the sims is a uniquely maddening game series to watch inexperienced players play because the interface is designed (particularly in the Sims 4) to coddle children, so it really doesnt scold you when you fuck up. and then it lets you just break your game. anyone who doesnt already have a strong Playing Dollies instinct will be unprepared to anticipate a sim's needs and will do things like (this is an example from a VOD im watching) get frustrated that their household of six people has low needs and are all stuck in depression loops, throw five parties in a row without letting any of them sleep or have jobs, get frustrated that the beds he put out willy-nilly on the lawn(?) arent adequate for the household, and then build a single room dirt floor basement with six single beds in it directly next to a HUGE, loud arcade gaming machine. and then continue to be confused about why the sims are suffering, tired, depressed, bored, etc. see Rimworld anticipated that most of their playerbase would be hetero men and fixed this issue by very clearly announcing what the little dollies need in order to function, and directly instructing the player that a typical Male Living Spaces setup is going to piss most of the dollies off, especially if you make them live there for long periods of time. the Sims will just let you do it and then not tell you why the sim you're making live in an unfinished garage with the car still in it is having a nervous breakdown. and i think thats beautiful
First week together vs one year married
I find it very funny that the clothes available are so normal compared to their usual outfits. If I dress Asmo like that, he'll kick me out of the house.😂😂😂

Is this how you roll?
Dan and I bought a thing called “long ziti” from the local Weird Bargain Store, largely as a joke, but…. I have never had a more unsettling pasta experience in my life. They wouldn’t bend enough to cook from top to bottom simultaneously, and while they were cooking boiling water kept spouting out from the tops of them out of the pot, like a boiling pipe organ. Then they were so long and floppy and hoselike that we couldn’t pick them up with anything other than tongs, and then they were so long and unwieldy that it was basically impossible to sauce them without them all slithering out of the bowl like wet snakes. They then proceeded to cool down almost completely within the the seconds it took to walk to the living room. Eating them was like eating a bowl full half melted drinking straws.
Bringing back Long Ziti for another round because it’s just too funny
Big fan of Sony Animation's plan for success involving producing love letters to various art forms
Spider-verse: comic books and superheroes, graffiti, rap, hip-hop, punk, watercolors, Saturday morning cartoons and monster of the week shows, film noir, Looney Toons, all the cultures, ballet, anime
Kpop Demon Hunters: K-pop and fan culture, magical girl shows (particularly from the 2000s), K-dramas, ALSO Saturday morning cartoons and monster of the week shows, Korean mythology, anime
Let's GOOOOOO!!!
How Kpop Demon Hunter's revitalized three overused heroine archetypes
If there are three heroine types that are overused in media, that would be outcast learns to embrace her differences, I say what I want because I just don't care, and cute, quirky, and adorkable
Despite each Huntr/x member being one of these archetypes, the movie handles all of them much better than other recent examples
Rumi felts like an outcast because she's inherently different from the other girls, but what makes her situation more interesting is that she isn't obviously different. She passes for normal. She appears to fit in.
Her struggle isn't just wanting to be accepted, but also knowing that she's only accepted based on the "perfect Rumi" she presents and isn't sure if she'd keep that acceptance if people see what makes her different. There's a lot of nuances about how Rumi can't fully connect with people because she feels like she can't be honest with them and how isolated she feels even though she's surrounded by people
I usually have a few problems with characters who just say whatever they want, because most of the time, the narrative plays this as "Look how cool this character is. They say what's on their mind because they're so unbothered." And usually that just makes the character look like a bitch because they don't care how their words affect others
For Mira, this personality trait is played completely differently. Mira isn't blunt because she doesn't care. Mira's very direct, because she cares so much. The second she feels like something's bothering Rumi, she immediately approaches her to ask what's wrong. She wants to confront problems as openly as possible because that's how much she cares about her friends
Most of us have probably heard complaints about the quirky heroine who's always nice and positive and how oversaturated that character type is. And yet, Zoey's genuinely endearing. Despite fitting that trope perfectly, her personality feels more genuine about it
Her more quirky moments were reserved for lightheaded scenes and even during more serious scenes, Zoey's positivity is meant to show how she's the heart of the group. She tries to be the one to keeps the group from giving up despite their issues. It also helps that she has a clear serious side. When the other girls were arguing on the train, Zoey was quick to remind them to focus on the battle
A Zoey quote that stuck with me is "[Takedown] won't unite our fans if it can't even unite us." Wow, Zoey, that was actually kinda deep and very true
While each girl's base concept are tropes we've seen before and very often, it really feels like Kpop Demon Hunters put a lot of thought into deciding how to play off of these character traits so it feels new and refreshing
IM ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED WITH THIS ABSOLUTE FREAK OF NATURE
jinu being a 400 year old demon senior citizen originally from wayyyyy back in history should be played as a gag more often in fanworks or in a future continuation like. yes, he successfully studied up on modern kpop fandom culture, kpop songwriting, and kpop choreography for his plan. but he doesnt understand how QR codes work. he doesnt understand modern slang. he REFUSES to get a cellphone and ONLY sends handwritten missives via tiger.
rumi: GOD you're old
kpop demon hunters from the perspective of the fans is so fucking funny because what do you mean the biggest kpop girl group in korea is beefing with and wrote a devastating diss track about a brand new boy band that debuted like 4 weeks ago and only has one song out
Hey btw guys Mairuma is no longer being uploaded on mangadex. It's now being uploaded on comick.io.

What people think happened (for some reason):
OM Team makes the original OM game
OM Team abandons it for no reason
OM Team makes Nightbringer
OM Team abandons Nightbringer for no reason
OM Team makes third OM game
Will definitely abandon it for no reason
And all of this is done out of greed, apparently (despite the fact that constantly releasing and "abandoning" games is a terrible business move that won't actually make you any money)
What ACTUALLY happened:
OM Team makes the original OM game
Game absolutely blows up, the servers become overloaded and are unable to keep up with the volume of players
Servers become too outdated to continue using long term
OM Team makes Nightbringer, giving the OM franchise room to grow again, and using servers that aren't nearly as obsolete and overtaxed
Meanwhile, the parent company (NTT Corp) spends multiple years making atrocious business decisions and mismanaging their subsidiaries, including Solmare
NTT Corp makes extremely bullshit decision to wrap up the OM games because they no longer want to fund the development of otome games AT ALL
OM Team is forced to make a hasty and unplanned conclusion to NB's main story, leaving the OM franchise in an uncertain position going forward
OM Team doesn't want to let the OM franchise die, promises to still release new content and projects
OM Team finds other game dev studios to collaborate with, and are now making a new OM game so that the franchise can keep living
OM Team takes fan demand into serious account, and heavily priorities romance in the new game, with deeper and more intimate relationships (something the fans have been begging for)
And this is all factual. This info has been confirmed by the old mods/staff of the official OM Discord, as well as multiple data miners who were able to see firsthand how outdated and overburdened the servers actually are. NTT Corp's business moves are very public and can easily be viewed online. None of this is a secret.
I'm not saying that the games are above criticism, or that nobody is allowed to have opinions about the new game coming out. All of that is fine. But there's a huge difference between an opinion, and outright misinformation. And the OM fandom has a huge problem with uncritically believing misinformation at face value and repeating it/spreading it around - which is at both the games AND the fans' detriment overall.
