Teeth

Satya was sitting in her living room, her youngest daughter, Rajni sitting in her lap, reading a book out loud to her and her eldest daughter, Eva was playing with some odds and ends that Jamie had given her on the floor (after she had approved of the pieces, of course). Jamie had taken Aarush to a nearby Junkyard to get pieces for their little father-son project (a surprise for her, apparently.) and they were due to return home any minute.

She heard their door unlock and open, “WE’RE HOME!” Jamie cried into the house with a cackle.

“Da’! Aarush!” Her little girls cried as they put down what they were doing and rushed over to the front door to hug tackle their father and brother. 

But they were ready for them, Jamie was on his knees, Aarush by his chest and both of their arms were out and ready for hugs. Rajni and Eva leapt in, their father’s flesh arm quickly pulling them in while he pushed them off of the floor with his metal one to greet his lovely bride with a peck on the forehead.

“‘N how were me girls today?” He asked her, beaming as he slipped her into the family embrace, “Perfect as always?”

“Of course.” She purred proudly as she snuggled her babies, “And how did you two fair?”

“We got some good ones, I’ll tell ya tha’! But tha’ wasn’ th’ highloight, though!” He said cheerfully.

“Oh?” She asked as he released them from the hug and picked Aarush up for all to see.

“Ready?” he asked him. Aarush nodded eagerly. “On the count of three, alroight?” Jamie said, looking to his daughers, “You two can help with the count down.” The little girls beamed at this and smlied broadly as he started with, “One!”

“Two!” Eva cried.

“Three!” Rajni squealed.

Aarush opened his mouth and revealed the hole where he had lost a tooth a week and a half ago and the bit of white poking out from his gums, “Mah new toofh is comin’ in!” he announced proudly.

“Really?” Eva said, amazed.

“I can’t see!” Ranji pouted. Jamie chuckled as he knelt down to bring Aarush closer to his sisters, who looked at the new tooth in awe, “Does it hurt?” Rajni asked. Eva looked worried at the suggestion, but Aarush shook his head.

“Nope!” he said, pleased with himself. His sisters and mother were pleased with that as his father brought him back up for his mother to get a better look, “It seems to be coming in nicely, but I’d like to schedule a dentist appointment to be sure.”

“Oh, come on, love.” Jamie said dismissively as he put Aarush down with his sisters, “He’s far too much loike you ta get my teeth.” He then gave her a large toothy grin, revealing his pearly white (except for a few golden ones), but jagged, teeth.

“Da’s got shark teeth!” Eva teased.

“Oh do I?” he purred playfully before holding out his arms and began chomping his teeth like a shark seemingly would, their children squealed with delight at the thought of a fun chase with their father as they fled into the house, Jamie not too far behind them. Loudly singing made up lyrics to the Jaws theme song as they laughed and cried out playful, “Noo!”s when he caught them and pretended to eat them like a shark would.

Satya shook her head as she made the appointment anyways, secretly hoping that her son at least got the pearly white part of his father’s smile.

When the dentist had told her that, yes, the tooth was pearly white as all hell, but he also told them that Aarush’s new tooth was far sharper than it would be normally. Satya asked about the other teeth, worried for her son in case the teeth would cause him pain.

“They seem to be quite large, sharper than usual too. But they do need to pierce through the gums first, so time should wear them down to normal, but I thought you should know just in case he experiences any pain while these new teeth come in.” The dentist said, “If that happens, I’d like for you to bring him back so I can see how we can either help the teeth come out easier or at least dull the pain for him.”

“Thank you, we’ll inform you if that happens.” Satya said, her stomach twisting with concern as she left his office. She walked into the waiting room where Jamie was making their boy (as well as several other families in the waiting room) laugh with goofy faces and jokes.

“So?” he asked after they had paid and were on their way out.

“You were right, the tooth is coming in fine, but they told me to bring him in if any places where new teeth come in hurt.” she said, waving it off as if it wasn’t a big deal as they walked to their car.

“Why would they say tha’?” he asked, confused.

“He said that he tells all parents this, since it’s better to be safe than sorry.” She fibbed. Jamie pondered this before accepting with a shrug and a nod of understanding before he got to work opening the side door and getting Aarush strapped into his car seat. 

Mako and Molly sat in their kitchen, Satya looking at them, concern written all over her face.

“Alroight, let me get this straight ‘ere.” Molly said, “Yer worried ‘bout Aarush havin’ some Junker teeth?”

“Junker teeth?” she repeated.

“Yeah.” Mako replied, moving his mask and showing her his own large, sharper than normal teeth, “The radiation didn’t jus’ mess with our DNA, but our diets. Mine are pretty average in Junkertown, but they’re still pretty sharp compared ta th’ others ‘ere. ‘N kids exposed ta th’ radiation in Oz after the omnium blew all had sharper teeth than ones from the coast, prob’ly cause they had ta eat more meat due ta th’ plants ya could eat becomin’ scarce ‘cause of th’ radiation. Rat grew up in tha’ stuff, so it’s possible tha’ it could be passed down, but,” he motioned to Molly, “Molly ‘ere has Junker blood, but she wasn’t born in th’ Outback ‘n look at ‘er teeth.”

Molly opened wide, revealing that her front teeth were larger than most, her cuspids in particular were far longer and sharper than normal, if they were any longer, she’d think that the girl was wearing fake vampire teeth or something (making her wonder why the hell she’d never noticed how large they were before) but the tips had been worn down over time, looking almost as if she had sanded them down.

“Th’ bac ‘re big too, but tha’s it, stuth” she informed them with her mouth still open before closing her mouth, “‘N it hasn’t really messed with how I eat or nothin’ so I don’ see th’ big deal ‘bout it. I mean, we all loike Rat’s smile… Especially you.” Satya felt her cheek burn at the comment, “So, if Aarush happens ta get it, good on ‘im. ‘E’ll have a charming smile ‘n good looks. Worse tha’ll prob’ly happen is  you, Eva ‘n Rajni will be beatin’ sheilas away with flyin’ hard loight shields.” 

Satya chuckled at that as Mako spoke up, “There ain’ no reason ta worry ‘bout it unless Aarush says ‘is mouth is hurtin’. I don’ see a reason ta get worked up when ya don’ know how it’ll turn out.”

“You two are right, thank you for talking with me about all this, I was unsure about how Jamie might take the news.” She said, relieved.

“He’d probably be happy ‘bout it.” Mako said flatly.

“Shoutin’ it to th’ rooftops.” Molly agreed with smirk.

Satya laughed again and thanked them once more for their time before getting up to leave with a wave.

Ten years later, Aarush Fawkes was waiting on a street corner for his ride back to the Gibraltar base, a plastic bag filled with a few missing supplies for a cake he and his sisters planned to make for their parents’ wedding anniversary in his hand.

‘I hope I haven’t forgotten anything, Molly was nice enough to give me a ride here and back and I’d rather not ask her to have to bring me back here again later just because I forgot something…’ He thought. He pulled his phone from his back pocket and quickly texted his sisters for a short list of what they needed, just to be sure when he felt a tap on his shoulder.

He turned to see a random person looking at him with a partly curious but mostly judgmental look, “Yes?” he said, despite feeling a bit annoyed at the look he was being given, “Can I help you?”

“You’re that skinny Junker guy’s son, right?” the man asked.

“Junkrat is my father, why do you ask?” He said.

“’Cause you look nothing like him.” The man said accusingly.

Aarush managed to be mature enough to not let out a sigh or tell him that did not mean that he was not his son, but knew better than to fight people on this and instead did what normally shut them up. 

He gave the man the biggest, toothiest grin he could manage, revealing the large, sharp glisteningly white teeth he inherited from his father.

“Holy shit..” the man said as he staggered backwards.

“They’re pearly whoite as all hell, ain’ they?” Molly teased with a laugh from behind the man, making him jump, see the armed woman in the motorcycle and flee. 

Aarush closed his mouth and gave her a flat look, “That last comment was not necessary.” he said, unamused.

“Nah, but it made ‘im scamper.” She pointed out before patting the side car, “Come on, me Da’ says tha’ they’ll be back soon, so we better leg it if you wanna have tha’ cake done in toime.” he scowled at her, but got in anyway, a bit upset at the reaction to his teeth. It was because of people like that he hardly opened his mouth when he smiled.

“Oi, Aarush, don’ let blokes loike tha’ get ta ya,” Molly said, most likely reading his thoughts, “They’re jus’ jealous tha’ their smiles don’ have any charm. Tha’ bloke in particular was prob’ly jealous of those pearly whoites you got. I mean, did you see his teeth?” She made a gagging sound before telling him that, “It was loike lookin’ inta a bowl of piss! Teeth shouldn’ be tha’ yellow!” 

Aarush started to laugh as she continued to mock the rude man’s teeth, his laugh not much different from his father’s as they made they’re way back home.

This is kinda based off of a comic bowlersandtophats did a while back about Aarush’s teeth. I love that comic far too much, but I wanted to know how Satya reacted when she first wondered if her son would inherit his dad’s chompers. 

So I made this. :P

CALM DOWN ABOUT NET NEUTRALITY.

Don’t worry. They still have to go to court.

But guess what? There’s something you didn’t know about the vote.

Get this: the vote was basically illegal.

You heard me right. Eric Schneiderman, American lawyer, said in Twitter: “I will sue to stop the FCC’s illegal rollback of #netneutrality. New Yorkers and all Americans deserve a free and open internet.”

Not only do we have another ally, but now we know that the vote wasn’t supposed to happen.

We’ve got this. Now the REAL FIGHT starts now.

He isn’t just any lawyer, he’s the Attorney General of New York State, and he says this is going to be a multi-state lawsuit against the FCC.

HEY FCC

I’m not even from the USA, and sure I consume content from there, the Net Neutrality death won’t affect me THAT MUCH. BUT, I’m empathetic enough to realise that it will ruin MILLIONS of lives! Not online relationships and friendships, BUT ACTUAL LIVES. How many people work through the internet? How many people apply to jobs/uni through the internet? How many people appoint for organ donations online? Destroying Net Neutrality will only cause more and more unemployment in your country and kill millions of people, STOP BEING GREEDY AND LET THE INTERNET LIVE

EDIT: DON’T JUST LIKE IT! REBLOG IT!! Who care if it doesn’t match your theme?? If Net Neutrality dies is possible that people won’t see it!! Tag it and delete it in the future but SOPREAD IT LIKE THE PLAGUE

Today the FCC voted 3-2 to kill the net neutrality rules you helped pass back in 2015

Let’s not kid ourselves: This is a major setback in our fight for a free and open internet. But It’s not the end. Not for us, and we hope not for you. 

Net neutrality is too important to be subject to the whims of any administration. We need legislative action. 

Go to Battle For The Net to get connected directly to your Senators or Representatives. If we work together, we can get it done. Again!

Five little piggies

Angela sighed as she looked out the hotel window. She had been begged to come to a medical conference in her native Switzerland to cover an old friend and honestly, she felt that it would be a welcomed break from the stress of caring for her little babies, whom she loved dearly, but the two wore her out very quickly. Especially now that Molly was back in school and could no longer help lighten the load of caring for such young children and while Mako did his best to help, his size often hindered his ability to help change their clothing or clean them after a diaper change properly (he was so terrified of not being gentle enough and accidentally harming them.) And don’t even get her started on how many times the others had somehow gotten themselves hurt in the past month, because it was far more than any of them had ever had before in the many years she’d worked in Overwatch. 

So when she left, she figured she’d use this time to relax and enjoy a few days to herself (outside of the conference and such), maybe even enjoy a spa day while she was here…

But now? It was her second day here out of four and all she could do was wish that she could just hop on a plane and go home to her family. She had called them yesterday once she was all settled in, (not showing them the wine and chocolates she had bought in town to enjoy in her room) and told them she got home safe and they chatted for a while. When she got off the phone, she enjoyed a lovely dinner… alone before she enjoyed some wine and chocolates over a movie… alone and then going to bed… alone…

She had been so excited about her little vacation, she forgot that she’d be completely alone for the next two days. And she hadn’t really been alone since… well, since she accepted the recall. 

Now she was sitting in her hotel room in the late afternoon, taking turns looking out the window and looking at her phone, wondering when would be a good time to call them, knowing that if she missed them, she’d probably keep trying until she reached them, and several back to back calls to someone was often a sign that something was wrong to Mako and Molly, so she wanted to make her call when they could pick up right away. 

“Mein Gott, Angela.” she said sternly to herself, “They are your family, you can call them whenever you like! Stop worrying and just call them!” 

And she nearly did, only for her phone to ring and her to jump in surprise. She juggled it for a second or two before accepting a video call from Molly. She picked up and saw her teenage daughter’s face bright with eager delight, “Mum, you’ve got ta see this!” she laughed, completely skipping over the beginning of any kind of conversation they might of had while she switched the camera from focusing on her face to focusing on Angela’s two year old and  five month old sitting on their father’s legs and staring intensely at his bare feet before turning up to see Mako, maskless on the couch with Bob’s head on his lap as he stroked the mutt’s head, the massive man obviously amused by something, “Ready Da’?” Molly giggled, getting a thumbs up in return as he seemed to hold back chuckles, although Angela couldn’t tell you why.

“Okay!” she said, the camera focusing on Mako’s feet and the babies, “This lil piggy went to market…” Molly cooed, Mako’s big toes wiggling on cue, (revealing that Molly had painted his toes to have little piggy faces on them like she had when she was little, but more importantly,) the simple action made Wilhelmina and Ben burst out laughing and they started kicking their little chubby legs in the air so wildly, she’d be surprised that they managed to stay on their daddy’s legs if their big sister didn’t have telekinesis.

Mako’s toe stopped wiggling and the two babies stopped laughing within instants, their gazes quickly snapping back on his feet, their expressions watchful and serious.

“This little piggy stayed home…” Molly recited through giggles, Mako wiggling the second toe, making the little ones laugh again, their feet kicking in the air again as they laughed hysterically. Angela felt giggles start to cascade out of her own lips as well as she watched Mako’s toe still and her young ones snap back to attention, staring at his feet.

“This little piggy had roast beef…” Molly managed, Mako’s third toe wiggling, making the laughter and kicking restart once more. Angela covered her mouth to keep from interrupting Molly and Mako’s little act with her laughter, the little ones laughing and stopping with the movement of the mountainous man she married’s toes.

“This little piggy had none…” Mako wiggled the fourth toe, the little ones going mad with laughter, their legs flailing in the air without a care before the movement stopped and the two went back to staring. 

“’N this little piggy went ‘Wee wee wee’ all th’ way home!” Molly finished, Wilhelmina and Ben looking their father’s wiggling pinky toe, confused as to why it would go ‘Wee wee wee’ before he stopped moving it.

“Oi, ya know why th’ fifth piggy went ‘wee wee wee’?” she asked them, the two little ones tilted their heads at her, curious. “Cause their Da’ did THIS!” she cried as Mako scooped them up and raised them up into the air and back down at a pace that was fast enough to be fun, but not fast enough to make them throw up. The two laughed so hard that tears started to form in their eyes and they waved their arms into the air much like one would if on a rollercoaster, “You two havin’ fun?” Molly asked.

“Wee!” Wilhelmina cried happily, her few little teeth out on full display.

“Eee!” Ben echoed, smiling broadly to show his lack of teeth. 

“I think they loike it, what do you think, Mum?” Molly asked, Angela finally freed her mouth and laughed loudly along with the little ones, “I think I’ll want to see it again when I get home!” she declared.

“We can do tha’.” Mako assured her, slowly stopping the ride so Molly could shove the phone closer to Wilhelmina and Ben, “Looks loike you two are gonna have ‘nother reason ta be happy when Mum comes home, aren’ ya?” she teased, the two realizing that their Mommy’s face was on the phone and reached for it, both of them trying to eat it while Molly called for them to stop eating it and Mako laughed loudly before they got the phone out of the babies’ hands, Bob gave the babies doggie kisses and made them burst out laughing again and they all talked about their days.

Angela was still chuckling when they ended the call an hour later and spent the rest of the evening checking nearby shops for novelty socks with pig faces on the toes in Mako’s size. Her loneliness forgotten as she spent her time chuckling at the clerks’ reactions to the size of her husband’s feet.

Mercy does find those socks, by the way, it takes three months of searching, but she eventually does find them, but they become his favorites so it’s totally worth it.
