Today marks 40 years since the original first act of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" premiered in his home theater in Sydmonton.

The original book and lyrics were rather different including Christine telling Raoul she didn't want to leave the Opera just as her career was getting started before "All I Ask of You" and Christine and The Phantom having a conversation through the Mirror before "Little Lotte" that explains more about their relationship at that point.
