songbird's voice really is an excellent little subversion and ill never get over it.
when you initially meet songbird it's over the phone, so there's an expected cybernetic distortion. then, again when you meet songbird in 'person' her voice retains that same distortion, and i think the game here does a cheeky once-over on you by allowing you to assume that, like johnny's voice, the relic is distorting her voice. there's a definite fuzzy quality to it, one that sort of fades into the back of your mind as you play.
then you meet songbird in person. and her voice has that same cybernetic distorted, fuzzy, inhuman quality to it - because songbird is practically a cyborg. and its fantastic, because the whole time youve been hearing her voice there's this unspoken assumption that there's a clearer, more human person speaking to you. but song has been stripped of even that, and it's an extra added gutpunch on top of her chrome that you don't register until she speaks. that even her voice has been taken from her.
