Learning Magic the Gathering from my partner has been kinda hilarious cuz I find a lot of the cards will be either:

I wanted to draw some outfits that combined elements from dresses and suits, and I ended up putting a lot more effort into it than I originally planned. Technically has nothing to do with mtg, but I did use the gatewatch as models, so enjoy some planeswalkers in fun fits!

This was a practice piece for my portfolio. Since I usually like to make my own character designs and stories, that does divide my focus quite a bit, especially as there’s just so much I still need to learn. So having an established character to play around with and elements from the setting to use in the illustration, I was able to just focus on the execution… The glow effects, the detailing, the reduced color palette, the blending. I learned a lot, and this particular format of full body character illustrations actually has become my favorite for commissions since!
So uh.... Anyone want some JaSka because I am. Fucking. FERAL FOR THEM

There is something about Liliana's specific brand of brokenness- that whole "I can't care about other people" rooted in a lifetime of mistakes that have cost her the people she loved, very heavily implied childhood issues related to "I am not good enough the way I am, so I need to prove myself", and the conflict of all of that with the fact that Liliana is someone who loves VERY deeply (at least, that's how I read her)- that makes her just. The PERFECT character for me.
There's just something about the self-versus-self conflict in her, the fact that maybe she actually COULD have it all if she would stop being so afraid of loss and would let herself truly care for others and just fucking ask for help, woman!!!! IDK what exactly it is about that kind of character that makes them so.... hmmmmnnnggg to me but...
Liliana is fucking perfect and I love her.

A small work in progress fragment of something I’ve been painting off and on after work last week.
Just to tease, but also to use it as an excuse to say: damn, there is few things that have such an effect on me as hands adorned with rings, bonus points for claws, bonus bonus points for all that being gold. RIP.
