When Marie began talking about her cat being old Sheldon couldn’t help but feel sympathy for her.  His own pet turtle was still fairly young, but he wouldn’t know what he would do if he lost his best friend.  “Well my grandpa is 98 and still pushing along, so I bet that you’re cat is going to stick around no matter how old he is.”  Sheldon said trying to bring some optimism into the situation.  “Besides I think that this fluffy guy looks like he still has a bunch more extra lives.”

“Yeah...” Marie nodded her head a little and smiled, thankful for the boys positivity. Honestly, the blonde didn’t know what she would do if she lost her cat since now her mom isn’t even speaking to her. She thought 7th year was going to be the best but so far it seemed to be the opposite. “Thanks, I hope you’re right. I could use some of your optimism...” She chuckled.

Though if you’d asked her, Wendy would have said she was more of a dog person, what she really was was a fan of anything friendly that walked on four legs. So, the moment she’d seen the cat in the arms of the older Ravenclaw, she’d made a beeline for him and requested to pet him. “Oh no!” she said sympathetically upon hearing the other girl’s words. “How long has he been feeling poorly?”

Marie had to think for a moment before replying, it was sometimes hard to tell when her cat wasn’t feeling well because he’s typically very lethargic. “About 2 days now, I might need to take him to a vet if he still doesn’t feel well tomorrow.”

As soon as Sheldon saw another student holding a cat in the ravenclaw common room, the fifth year dropped everything that he was doing and rushed over to meet the furry creature.  Personally he favored reptiles over any other pets, but cats always seemed like they were fun animals.

Once he saw the concerned facial expression on Marie’s he knew that it must have been about her furry companion.

“Have you tried taking him to a vet?  Maybe he ate something he wasn’t supposed to?”  Sheldon questioned automatically worried for the cat.

Marie smiled at the boys suggestions, “it just started today so I’m gonna try just making sure he rests and adjusting his diet a little first since he keeps throwing up, but he is getting a little old...” The blonde started tearing up a bit just thinking about it. She’s had Sir Tubbington since she was young and he’s basically one of her only true friends at this point. “He’ll be ok,” she smiled and nodded, more trying to reassure herself.

“Yeah he doesn’t seem to be really feeling too well... I hope he’s ok.”

“Hey! Do that again, and I won’t just take away house points, you’ll get detention!” Mer glared up at the troublemaker with her hands on her hips.

Nodding happily she filled the joy that followed others enjoying her food. “I did. I tend to bake a lot.” She shrugged softly. “I’m glad you’re enjoying them so much.” 

Marie smiled, “I’ve been trying to find some new hobbies... Do you think you could give me the recipe? Or better yet make some with me sometime?”

Marie has grown up never knowing what it’s like to not have enough money for anything she wanted. While she doesn’t throw her money around she does make sure to always buy the highest quality of things, and sometimes extra’s for her friends if she knows they want something but can’t afford it.

Marie smiled as she reached over and took a cookie, “Mmm these are really good! You made these?”

“Is it too early to start baking Christmas cookies? I mean.. I understand we have two holidays to go, but I need to practice.” Chewing on her lip she looked up and gave the fellow beside her a smile. “You can be the taste tester? Maybe?”

Marie smiled, “though I will say it does seem to be a tad early for cookies, I won’t pass them up if you’re offering.”

Red-Handed || Marie & Shea

The first few weeks of school were not what one would call profitable for Shea. Petty squabbles needed time to escalate to the point where someone felt the need to involve a third party and until that point Shea could do nothing but wait. Sometimes, though, her fellow students could be… persuaded into taking action. Shea hadn’t really been able to help herself, it was a sibling matter. One of the fifth year Slytherins had a sister in Ravenclaw that was keeping his favorite jacket ransom and, well, Shea just couldn’t let that stand. She did so hate it when siblings fought.

Getting into Ravenclaw tower was pretty much a joke. Honestly, the door was guarded by riddles. Passwords were easy to get hold of if you knew how to hide and eavesdrop, sure, but at least there was some modicum of security in the key to opening your door being something arbitrary rather than something anyone with two brain-cells to rub together could answer if they spent enough time guessing. Despite the lack of challenge, Shea was excited. It was the first heist of the year, after all. Even if it was a cake-walk it was still something to look forward to.

Though there was no risk in simply using magic to unlock the door, Shea elected to pick the lock by hand instead. After all, there was no fun in it if there wasn’t at least a little bit of a challenge. Kneeling by the door, picks in lock, Shea focused her attention on the work of manipulating the tumblers to allow her entrance.

Marie was staying up late in the common room as she still had lots of studying to do. It seemed to be all she was doing lately since her moms letter. Usually she would study in her own dorm but she felt bad for her roommates as the light would keep them up. That’s when she heard the door rattling. 

‘Weird’ She thought to herself, since everyone else was already in bed. So, she pulled out her wand to wait and see just who was trying to break in, and why. The blonde wouldn’t say she was surprised though when the saw who exactly it was once the door opened, “Shea? What do you think you’re doing?” She asked the Slytherin.

Crumbling Down || Self Para

‘How?!?’ Marie asked herself when she found out she wasn’t head girl. It’s not that she had anything against Holley, it’s just she had worked so hard for 6 years for what? Nothing. How was she supposed to tell her mom this? She was not the child who disappointed them. She was the one who went above and beyond expectations. There was no way this would go over well with either of her parents. So, the blonde decided to break the news in a letter. That way, she wouldn’t need to see the disappointment on her mother’s face when she broke the news.

The response she received was just as bad as she had imagined.

Dearest Marie,

As I have never lied to you I will say I am beyond myself. Obviously you have not been working as hard as you had lead me to believe. Not only am I disappointed but I am embarrassed as I have boasted to several of my friends about your accomplishments and how you were sure to become Head Girl, as I was in my seventh year.

I shall continue checking in on you, so be sure to focus on your studies and better yourself. While I know you enjoy dance please remember it is just meant to be a hobby, do not let it take time away from school work. Remember that I do have connections in the school and will find out if you are slacking off. You are the eldest child of the O’Malley family and are expected to perform as such. Do not let me down any more than this.

Everything was crumbling down, all the lies and the image she had built up was falling apart. Does this mean she can’t dance anymore? Marie had been so careful to try to make sure she created the perfect balance between that and studying but maybe she hadn’t. Maybe she wasn’t working as hard as she thought she was. What would happen if her mom also found out she had no friends and that she had been lying about that as well? There was no way she could get back up onto her pedestal if that happened. For now the girl hoped that her deal with Toulouse would pull through and that hopefully she could rebuild her image, while still finding time to do what she really loved, dance.

“Oh!  My fabric!” Sophie called out as a wind suddenly picked up and swept her things away.  She’d have quickly gone after it herself, but once every month, her body aged drastically to that of an elder lady.  Her joints simply did not allow her to speedily chase after her fabric so she meandered slowly.  Where was her wand when she needed it?

Marie was walking past when she saw the elderly lady lose her fabric, “Accio fabric,” she called out, quick to pull out her wand to help. “Here you are,” She smiled and handing it back to the woman.

“Okay, if I say yes will you leave me alone?” he asked. Though, he knew better than to get his hopes up. Water is wet, the grass is green, Toulouse couldn’t trust Marie, it’s just the way his world worked. But, if it would get his older sister out of his room he was willing to simply say it. Toulouse was beyond desperate to be alone at this point. 

Marie tried to hold back the small smile from forming on her lips. “Of course,” she said and began to walk out. She knew if she had bugged him enough eventually he’d give in, but they were both stubborn so took awhile. Right before she walked out his door though she turned to face him again and muttered a “thanks tou... it really means a lot.” just loud enough that she knew he would hear her.

Marie scoffed, she could care less who he bought the weed off of. “Can you be serious for two minutes Toulouse? Seriously, I’m trying to ask you a favor and I’m willing to push my pride aside for this but I need you to not laugh at me and to take me seriously for once.” The blonde took a deep breathe, “when school starts back up I need you to not talk bad about me to all of your friends. I’m gonna try to have a fresh start and it’ll be difficult if my own brother is telling people how horrid I am.” She could hardly look him in the eye, knowing that he’ll probably refuse her request. 

Instead of giving her an answer, Toulouse rolled his eyes, hoping they sunk back as dramatically as he intended. If he was going to stop himself from throwing back a comment, he wanted to make it as clear as he could that he was still having none of it. “You know, if you weren’t so horrid in the first place, it would be a lot fucking easier,” he said, though it was done after a short pause. There was no possible way that Toulouse was ever going to feel bad for the poster child. He couldn’t. He wouldn’t. No matter if he felt the small pang of guilt in his gut or not, he wouldn’t let himself. If Marie got their family vote, Toulouse was going to get what ever was left.

Marie took a deep breath, she expected this reaction from him. But she wasn't gonna give up without a fight, "I'm gonna stop ok. As long as you help me out with this one little thing you can do whatever it is you want, I won't say a word to mom or teachers, no one." She promised, while it would be hard she would do it. The blonde just honestly didn't understand why doing those things made her a bad person, if you saw someone robbing a bank wouldn't you call the police? Sure maybe she was a little excessive but in the girls mind anyone she had told on deserved it, they shouldn't of been braking the rules in the first place.
