With all red wines, it is best to let them breath allow all the characteristics come to fruition. It is a nice wine is their best no, but a safe and comfortable shiraz from the Barossa Valley, if you can't get a shiraz right from there you are in trouble. This is no different great rich colour, wonderful aroma and excellent taste. It is a full-bodied dry wine which would go well with steak or a winter casserole. This is a very enjoyable shiraz as we expect from Grant Burge so why is the rating so low. The price on the Grant Burge website it is listed at $27.00 I purchased it for $22.00 at my LBS, which to me places it in the awkward price range? You can find wines at a lower price point that are just as enjoyable or you can go the next bracket the Filsell 2016 shiraz and get a corker based on previous experiences at around $30.00 a bottle at Dan Murphys. Quite a different beer was hard to describe it had some flavour which was fresh and enjoyable I found this the easier to drink out the James Squire stable. It was lighter in bubbles and drier which lent itself to bang it down, more of a larger style In short, this is another beer that sits well on a Sunday afternoon having a few with mates or enjoyed Sebago Potato and Pecorino Gnocchi (see The Great Match for the recipe). Could become a staple in the bar fridge. Recommend. TASTING NOTES Noted for its distinctive golden colour, The Chancer is brewed using toasted grains of wheat and barley with Amarillo hops for a tropical fruit aroma. Restrained bitterness with mild carbonation and a dry finish make it the ideal thirst-slaking beer. I can rarely enjoy a bourbon straight and this is the exception with its lightness with a warm and rounded slightly charred flavour it is to be savoured over ice. From the first sip to the last it is a dance on your palette, from the caramel and honey flavours to the hint of citrus after taste you will be able to relax on this drink and take pleasure from its simplicity yet well-rounded performance I place it in the likes of a single malt whisky were it is to be enjoyed and not killed with a mixer. What Are Cleanskins

What are Cleanskins? Over the years cleanskins have come a long way since there introduction by winemakers in the early 2000s. At From The Shed, we are breaking down the myths that cleanskins are a cheap nasty wine and that you may crack a good one now and then. Cleanskins are away a winemaker can clear out overstock of a particular grape variety quickly and at times a lot cheaper than the branded wine. On some occasions, wines are made specifically for cleanskins. Whilst working at Dan Murphy we had the state office above our store and we could ask the wine trainers a lot of question outside of our knowledge. The question of cleanskins was at the foremost when I become a fine wine specialist at my store. I was surprised when the process was explained and now I wish to share it with you. I will base the information on what I learnt from Dan Murphy's and I believe it works or should work across the board. Once a winery has finished it's bottling they approach the company with how many litres of wine they have left from their bottling run. Samples wine is then sent to in this case Dan Murphy's tasting panel and they taste and make the decision as to what level of clean skin it is. James Squire Broken Shackles - Review

Pete's ReviewFrom James SquireTechnical StuffA Great Match James Squire Broken Shackle In all honesty, my prefered beer is a larger something that is enjoyable to drink, that is fresh and has an enjoyable flavour, that is a little fruity. My goto larger is Iron Jack. So let's see how this new craft beer from James Squire goes. The great thing with James Squire beers are the ingredients are all Australian Grown a big plus for me.It has that same drink feeling as the other craft beer from James Squire, it has that non-commercial feel to it. Which was surprising and is with all of James Squire beers considering they are part of the Lion Nathan Group. On pouring the beer it is a Golden Honey colour with a fresh and summery aroma. The first thing I noticed compared to Iron Jack it had a little more of a bitter kick to it, which lets you enjoy it more, I find with Iron Jack you slam them down great for a hot day and thas about all. It's for me has a perfect balance between flavour and a refreshing beer, with a well-controlled brewing process that allows the beer to be crisp with enough lower bitterness that lets each mouthful be enjoyable and refreshing. Without a doubt it should be enjoyed around the BBQ or just as a nice drink to have when you get home For me, this was the missing link in a solid stable of craft beers available commercially, Highly Recommended.
