Most players of Luigi's Mansion have likely experienced that standing under the chandelier in the Foyer will cause the chandelier to start rotating and then fall on Luigi, dealing damage.

However, a detail that is easy to miss is that this happens only at the beginning of the game. The laugh sound effect that plays when the chandelier comes down is not merely a ghost laugh, but specifically the laugh of Chauncey, the boss of Area 1. Once Chauncey is captured, he can obviously no longer control the chandelier and it will remain safe to stand under it for the rest of the game.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey contains an unused "spinning Goomba test" room in its files. The room contains 5 motionless Goombas (4 of which can be seen in the screenshot) and 1 rapidly spinning one.

The motionless Goombas can only be stood on. The spinning Goomba is immaterial and cannot be interacted with in any manner.

In January 2026, an update to Donkey Kong Country Returns HD was released, implementing Dixie Kong as a playable character. This results in the game having three out of four playable characters featured in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, missing only Cranky Kong.

The update contains unused graphics in its files that appear as Cranky Kong's icon and barrel, but crossed out hastily with a pink X. This suggests that at some point during the development of the update, Cranky Kong was also considered to be added, but was scrapped, and one of the developers marked the icon and barrel as unused instead of deleting them outright.

The prototype version of Super Mario Kart features a glitch that has been fixed in the release version, whereby pausing the game just after the driver is hit by an obstacle and then restarting the race will cause the camera to view the driver from the side instead of from behind.

This makes the game extremely difficult to control since it is basically impossible to see more than a short distance ahead of the character, and the controls being rotated 90 degrees relative to the D-Pad directions.

Particularly entertaining is Yoshi's reaction to this glitch. All drivers in the game only have a single sprite per facing direction, and Yoshi's sprites have him stick out his tongue when going directly right or left. Since he is going left by default in this state, this causes him to always have his mouth open.

Out of these, only King Bob-omb actually appears in the movie; while Wart and Mouser would appear in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie instead. Rawk Hawk and the Whomp King did not appear in either of the movies; though given how Wart and Mouser were cut at first only to appear later, there may be a chance that they could return in a future movie in the series.

In Paper Mario: Color Splash, with precise positioning it is possible for Mario to jump into this tree in the yellow district of Port Prisma, from where he can jump onto the nearby ledge, skipping part of the initial exploration segment and allowing Ruddy Road to be accessed earlier.

In Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, Luigi's eyes do not respond well to his death.

If Luigi dies from being hit by an enemy attack, the stacking of his eye and eyelid textures will become glitched, causing one of his eyes to have a white pupil, while the other one will go blank and lose half an eyelid.

Due to Luigi looking down during this and the in-game camera showing him from above, this is relatively difficult to see during regular gameplay, which may explain why it was not caught during development. This was also not fixed in any subsequent release of these games.
