Kaz's Southern Kerch accent coming out thick whenever he's drunk, or on very specific words that he avoids saying for that very reason

Ravkans being able to tell when foreigners learned from a textbook or a standard classroom because they talk vaguely like middle-aged nobles

East Ravkans and West Ravkans having different accents, expressions, and slang because of being separated by the Fold for so long

Specific dialects on the disputed borders (the Ravkan-Fjerdan border, the Ravkan-Shu border, etc.)

Nikolai having to change how he speaks as Sturmhond so that his very posh noble accent doesn't give him away

⬆️ Wylan trying to do the same thing in the Barrel so he's not noticed

Jesper chatting with anyone and everyone who speaks a lick of Zemeni

//ooc: in a more technical perspective, if we are talking about pre-end of row-nikolai, nikolai might be a bit more likely to win, partly because of the demon (even though he only really summons it in life-or-death situations). for post-row nikolai, i think it would end in a draw; they are pretty evenly matched. kaz spent most of his teenage years in the barrel, developed some free fighting skills (we see this in ck in his fight with jesper), but mostly relies on his cane (it is a powerful weapon, lead-lined and custom fabrikator made). nikolai doesn’t really have a weapon; we see him with a rifle, (he is a very good shot, as he’s said himself) but it isn’t really made for close range, however he might be better than kaz in a no-weapons fight, because of his army training. this was a lot of not-scientific ramblings, sorry.

//so, in summary, just based on assumptions and book knowledge, really:
