Jak and Daxter keyblade wielders 😼
unpopular opinion: Will Stronghold is actually a good character but most of the older fandom heavily villainized him for the way he acted while in the midst of being groomed and manipulated by a grown woman, and her accomplices.

TA-DA! Here's a new art with Meg, I finally managed to capture that newborn feeling. It turned out bright and summery, and a little ironic too… I also made a bonus video for it (it came out a little awkward, but I'm not a master of editing, sorry). I remembered that the opening video is dark, which makes the art even more contrasting, like waking up from a wonderful dream? (It reminded me that many children begin to have memories from the age of five, and it feels like waking up after a long time.) Good morning, Tenno✨💕
I find it so funny how Blackwall, when unguarded, is like, "fuck, balls, tits, whore." But 5 minutes from getting to know the lady Inquisitor, especially if she expresses interest in him, he's like, "My lady, I am but your humble servant, undeserving of your care or attention. Indeed, my sword-arm, nay, my whole being is at your disposal. I shall lay down my life at your word, or mere gesture, a look, even. I am but a stool ready to be stepped on."
blackwall i love u sir, you weirdo who's sorta hero, sorta knight and also not
Kaidan is the most independent squaddie in the game and I think that’s where some people struggle with him as well. He doesn’t need Shepard like the others do. He wants her, he likes being around her. But at the end of the day he doesn’t need her.

Today's Women's Day, so props to the girl who became a strong kunoichi and an amazing doctor despite being clanless and not having special powers or kekkei genkai 🌸
I recently scrolled past this one post that talked about how a certain turian was oh so important to the SR-1 crew because he was working on Mako while Kaidan and Ashley were basically doing nothing. And while I have no interest in "correcting" the author of that post, I'm pretty sure we don't talk enough about how essential Kaidan and Ashley are to the SR-1 crew.
So Ashley is filling in for Corporal Jenkins, which means she has her own unit of soldiers to command, just like she did on Eden Prime.
What does that mean in practice? She does the training, she does the physical and psychological assessments, she does the team building exercises, she writes reports for her CO. If you've ever been the leader of a small team (in Ashley's case, about 7-10 people), you know it's a hell of a job because you have to be both a babysitter and a confidant to fully grown adults who tend to get into all kinds of trouble with each other.
She also maintains the squad's weapons in her off hours, which is wow? Great job, Ash. Now go get some rest.
Kaidan is the staff lieutenant and head of the marine detail, which makes him the third most important person on the ship after the captain and the XO.
What that means in practice is that he's constantly observing and evaluating the work of all the marine personnel aboard the Normandy, working with lower-ranking officers like Ashley to determine how correct and effective their actions with their units are, determining what kind of duties and positions are best suited for each marine on board (he's definitely responsible for Anderson's decision to add Ashley to the crew), and doing the same babysitting, training, and confidant duty for not just one squad, but for every member of the marine detail.
He's also a really good tech specialist, so I bet he does a lot of calibrations on the squad's weapons, armor, and omni-tools.
So yeah, big shoutout to the most useless members of Shepard's team, who are literally responsible for keeping this whole Sarenhunting Spectre shitshow running smoothly.
it's not that important, but i really do prefer kaidan being the one who triggers the beacon. i think that immediate sense of curiosity is more in character of kaidan compared to ashley, who consistently shows trepidation/suspicion toward unknown, alien things. but also, like, give ashley a break, man. her entire team just died. her entire career thus far has been plagued by unfair discrimination because of her family name. adding "indirectly destroys a prothean beacon and almost kills commander shepard" onto that just feels mean. plus the narrative aftermath doesn't properly account for how her part in that would interact with the alliance's preexisting issues toward her for being a williams anyway. on the other hand, "indirectly destroys a prothean beacon and almost kills commander shepard" is like the worst thing in kaidan's file since baat, 100%, and also i just think it's funnier if the staff lieutenant almost kills the XO
Let’s not forget to acknowledge Alexandre Dumas this Black History Month
The writer of two of the most well known stories worldwide, The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo was a black man.
That’s excellence.
Let’s not forget that he was played on screen by a white man. And the fact that he was black is barely ever mentioned or the book he wrote inspired by his experiences.
Other things not to forget about Alexandre Dumas:
chose to take on his slave grandmother’s last name, Dumas, like his father did before him.
grew up too poor for formal education, so was largely self-taught, including becoming a prolific reader, multilingual, well-travelled, and a foodie, resulting in his writing both a combination encyclopedia/cookbook (which just— is fucking outrageous to me) AND the adaptation of The Nutcracker on which Tchaikovsky based his ballet
he also wrote a LOOOOT of nonfiction and fiction about history, politics, and revolution, bc he was pro-monarchy, but a radical cuss, and that got him in a lot of hot water at home and abroad.
even beyond that, he generally put up with a lot of racist bullshit in France, so he went and wrote a novel about colonialism and a BLATANTLY self-insert anti-slavery vigilante hero (which he then cribbed from to write the Count of Monte Cristo, the main character of which, Edmond Dantés, Dumas also based on himself).
(…a novel which also features a LOAD of PoC beyond the Count, and at LEAST one queer character, btw, bc EVERY MOVIE ADAPTATION OF ANYTHING BY DUMAS IS A LIE; seriously, at LEAST one of the four Musketeers is Black, y'all.)
famously, when some fuckshit or other wanted to come at Dumas with some anti-Black foolishness, Dumas replied, “My father was a mulatto, my grandfather was a Negro, and my great-grandfather a monkey. You see, Sir, my family starts where yours ends.”
for the bicentennial of his birthday, Pres. Jacques Cirac was like, “…sorry about the hella racism,” and had Dumas’s ashes reinterred at the Panthéon of Paris, bc if you’re gonna keep the corpses of the cream of the crop all together, Dumas’s more widely read and translated than literally everybody else.
and they are still finding stuff old dude wrote, seriously; like discovering “lost” works as recently as 2002, publishing stuff for the first time as recently as 2005.
ALSO IMPORTANT:
SWAG
I am absolutely ashamed to admit I had NO idea Dumas was black.
when this post first went around (a year ago apparently) I was like BUT WHAT ABOUT DADDY DUMAS THOUGH because basically
daddy general dumas was an immense fierce french warrior who was a 6 foot plus, stunningly gorgeous and charismatic Black gentleman
he invaded egypt
the native egyptians said “is this napoleon? this must be napoleon. we for one welcome our majestic new overlord”
then napoleon showed up
napoleon has all the presence of yesterday’s plain Tesco hummus
the native egyptians were like “… no… no, we’ve thought very hard and we’ll have General Dumas actually”
this did not make napoleon happy
in fact it made him jealous
napoleon felt so emasculated that he launched a campaign of revenge against General Dumas, including taking away his pension, that probably inspired a lot of Alexandre’s rather satisfying scenes in which fathers are nobly avenged and the money-grubbing villains are rubbed in the mud
I was never taught that he was Black either. WTF.
General Dumas (aka Thomas Alexandre Davy de La Pailleterie) looked like this…
…and like this…
…while “Napoleon has all the presence of yesterday’s plain Tesco hummus“…
:-D
I suspect Alexandre Dumas would have laughed at that, because besides looking like someone who laughed a lot…
…he was also a foodie.
He was also born in present-day Haiti. Back then, it was the French colony of Saint-Domingue.
General Dumas was also the highest ranking officer of African descent to have command of a European army. EVER.

(That feeling when you wake up with emotions for the first time in ten years, the magic presumably responsible is eating up your hand, and you have no memory of what happened)
I'll be honest I can forgive Blackwall for all the lies and his horrendous past but I can't forgive him for fucking my lady Trevelyan on top of a goddamn hay pile when her room was only a few staircases away
I know you spent some time isolated in a hut in the forest but christ alive my dearest, why would you drag her to the damn STABLES and leave her sleeping on the floor when her expensive bed ordered straight from Val Royaeux was like RIGHT THERE-
And to Blackwall's credit, he fucked her in the stables, left her naked and alone in the hay pile, but it was still better than the bullshit Solas pulled with his goddamn "official" romance scene lol At the very least Blackwall gave her what she wanted and left a note before leaving, that's a much kinder approach in my humble opinion...
Btw I couldn't stop laughing at the coincidence of Blackwall checking all the right boxes about what I complained on the Solavellan crash out post man what are the odds LMFAO On his romance path, Blackwall:
✅ Said she could do better but respected her choice to stay with him
✅ Never turned down affection
✅ Openly talked about being with her with other people, as "shy" as he got when he did that lol
✅ Gave her freedom to choose their next step on their relationship
✅ Failed to tell the truth but still delivered sincere intimacy in other ways
✅ Ate her puss-
Anyway, my point stands about him: he's a coward and a liar but he still tried to make his girlfriend happy for a little while before breaking her heart, and even when it happened, he took full responsibility without taking away her agency. He didn't wanna save himself but he let her do it for him and once she did, he was fiercely determined to become a man worthy of her and it was clear that he would do it either way but he still gave her the chance to stay with him if that's what she wanted!!!!
Thom Rainier, you absolute adorable submissive bear, I truly respect your game. If you acted just a liiiiiittle bit different than how you did, I'd make my lady Trevelyan leave your ass for Josie but man you impressed me. Well done, my dearest. Well done!! And congratulations on your beautiful girlfriend, you have no idea how lucky you are for being able to be with her. The line behind you was very, very long... 😌🌈
