there was a presentation about which specific types of pacemakers work for autonomic bradycardia with syncope. convulsive syncope. dysautonomia related low heart rate that involves fainting

the doctor said only a specific type of pacemaker works, or only a few types, because the issue is the autonomic nervous system and not the structure of the heart itself

this was 2021 or 2022 I think. I think it was. dr blair grubb, dr satish raj, or dr brent goodman who had this presentation during a dysautonomia international annual medical conference. it might be one of the CME presentations I cannot remember

my bradycardia is getting worse, I am really weak, and I need to find this information before my heart stops again because it might not restart the next time

If I'm looking for fics for a fandom I probably already have a certain ship in mind, so I usually sort by kudos and go down the line for all the big, kinda fandom-defining fics first to get a feel for it... After I've done that I start sorting by date updated so I can catch any new interesting (unfinished) fics :3

It's hard to admit, but I am a bit jealous of Sweden because their waterhorse can turn into a handsome naked man who plays violin. Meanwhile the waterhorse we have in Denmark is just a horse that can grow longer to fit more people on its back. and yet, murderers and other violent offenders do not have their full names, faces, and addresses put on a public database for the rest of their lives. there is no such thing. they are not legally barred from watching movies containing violence, or owning imagery containing violence

in my state, sex offender probation means you can be searched, at any time, without a warrant, and owning a copy of playboy is a violation. it means you’ll be arrested if a family member comes to stay with you and you don’t register their vehicle with the sheriff. the dehumanization is beyond the pale

Multiple people have brought up the point that the sex offender registry disproportionately targets marginalized people and is used to criminalize the existence of queers, etc. That is true, and it's important to know, but, I cannot stress enough:

This post is about rapists.

The sex offender registry is not bad because innocent people are on it. It is bad because it is a gross abuse of human rights. Rapists are human beings. They deserve human rights. They deserve privacy. They deserve free access to media. They deserve the opportunity to grow and change.

Too many of you are only interested in protecting Unperson's rights as a means to protect Good People's rights, and it shows.
