But I got an unsigned letter yesterday with a flower and a note saying that the Knights Have Decided.

Oh, I don't like this one bit. @cobblers-wife @graceless-squire and @oraclejalon, now you princess? My own letter was different and without any flower, which leads me to believe this stranger is targeting feminine individuals of all stripes of life. It may very well be a prank or some harmless nonsense, but if I hear of so-called "knights" involved in this, I will wring their necks. So inappropriate.

She blinks at the note, running a fingertip reverently over the petals of the sunflower. Decided what? She doesn't know, but she has always loved sunflowers. Humming softly and happily to herself, she fetches her sketchbook to draw the flower, and tuck the mysterious note into the pages alongside it.

a little princess to be faux sweet to. to talk about how pretty she looks all ruined in her bed. how she needs to be quiet unless she wants the courts to know how much of a whore she is. how she lets the jester fuck her until she's a dumb little mess who'd give over the kingdom for a chance to cum. wouldn't she? wanna make a jester a royal? then they could take care of her every single day. shape the world around them so she wouldn't have to lift a finger, just be played with all day.

*sweeping the floors, doors and windows all open to let in the light and wind. Mind distracted on sights from the forest and her inability to speak coherently with Sir Tin*

*sunlight lightly begins to fill the room and she rests for a moment, leaning against the doorframe to gaze out at the awakening town*

Sierra, you truly are a dullard, aren't you?

*smirks ruefully to self and gets back to work*

[She knocks gently on the door frame, peeking a little shyly into the room.] Hello, Lady Sierra! I thought I would stop in to say hello... I hope I'm not interrupting? I can come back later if you're busy?

[She pauses, then suggests with the air of someone airing something thrillingly unusual:] Or... I could help with your chores?

[cobblers-wife]

Lady Rue! *freezes in a half curtsy as the desire to show respect is deep for her friend and not wanting to trip herself with the broom. Settles with dipping to lower broom to the floor and completes a curtsy*

The only thing you interrupt is my own wool gathering. You are a most welcome interruption! *smiles wide at the offer* well, I do have a spot left to sweep and a few chairs inside left to dust. If you.. if you are sure, you could have your pick. Or we could sit in the sun and rest our feet if you would prefer. *stands at ease, glowing with seeing Lady Rue*

Oh! [She bounces a little, pondering the choice.] I can help dust? That seems simple enough... [She trails off though, torn between bemusement and a little embarrassment.] You - you have to dust chairs? I hadn't even thought of that.

But, um, yes! I'd love to do that.

... also, you don't need to curtsey when I visit - we're friends, after all. [She smiles warmly at Sierra.]

*Sierra hugs the broom a little and breathes out a laugh* not often, but the shop chairs haven't seen much use late and unfortunately dust dost collect. On everything. *She glances at the dust on one of the chairs and glares*

But that would be a delightful help. Dusting is among my least favorite chores.

*strolls to a little closer half hidden by a curtain and takes out a feather duster then brings it to Lady Rue, offering it to her handle side first*

Thank you, my friend, *smiles warmly back* you are so full of grace that it is hard to not curtsey in your presence.

[Rue accepts the duster, going over to begin dusting - tentatively at first, then with a little too much enthusiasm. She reins it back slightly so the dust flies about slightly less.]

You're also full of grace! So perhaps I should just curtsey when I see you too, then. [She does so, solemnly, and returns to her dusting.]

... the chairs aren't being used so much?

*eyes soften more as her heart melts at the kindness and honor Lady Rue shows her, quickly turns and goes back to sweeping to conceal her eyes that shine a little as happy tears begin to gather*

Oh yes, *clears throat* every season comes with a slow period where we have not as many customers. The cobbler likes to make shoes that will last so while so that none are forced to seek replacements. But new orders will come in, or repairs for the field hands' shoes or such always arrive. It just so happens to be that there be not many sitting in these chairs at the moment so dust settles on them.

But! The blacksmith in town has spoken of interest for good shoes and we hope to make them in such a way that he is pleased with them.

But here I am, speaking of shoes again. *shakes head with exaggerated tiredness* How have you been? Have the days treated you well?

[the-lady-rue]

Oh... well, I'm glad you have more customers! ... perhaps I should buy a pair of shoes? For walking in the woods, maybe.

But - yes, thank you, I've had some lovely days recently. [She carefully dusts where some patterns in the wood of the chair have gathered extra dust.] But I thought it would be nice to come and say hello to you, since I haven't seen you in a few days.

Have you been well? Have you had much time to do things other than chores? You need to look after yourself, you know...

Well.. I did have a strange last few days. *finishes sweeping and puts the broom away. Peeks over to where Lady Rue has been dusting not wanting her to have to keep dusting if she no longer finds it fun and admires the work she has done.*

I, it sounds strange, but I feel as though I had spent the last few days wandering in the woods. I *pauses, unsure of how to continue* I had found Jack-in-the-pulpit plants which tells me that surely the walk was not just in my own mind. Yet.. the cobbler expresses confusion. He states that I had been here and twas only last night I had gone for a walk and arrived in a... disarrayed way...

But my health is intact and truly nothing seems to have changed. Mayhaps it was just in my mind.

[the-lady-rue]

[She frowns a little, concerned.] How did you feel when you returned? Were you tired, hungry, thirsty as if you'd been wandering that long? Or was it just as if you'd been in a dream which felt longer than the time you'd been truly gone? .... do you remember when you left?

[cobblers-wife]

*Sierra frowns slightly in thought, trying to recall without embellishment*

I felt, like I had awaken from sleepwalking. I was tired, but only slightly so. As to when I left.. oh!

*hurries over to the side of the room where a larger curtain covers and ducks behind it only to emerge after much rustling and moving of things, comes back into view with a journal in her hands* I recall writing my nightly journal last. *flips through the pages* I last wrote two eves ago.

[the-lady-rue]

[Rue's eyes widen a little, and she nods slowly.] And - usually you write every evening? That does seem like compelling evidence. But - your husband said you were here?

[She finishes the dusting, brow still furrowed, and stands for a moment, idly twirling the duster in her hands.] So - either he is wrong, or... there was something here which wasn't you.

[cobblers-wife]

*Sierra's grip on the journal tightens* but.. surely I am far too old to have drawn the eyes of a changeling. Oh!

*dropping the journal she digs into the pouches tucked into her skirts and pulls out three pouches* the Wizard gifted these to me! Rowan berries I believe! I had meant to give one to my husband but.. *she trails off, eyes distant* I think.. that these helped shield me in some way..

I am so sorry Lady Rue, you come over for a talk and here I am, clutching all of the conversation as a child clings to its mother's apron strings. *picks the journal from the floor and places it gently on the table* May I offer you a drink? Or some pecan bread?

[the-lady-rue]

Lady Sierra, if something is preying on your mind then I wish to hear it. [She moves to squeeze her hands gently, reassuring.] You need not worry about dominating the conversation. I want to hear what's happening to you.

Rowan berries... that would make sense. There are - strange things in those woods, I think. Not only changelings, but - other things, and I don't know if they'd be bothered by such things as someone being too old. Not to mention that I do not at all believe that to be the case, Lady Sierra. You are firmly in your prime.

[She pauses.] A drink might be nice for both of us, though. I could make it, if you tell me where to find things? You're recounting a challenging tale, after all.

[cobblers-wife]

*hands flutter in indecision then takes a deep breath and gently squeezes Lady Rue's hands back*

A drink sounds perfect. Do you prefer lemons with fire water, spirits, or wine?

*smile quirks at the compliment of being in her prime*

My tale is a strange one, though quite short, but I welcome your input.

[Goes on to speak of a sensation of days passing, of glades within the forests holding waterfalls and flowers & herbs of rare quality, of walking without being able to stop for hours, and once drinks are poured and with many pauses, of seeing a house with chicken legs that Sir Tin had told her was a witch's hut one of which called Baba Yaga]

Oh - um, fire water, perhaps? Thank you, Lady Sierra...

[She sits, listening raptly to the tale with a worried little line between her eyebrows. She straightens up a little at the end of the tale.]

Witches... I - can't say I've ever seen any in the woods, I think? But you do hear tales of them. I've never seen or heard of huts with legs, though. But - well, there are a great many things in the world, aren't there?

[She ponders.] Do you feel - drawn to return there? To the woods? It does sound beautiful, but - strange.

[Having been distracted by the tale, she finally goes to pick up her drink and takes a sip. Almost immediately she splutters, covering her mouth with one hand as she goes red.]

[cobblers-wife]

*lowers face so hair falls like a curtain to cover Sierra's face, trying not to giggle at the reaction to the firewater having made the same reaction when she first had it, then recovers and pulls her hair back*

The woods, I feel a dim sense of loss, but truthfully the house *shudders*

*Sierra takes a drink of the clear spirits and grimaces*

Fortifying, but not always the best of flavor

[Rue reddens more at the reaction but doesn't seem hurt. She takes a smaller, tentative sip, eyes still watering.]

Um... if I'm entirely honest I - didn't know what fire water was. I picked the option that sounded - least alcoholic. I think I may have picked wrong.

[She sobers (metaphorically), glancing at Sierra.] The house doesn't feel right to you?

[cobblers-wife]

*hearing this Sierra quickly stands and hurries to get bread treats and water* I apologize Lady Rue! Firewater is more of a commons drink - how thoughtless of me for not putting out more options and explaining more clearly!

*sits down after carefully arranging the spread before us*

I meant the house with ah.. legs... I can't stop dreading seeing it again. Thankfully this house *waves head vaguely* is not what is causing the discomfort.

*offers a clean handkerchief to Lady Rue, eyes filled with concern*

Oh, no no Lady Sierra, please don't apologise - it's my own fault for not checking. [She accepts the water gratefully though.]

Ah, of course. I suppose anyone who can create something like that must be rather terrifyingly powerful, mustn't they? ... have you ever seen anything similar to that before? Or even anything out of the ordinary? ... do you think you will see it again?

[She accepts the handkerchief a little sheepishly, mopping at her eyes.]

*Sierra places her own cup aside and exchanges it to pure good water as well*

I would have to picture so as the legs.. they were like towers that held the house above them as easily as if the house was a fruit and the legs were the natural tree. I have never seen anything like that before! I.. I don't recall having seen anything even remotely as unnatural... or... perhaps that natural, before. I hope not i never do again! I.. I deeply am afraid of seeing that again I confess.

I wonder what it was that drew you out there in the first place?

[Rue is silent for a while, frowning.]

I've seen - knights out there. Strange ones, more than once. But never anything like that.

Lady Sierra, have you ever known yourself to have any affinity for - magic, or for that manner of thing?

*Sierra goes to respond immediately then pauses to think.*

I.. I never have. When I was.. but a child, I *her fingers twitch and she pulls her hands close together to quell the twitches* was raised by one who had the gifts. Once. But that one's gifts were lost or taken. I am not quite sure what happened, but that one no longer could work magic and was quite. Vexed.

More water, Lady Rue?

I - no thank you, Lady Sierra, I have plenty.

[Rue watches her, a little concerned.] So their gift was just gone? ... what do you mean, when you say they were vexed?

[She reaches out to place a hand gently over Sierra's, seeing the involuntary movements in them despite the woman's best efforts.]

... you do not need to answer me, if it's painful. But if you feel it would help to speak of it, then I'd like to listen. It's not everyone who can claim such a tale, after all.

How silly of me *smiles weakly, still trembling slightly under Lady Rue's hands*

I - *inhales and exhales slowly* the one that raised me for most of my childhood, we lived deep in the woods. I learned much from the woods and the woods were both my shelter and friend. The one who wove magic oft sent me to stay in the woods at night when it was time to work magic so that I did not see or hear what I should not.

One day when I returned the hut we lived in was in complete disarray. That one was in a rage, and stayed in that rage until my care was given to another a year or so aft whatever caused the stopping of the magic. I know not what happened exactly, I apologize.

Have the.. do the knights that you have seen, do they worry you? I have not encountered any.. *blushes, truly interested to learn of Lady Rue's experiences, but acknowledging that her conversation transitions are jagged*

... how old were you when this happened, Lady Sierra? You were asked to stay in the woods alone? I - my apologies, but that sounds like much to ask of a child, even one at home there. [She looks perturbed, still holding gently onto Lady Sierra's hands.]

The knights... I - I don't know. I'm not sure what to make of them, in all honesty. [She frowns.] There seem to be two different kinds. One I've only seen once - I ran. It was eating a deer, I think. Just - bent over the carcass.

The other... I've seen a few times now. It's more - still. It feels more as if it's part of the woods, but that's unsettling in its own way. I turn sometimes and it's just - there. And I don't know how long it has been, because it's so still. I think I see something growing from it. Vines, or... here.

[She searches in her pockets, pulling out her small notebook and opening the pages to a sketch, a note written beneath it in a small, neat hand.]

I drew it the first time I saw it. I don't know if it feels dangerous or not.

It's - not quite a house with chicken legs. But it sounds as though the woods around here hold rather a lot of strange and unusual things.

[cobblers-wife]

*hums softly over the sketch shown* that is a lovely sketch. The knight seems, contemplative. I recall you warning me to not go into the woods alone. I had not meant to go off by myself.

*straightens spine and quickly wipes at her cheeks* that was many years ago *gently squeezes Lady Rue's hands* i had not thought of those woods in years. I agree I was too young, but I believe that the woods may have protected me because I was so young.

Forests hold so much wonder, and mystery...

Thank you. For sitting with me, and talking with me through this. For hearing me out. And for not dismissing me as mad. *takes a sip of water and her smile has a little more strength to it* you are such a kind friend

[Rue smiles at her a little sadly.] I am sorry you seem to find it surprising that I'll listen and believe you.

That makes sense, I think. There is a mystery out there, that much I can believe. Perhaps you spent so much time out there that the forest had accepted you as part of itself.

... I hope it's not am overstep, Lady Sierra... but may I give you a hug?

Oh! *glances frantically around for another handkerchief then snatches a napkin to wipe her face clean so as to not accidently ruin Lady Rue's gown or hair*

Tis not an overstep at all, Lady Rue. That would be most welcome.

[Rue laughs quietly, though still a little sadly, and then shuffles closer to wrap Sierra in a warm hug. She squeezes her gently.]

You're a good friend, Lady Sierra. I hope you know that I'll listen any time, though. It isn't a burden for me to spend time with you, or to listen.

[cobblers-wife]

*squeezes back gentle, soaking in the friendship and heart moved with gratitude*

I hope that you know it to be the same for you, Lady Rue. I haven't spoken about that time since, well.. i believe since before I was wed. Ah *squeezes again gently then gently releases Lady Rue* tis a very strange few days. It is a great relief to have been able to speak of it.

I'm glad. But - yes, I can imagine such a thing preying on the mind at a time like this.

I do hope you will be careful, Lady Sierra. Will you tell me if it happens again? [She leans back to study her, a little worried.] Disappearing into the woods like that, I mean.

I shall. *eyebrows come together as Sierra leans forward* I never would have thought that keeping a journal would come in handy in such a way as this. I shall keep it up. As well I suppose to also inquire of the cobbler what differences he noticed and what more he can tell me of... what his experience was. *chuckles slightly* what a busy time as of lately with the ball and now with the woods being more.. restless.

[the-lady-rue]

[She nods a little, brow still furrowed.] I suppose all we can do is try to keep our eyes on all of the various things going on.

[She sighs, glancing out of the door.] I should probably be getting back to my rooms, though. I'm glad I came by to see you though, Lady Sierra. I'll see you again soon, I hope?

As we continue to speak at what we see and not keep it hidden, the more likely I believe for us to know how to be safe.

I am so thankful you came for a visit, Lady Rue. Tis certainly been a bright ray of light in mine day. Very soon I hope. And! Before I forget... *trails off looking for something in the herbs hanging before plucking something and putting it in a pouch*

Tis rose petals tea. I hope that it will bring joy to you when you brew it.

*dropping the journal she digs into the pouches tucked into her skirts and pulls out three pouches* the Wizard gifted these to me! Rowan berries I believe! I had meant to give one to my husband but.. *she trails off, eyes distant* I think.. that these helped shield me in some way..

I am so sorry Lady Rue, you come over for a talk and here I am, clutching all of the conversation as a child clings to its mother's apron strings. *picks the journal from the floor and places it gently on the table* May I offer you a drink? Or some pecan bread?

My tale is a strange one, though quite short, but I welcome your input.

[Goes on to speak of a sensation of days passing, of glades within the forests holding waterfalls and flowers & herbs of rare quality, of walking without being able to stop for hours, and once drinks are poured and with many pauses, of seeing a house with chicken legs that Sir Tin had told her was a witch's hut one of which called Baba Yaga]

Oh - um, fire water, perhaps? Thank you, Lady Sierra...

[She sits, listening raptly to the tale with a worried little line between her eyebrows. She straightens up a little at the end of the tale.]

Witches... I - can't say I've ever seen any in the woods, I think? But you do hear tales of them. I've never seen or heard of huts with legs, though. But - well, there are a great many things in the world, aren't there?

[She ponders.] Do you feel - drawn to return there? To the woods? It does sound beautiful, but - strange.

[Having been distracted by the tale, she finally goes to pick up her drink and takes a sip. Almost immediately she splutters, covering her mouth with one hand as she goes red.]

*lowers face so hair falls like a curtain to cover Sierra's face, trying not to giggle at the reaction to the firewater having made the same reaction when she first had it, then recovers and pulls her hair back*

I meant the house with ah.. legs... I can't stop dreading seeing it again. Thankfully this house *waves head vaguely* is not what is causing the discomfort.

I would have to picture so as the legs.. they were like towers that held the house above them as easily as if the house was a fruit and the legs were the natural tree. I have never seen anything like that before! I.. I don't recall having seen anything even remotely as unnatural... or... perhaps that natural, before. I hope not i never do again! I.. I deeply am afraid of seeing that again I confess.

I - *inhales and exhales slowly* the one that raised me for most of my childhood, we lived deep in the woods. I learned much from the woods and the woods were both my shelter and friend. The one who wove magic oft sent me to stay in the woods at night when it was time to work magic so that I did not see or hear what I should not.

One day when I returned the hut we lived in was in complete disarray. That one was in a rage, and stayed in that rage until my care was given to another a year or so aft whatever caused the stopping of the magic. I know not what happened exactly, I apologize.

Have the.. do the knights that you have seen, do they worry you? I have not encountered any.. *blushes, truly interested to learn of Lady Rue's experiences, but acknowledging that her conversation transitions are jagged*

The other... I've seen a few times now. It's more - still. It feels more as if it's part of the woods, but that's unsettling in its own way. I turn sometimes and it's just - there. And I don't know how long it has been, because it's so still. I think I see something growing from it. Vines, or... here.

I drew it the first time I saw it. I don't know if it feels dangerous or not.

Lady Rue! *freezes in a half curtsy as the desire to show respect is deep for her friend and not wanting to trip herself with the broom. Settles with dipping to lower broom to the floor and completes a curtsy*

The only thing you interrupt is my own wool gathering. You are a most welcome interruption! *smiles wide at the offer* well, I do have a spot left to sweep and a few chairs inside left to dust. If you.. if you are sure, you could have your pick. Or we could sit in the sun and rest our feet if you would prefer. *stands at ease, glowing with seeing Lady Rue*

*strolls to a little closer half hidden by a curtain and takes out a feather duster then brings it to Lady Rue, offering it to her handle side first*

Oh yes, *clears throat* every season comes with a slow period where we have not as many customers. The cobbler likes to make shoes that will last so while so that none are forced to seek replacements. But new orders will come in, or repairs for the field hands' shoes or such always arrive. It just so happens to be that there be not many sitting in these chairs at the moment so dust settles on them.

But! The blacksmith in town has spoken of interest for good shoes and we hope to make them in such a way that he is pleased with them.

But here I am, speaking of shoes again. *shakes head with exaggerated tiredness* How have you been? Have the days treated you well?

He states that I had been here and twas only last night I had gone for a walk and arrived in a... disarrayed way...

But my health is intact and truly nothing seems to have changed. Mayhaps it was just in my mind.

Lady Rue! *freezes in a half curtsy as the desire to show respect is deep for her friend and not wanting to trip herself with the broom. Settles with dipping to lower broom to the floor and completes a curtsy*

The only thing you interrupt is my own wool gathering. You are a most welcome interruption! *smiles wide at the offer* well, I do have a spot left to sweep and a few chairs inside left to dust. If you.. if you are sure, you could have your pick. Or we could sit in the sun and rest our feet if you would prefer. *stands at ease, glowing with seeing Lady Rue*

Oh! [She bounces a little, pondering the choice.] I can help dust? That seems simple enough... [She trails off though, torn between bemusement and a little embarrassment.] You - you have to dust chairs? I hadn't even thought of that.

But, um, yes! I'd love to do that.

... also, you don't need to curtsey when I visit - we're friends, after all. [She smiles warmly at Sierra.]

*Sierra hugs the broom a little and breathes out a laugh* not often, but the shop chairs haven't seen much use late and unfortunately dust dost collect. On everything. *She glances at the dust on one of the chairs and glares*

But that would be a delightful help. Dusting is among my least favorite chores.

*strolls to a little closer half hidden by a curtain and takes out a feather duster then brings it to Lady Rue, offering it to her handle side first*

*eyes soften more as her heart melts at the kindness and honor Lady Rue shows her, quickly turns and goes back to sweeping to conceal her eyes that shine a little as happy tears begin to gather*

Oh yes, *clears throat* every season comes with a slow period where we have not as many customers. The cobbler likes to make shoes that will last so while so that none are forced to seek replacements. But new orders will come in, or repairs for the field hands' shoes or such always arrive. It just so happens to be that there be not many sitting in these chairs at the moment so dust settles on them.

But! The blacksmith in town has spoken of interest for good shoes and we hope to make them in such a way that he is pleased with them.

But here I am, speaking of shoes again. *shakes head with exaggerated tiredness* How have you been? Have the days treated you well?

Oh... well, I'm glad you have more customers! ... perhaps I should buy a pair of shoes? For walking in the woods, maybe.

Well.. I did have a strange last few days. *finishes sweeping and puts the broom away. Peeks over to where Lady Rue has been dusting not wanting her to have to keep dusting if she no longer finds it fun and admires the work she has done.*

I, it sounds strange, but I feel as though I had spent the last few days wandering in the woods. I *pauses, unsure of how to continue* I had found Jack-in-the-pulpit plants which tells me that surely the walk was not just in my own mind. Yet.. the cobbler expresses confusion. He states that I had been here and twas only last night I had gone for a walk and arrived in a... disarrayed way...

But my health is intact and truly nothing seems to have changed. Mayhaps it was just in my mind.

[She frowns a little, concerned.] How did you feel when you returned? Were you tired, hungry, thirsty as if you'd been wandering that long? Or was it just as if you'd been in a dream which felt longer than the time you'd been truly gone? .... do you remember when you left?

*Sierra frowns slightly in thought, trying to recall without embellishment*

I felt, like I had awaken from sleepwalking. I was tired, but only slightly so. As to when I left.. oh!

*hurries over to the side of the room where a larger curtain covers and ducks behind it only to emerge after much rustling and moving of things, comes back into view with a journal in her hands* I recall writing my nightly journal last. *flips through the pages* I last wrote two eves ago.

[Rue's eyes widen a little, and she nods slowly.] And - usually you write every evening? That does seem like compelling evidence. But - your husband said you were here?

[She finishes the dusting, brow still furrowed, and stands for a moment, idly twirling the duster in her hands.] So - either he is wrong, or... there was something here which wasn't you.

*Sierra's grip on the journal tightens* but.. surely I am far too old to have drawn the eyes of a changeling. Oh!

*dropping the journal she digs into the pouches tucked into her skirts and pulls out three pouches* the Wizard gifted these to me! Rowan berries I believe! I had meant to give one to my husband but.. *she trails off, eyes distant* I think.. that these helped shield me in some way..

I am so sorry Lady Rue, you come over for a talk and here I am, clutching all of the conversation as a child clings to its mother's apron strings. *picks the journal from the floor and places it gently on the table* May I offer you a drink? Or some pecan bread?

My tale is a strange one, though quite short, but I welcome your input.

[Goes on to speak of a sensation of days passing, of glades within the forests holding waterfalls and flowers & herbs of rare quality, of walking without being able to stop for hours, and once drinks are poured and with many pauses, of seeing a house with chicken legs that Sir Tin had told her was a witch's hut one of which called Baba Yaga]

[She sits, listening raptly to the tale with a worried little line between her eyebrows. She straightens up a little at the end of the tale.]

Witches... I - can't say I've ever seen any in the woods, I think? But you do hear tales of them. I've never seen or heard of huts with legs, though. But - well, there are a great many things in the world, aren't there?

[She ponders.] Do you feel - drawn to return there? To the woods? It does sound beautiful, but - strange.

[Having been distracted by the tale, she finally goes to pick up her drink and takes a sip. Almost immediately she splutters, covering her mouth with one hand as she goes red.]

*lowers face so hair falls like a curtain to cover Sierra's face, trying not to giggle at the reaction to the firewater having made the same reaction when she first had it, then recovers and pulls her hair back*

The woods, I feel a dim sense of loss, but truthfully the house *shudders*

*hearing this Sierra quickly stands and hurries to get bread treats and water* I apologize Lady Rue! Firewater is more of a commons drink - how thoughtless of me for not putting out more options and explaining more clearly!

*sits down after carefully arranging the spread before us*

I meant the house with ah.. legs... I can't stop dreading seeing it again. Thankfully this house *waves head vaguely* is not what is causing the discomfort.

I would have to picture so as the legs.. they were like towers that held the house above them as easily as if the house was a fruit and the legs were the natural tree. I have never seen anything like that before! I.. I don't recall having seen anything even remotely as unnatural... or... perhaps that natural, before. I hope not i never do again! I.. I deeply am afraid of seeing that again I confess.

I.. I never have. When I was.. but a child, I *her fingers twitch and she pulls her hands close together to quell the twitches* was raised by one who had the gifts. Once. But that one's gifts were lost or taken. I am not quite sure what happened, but that one no longer could work magic and was quite. Vexed.

I - *inhales and exhales slowly* the one that raised me for most of my childhood, we lived deep in the woods. I learned much from the woods and the woods were both my shelter and friend. The one who wove magic oft sent me to stay in the woods at night when it was time to work magic so that I did not see or hear what I should not.

One day when I returned the hut we lived in was in complete disarray. That one was in a rage, and stayed in that rage until my care was given to another a year or so aft whatever caused the stopping of the magic. I know not what happened exactly, I apologize.

Have the.. do the knights that you have seen, do they worry you? I have not encountered any.. *blushes, truly interested to learn of Lady Rue's experiences, but acknowledging that her conversation transitions are jagged*

The knights... I - I don't know. I'm not sure what to make of them, in all honesty. [She frowns.] There seem to be two different kinds. One I've only seen once - I ran. It was eating a deer, I think. Just - bent over the carcass.

The other... I've seen a few times now. It's more - still. It feels more as if it's part of the woods, but that's unsettling in its own way. I turn sometimes and it's just - there. And I don't know how long it has been, because it's so still. I think I see something growing from it. Vines, or... here.

[She searches in her pockets, pulling out her small notebook and opening the pages to a sketch, a note written beneath it in a small, neat hand.]

I drew it the first time I saw it. I don't know if it feels dangerous or not.

It's - not quite a house with chicken legs. But it sounds as though the woods around here hold rather a lot of strange and unusual things.

The other... I've seen a few times now. It's more - still. It feels more as if it's part of the woods, but that's unsettling in its own way. I turn sometimes and it's just - there. And I don't know how long it has been, because it's so still. I think I see something growing from it. Vines, or... here.

I drew it the first time I saw it. I don't know if it feels dangerous or not.

Oh yes, *clears throat* every season comes with a slow period where we have not as many customers. The cobbler likes to make shoes that will last so while so that none are forced to seek replacements. But new orders will come in, or repairs for the field hands' shoes or such always arrive. It just so happens to be that there be not many sitting in these chairs at the moment so dust settles on them.

But! The blacksmith in town has spoken of interest for good shoes and we hope to make them in such a way that he is pleased with them.

But here I am, speaking of shoes again. *shakes head with exaggerated tiredness* How have you been? Have the days treated you well?

Well.. I did have a strange last few days. *finishes sweeping and puts the broom away. Peeks over to where Lady Rue has been dusting not wanting her to have to keep dusting if she no longer finds it fun and admires the work she has done.*

I, it sounds strange, but I feel as though I had spent the last few days wandering in the woods. I *pauses, unsure of how to continue* I had found Jack-in-the-pulpit plants which tells me that surely the walk was not just in my own mind. Yet.. the cobbler expresses confusion. He states that I had been here and twas only last night I had gone for a walk and arrived in a... disarrayed way...

But my health is intact and truly nothing seems to have changed. Mayhaps it was just in my mind.

[She ponders.] Do you feel - drawn to return there? To the woods? It does sound beautiful, but - strange.

[Having been distracted by the tale, she finally goes to pick up her drink and takes a sip. Almost immediately she splutters, covering her mouth with one hand as she goes red.]

I - *inhales and exhales slowly* the one that raised me for most of my childhood, we lived deep in the woods. I learned much from the woods and the woods were both my shelter and friend. The one who wove magic oft sent me to stay in the woods at night when it was time to work magic so that I did not see or hear what I should not.

One day when I returned the hut we lived in was in complete disarray. That one was in a rage, and stayed in that rage until my care was given to another a year or so aft whatever caused the stopping of the magic. I know not what happened exactly, I apologize.
