this will be my last sw post for a while (rest, i need), but I think it's worth remembering that while Luke is cheerful and bold, he also canonically nearly killed Vader in a blind rage. He canonically viciously snaps at people. He canonically throws things in anger. He canonically is so impatient Yoda nearly dipped. Even in episode 6, which is the basis for a lot of the characterization I see, his calmness comes across an iron control, not necessarily gentleness. I do think a lot of the former is due to immaturity, so gently serene Jedi Luke is a reasonable characterization, but I also think it's worth remembering why Luke grew up so fast, why that iron control has appeared in episode 6, and why he is the furthest thing from careless.

no, but canon!leia would be so unsettled by legends!leia. she is simultaneously everything she wants and doesn't want to be. legends!leia is a successful chief of state of the new republic, but her politics cannot be untangled from the ongoing civil war, and she's solely responsible for the creation of the republic's fifth fleet, the deadliest battle group in the entire galaxy, which is antithetical to what canon!leia's new republic stands for. she got to make peace with anakin skywalker being her father, got to know the little slave boy from tatooine through the eyes of his loving mother and childhood friends, but she's not above using darth vader's reputation – the reputation of the monster haunting leia in canon, – to get necessary political outcomes. she is sterner, more forceful and decisive. her noghri bodyguards call her "lady vader", and for canon!leia it would feel like taking first steps toward becoming just like him. then she would think that maybe, just maybe, this leia wouldn't have allowed the first order to gain any power and would have turned their ambitions into dust like she did with kueller, nil spaar, and many other cruel men, but at the cost of mon's pacifist dreams.

Me and my friend had some fun trying to rewrite the sequel trilogy a while ago and I think the best idea we had was Luke dies and Han and Rey get stranded on some nowhere planet where he has to haphazardly attempt to teach her years of jedi training in like a week entirely by reading out of Luke’s notes (somehow even worse than Luke’s extremely DIY training in the OT).

This isn’t at all based on the ‘Han has the force’ theory it’s literally just crabby atheist old man Han Solo and his dead best friend’s religious texts that are totally useless to him vs the world.

i LOVE that, disney needs to get you two rewriting the sequels STAT

I liked the thrawn trilogy, its fun, it had introduced of my favorite star wars characters in it (Mara Jade my beloved) but holy hell, I did not expect for the EU to be so whacky. A Jedi married the EMPEROR of THE FUCKING EMPIRE. Oh and this is not just any jedi, this is the daughter of leia and han. Oh and she was sent her twin brother after he became a sith, tortureded his padawan/cousin and murdered Mara Jade (rip). Luke Skywalker told her to do this. Oh and her younger brother is kinda a gary stu and is named after the Anakin but dont think about that, he's dead. Oh and Mara Jade and Lando where a thing, I guess. Oh and Luuke. That was not a typo, Luke Skywalker has a clone named Luuke. Perfect, I want to read more.
