Fellow Writers! I need your opinion...
I have a world-building question.
Considering the age of humanity & known civilizations, would it be conceivable for humans & wizards to be around for 3000 years & still be a middle earth/medieval-type society?
Please please please give me your feedback!
I posted this on twitter too but please let me know what you guys think? In a world of gods, wizards, shapeshifters, and humans, I need to figure out how long these conflicts have gone on. I keep counting by 5’s! D:
Ok so I feel like there are a ton of factors at play here. In the timeline of history/anthropology 3000 years is basically a blip. With humans it seems like a long ass time but it’s really not so you can explore how the advancements of magic work with the advancements of human technology.
For example take the “discovery” of fire and compare it to when we figured out how to make pottery stronger with fire and then that to when we managed to make gunpowder. On our own human selves that took freakin forever but if you tossed in the magic elements who’s to say it wouldn’t be sped up.
But another point could be - was there in this world an event that slowed OR sped up the process. Is the introduction of a magic a speed up? Did something happen to put knowledge back? (Example we would’ve been hella faster if the library of Alexandria didn’t go bye-bye yes I’m salty)
Anything is concievable. A world is exactly that, a world of its own. It doesn’t necessarily play by our rules but I think it’s totally possible.
As for conflicts, keep context of lifespans in mind. Just thinking of the Iliad, it was a lifetime for the humans but basically a day at the theater for the gods. A 45 year war for humans has been generations but it could be equivalent to a spat to a god.
- signed your friendly neighborhood historian/anthropologist
This was such a wonderful response! Thank you!
I loved your questions about events slowing or speeding up progress and if magic speeds things up. or if something happened to put knowledge back…
I imagine the answer was right in front of me.
The Gods introduced magic to humans as a means to better govern and oversee themselves but some wizards took this for divine right and and sought to rule absolutely.
In a way, magic-wielding people are responsible for hindering the land from stabilizing.
The Gods add more magic into the mix, creating a peaceful shape-shifting species that is meant to remind the people of the need for balance between magic, humans, and nature. But the bad wizards wipe them out when they refuse to fight in their war.
Then our heroine’s species is created: a magical shape-shifting species like before but as predators and warriors. Enforcers and protectors of the land and humans. My timeline has the Felidaeni standing up to the bad guy for more than 5 centuries.
Basically, though, they introduce a stalemate to the land at the expense of their own people. everyone is divided and the humans try to rule themselves but fight amongst each other. When the bad guy finally seems to have exterminated the Felidaeni, now he just has to conquer the weak and divided humans.
The conflict and extermination of most wizards, the first shifting people (originally called the Ca’Felia) and the Felidaeni are those events that set knowledge and peace back.
So in answer to your questions, it would almost seem like magic is one of the root causes of unrest in my world. It was meant to be a solution, and it absolutely can, but only in the right hands. Problem is, magic has been inherited and with it, came arrogance and feeling they deserve this or that instead of earning it.
Thank you so much for posing those questions to me @mysupernaturalfics because I think I finally can accept and understand the timeline I’ve created. I’m gonna save all this stuff I wrote down too.
Also, I hope this was interesting info for others to read. I tried to avoid the bigger spoilers. Most of this all happens before book one of @the-panthera-prophecy series! LOL
If anyone ever wants to talk to me about my WIPs I totally welcome the interest as it gets my interest in writing flowing.

@staff my icon and header were pictures of lions and jaguars. they are animals! They have tan and/or gold fur! Is that why they were deleted?
What. the. Fuck.
I haven’t read up on all of the guidelines yet that will be affecting nsfw content yet. But I’m doing my best to make sure I protect my blog. I went through all of my fics and deleted any nsfw gifs that I’ve used in the past. I also deleted some sideblogs that had sensitive content too so hopefully I’ll be okay. *fingers crossed*
What social media platform should I use so followers can keep in touch?? I mostly only use tumblr but I have a pinterest. I have an AO3 but that’s just for fics and I dont think you can message writers.
Maybe I should make an public writer Instagram too…
What should I do? Just in case??
Follow me on my new public Instagram! @s_a_tyler.writer
there’s nothing posted on there yet but it’ll be the public one that anyone can follow. My main ig used to be more personal so I made it private but this new one you can follow!
I also post my fics on AO3. you can find my fics here

Because my sister, @faithtrustandpixiedust95 told me to and I absolutely adore it and it makes me want to write.
She actually told me it reminded her of my characters from my first book, The Panthera Prophecy! This should motivate me to work on the rewrite right?!
Hey! Let me get that spot out.

When you’re naming your original characters...
Does anyone else ever worry about having too many names starting with the same letter, or ending with the same letter, or beginning or ending with vowels??
Cuz my MC is named Aurelia (Rey for short) but I think I just realized that her love interest should be named Owen… thoughts? opinions?
Just when I think I’ve decided on the love interest’s name (Lucas)…
then I start thinking about changing her brother’s name, Panther! He is a jaguar shifter. He turns into…you guessed it…a black jaguar aka a Panther. I had thought to explain it as a family tradition but some say it’s cheesy but then what do I name him?? Aurelia and ____ (oh and I don’t have a last name for them anymore too)
