Shisui is someone who falls hard and it’s a forever yearning kind of situation.

I kinda imagine him and this girl having a slow burn romance where they meet up a few times on romantic night walks and he slowly falls head over heels, maybe a kiss or two (he’s a gentleman so keeps it very slow paced)

Then she totally withdraws… she avoids him out and he stops by her house a few times but she doesn’t answer.

Then he comes to the next clan meeting and she’s there and is about to go over until he spots her ex with his arm around her waist.

She catches his eye and sees a brief flicker of shame and then panic because she knows Shisui could kill this guy in like second with minimal effort but he’s not that kind of vengeful person. He quickly looks away and fades away out of the crowd.

He withdraws after and itachi becomes concerned because despite how close they are Shisui doesn’t tell him. He starts volunteering for a lot of missions so he can avoid the heartbreak of seeing her.

When he is in town he still cares about her in spite of everything. If he spots her walking around at night he keeps an eye on her and still makes sure she gets home safe.

The Sannin really are the Naruto team of all time. Each one represented by an animal. Perfect three-way deadlock, all left Konoha at some point in time, utterly ungovernable and the poster children for how PTSD can affect you until late adulthood.

Imagine not only being strong as fuck, but also basically a representation of the three vices of a ninja. Legends.

Interesting thing I noticed while skimming the Naruto raws, Orochimaru still refers to Hiruzen in respectful speech (desu/masu). Never really picked up on that while watching the anime, but it's pretty obvious when reading. Which is especially funny during their fight. Orochimaru will tell Hiruzen that he's a bumbling, senile old man with one foot in the grave...but like politely.

Despite Orochimaru's distaste for him, despite all the mockery and eventually killing him, the "sensei" and respectful speech still sticks.

It's in pretty stark contrast to how Orochimaru addresses pretty much anyone else who isn't one of the first three Hokage. (Minato doesn't get that treatment because he's too young and also Orochimaru is still miffed about him being elected I guess. And Tsunade is a friend/former teammate/peer, so they talk casually of course as well.)
