant to enforce it. I think she was intended not to serve as general-like figures in the way that blue and yellow do but meant to inspire loyalty in gem society in a different manner. I think she was meant to function very much in a ‘the people’s princess’ sort of role.

The first thing that made me think of this is pink diomonds height, both in comparason to the other diamonds and to the rest of gem society. Clearly pink diamond is significantly smaller than the other diamonds are, this gives her a much less imposing and overall, more approachable figure to other gems. On the other hand of this pink diamond is still shown to still be larger than all other gems, still clearly ‘above them’ but much closer to her subjects than the rest of the diamond matchriarchy. 

I think it also shows heavily in the social role she played on homeworld prior to being granted a colony, she acts as the sectacle that is used to pacify a population within a monarchy or dictatorship, she was in charge of throwing balls on homeworld, great parties for the uppercrust of homeworld and the rest of the diamonds to attend and celebrate acomplishments of the empire. I think that even the ways that she ‘misbehaved’ during these parties, bringing organics, dancing with gems of lower status only served to inspire loyalty in the gem population in a way that fear and shows of force cant acheive. The idea of sweet and loving pink diamond who loves her people so much she even occasionally forgets herself has the potential to be used as an incredibly powerful tool for propaganda. 

I think its also to mention on this point to mention how pink diamonds ‘rebellious behaviour’ interacts with her immense power and privilege, in that people in positions of power are given infinately more leeway in being non-conforming to socital expections than anyone else, for anyone else this behaviour would be damning, but for pink diamond herself? She’s ‘sweet’ she’s ‘silly’ its easy for the rest of the diamonds and gem high society to point and say oh isn’t she quirky, isnt she oh so endearing. Of course she cant be allowed to stray too far from the mark of nonconforming behaviour, she still has to toe the line, any more than these silly incidents that paint her as a loving leader could be destabilising, dangerous to the status quo. But these little things? Those are acceptable, good even for the kind of loyalty that can be inspired by a socities people to see one of their leaders as ‘just like them, really’. 

Even in her shattering pink diamond remains a powerful propaganda tool to control the population, she goes from a sweet and more personally loveable figure and becomes a martyr. A tool that can be used as a fear tactic of two sides, the side of villanising the crystal gems and the rebel forces into these monsterous figures ‘look at what these evil gems did to pink diamond, the gentle diamond, the diamond that was so compassionate she wanted a zoo to preserve organics from her first colony, the littlest diamond’. On the other hand she can also be portrayed as a warning in homeworld ‘pink diamond who was too compassionate, too gentle. If even a diamond herself can be shattered for not meeting her purpose perfectly, what hope is there for you if you dont comply’, ‘you arent like those killers, are you?’ and in the fact of that kind of mythos the truth of pink diamonds destructive powers, her temper seems almost irrelevant doesnt it?

All of that to say is that I think what people point to signs of her defectiveness are in truth purposeful factors to aid in the easier control of a vast and powerful empire!
