The thing I love most about Dune is that there's so many genres within the whole arc. If you look at it from Paul's PoV it's a horror story, where he's manoeuvred toward a fate he can prevent. For Leto II, it's a philosophic self portrait. For Irulan, it's an IKEA Kitchen drama meets a history documentary. So many shades.
