Can we get more lore of Vanessa, Markus and Wessels in your crime au plz? 🙏
You have asked and you shall receive although only the Wessel’s part cuz this took my ass and right hand to make. Can‘t promise smth crazy for Vanessa and Markus‘ lore anytime soon but I will talk about them another time.
Things don‘t always go to plan. And unfortunately it didn‘t for the Wessel brothers, who have been going on nightly thefts to provide for their struggling father, without him knowing. Though soon that won‘t be the case anymore…
As already established the Wessel‘s didn‘t have an easy start at life. They grew up with financial struggle and a busy, stressed father who desperately tries to earn enough to support both his boys. But his past criminal record (stealing stuff mostly) doesn‘t make a search for a stable job easy so he has to switch to part time jobs. Marlon and Leon decide to take matters into their own hands at an early age, starting to steal food and things necessary to keep their heads above waters. But later as they grow older they treat the outings with more daring actions like starting to steal jewelry and money but not enough to alert their father or the police. And they keep it under wraps for a while before Leon slips, or more correctly looses control. Unlike Marlon, who does these thefts for the sake of helping their Dad out to keep them financially alive, Leon experiences a thriving thrill from stealing and chasing. He seeks out the danger and the adrenaline that comes from it and is therefore always excited to commit to these illegal actions, perhaps because it‘s the only time where he can get out his boxed up pulses like anger, hate and most importantly his wild.
We know how Leon is: repulsive, aggressive and hot headed but when he‘s wild he‘s worse. So when he looses control it tends to end up with somebody getting hurt or worse case scenerio…getting killed.
So it‘s no suprise he looses his shit, it was bound to happen and both brothers discover that they must deal with this now. But neither of them are aware how different they are from ordinary people, neither did they know yet what the „wild“ is, they just know they don‘t fit into the civilian image and are not able to live in it. Therefore they commit to a life of crime and decide to form a gang with people just like them who also have the same problem of „violence control“ (They first found Jojo and then Markus as their next gang members). That‘s how they called it anyway before discovering more about the wild.
But how do they get informed of the inner beast within them? Well, good ol Raban explains it to them when he joins them. Though he can only tell them as much as Willie had told him before he died. How to control it, it‘s origins or if theres a sort of therapy or cure for it are still open to discover for the teens through out their journey.
How do the Wessel‘s brothers amount of wild differ tho?
Well, we can all agree that Leon is the one with the most wild and therefore has a hard time keeping it under control. It‘s why a life of crime is his only way to live because he needs to let out his wild somehow. Keeping it in would physically destroy him and considering the amount of wild and lack of control he has it doesn‘t do him mentally well either. He doesn't acknowledge it though, not enough to do something about it.
While Marlon is quite the opposite. Although he‘s got less wild than Leon he‘s still had his own struggle of his own and also had to deal with Leon‘s outburst growning up. Hence he‘s mentally stronger to keep it caged incase one of them can stay sane for the sake of them both.
Although their father has cassed them out he ends up greatly regretting it. Joachim feels guilty for having failed his sons and blaims himself that they have chosen the path of crime. But this the brothers don‘t know and that night has still left a large scar on them, especially for Leon.
Both of them only had each other now to struggle with this and share a deep bond because of it, but since Leon seems to fall deeper into the insanity of violence and pain, for his itch to release his „wild“, the brotherly relationship will turn bitterly toxic and destructive and Marlon will later have to choose whether to leave Leon to his doom or save him, potentially pulling himself down with him… (But how das gonna happen, man, I dunno I haven‘t thought that far ahead yet I just know that‘s where their character arcs would go in this au)
(..augh I gotta go crack my back now brb)
